"Team" was totally a hit. But it was a follow-up hit that I don't think has stuck with the public nearly as well as "Royals." It was completely overshadowed (not unlike CRJ and "Good Time" tbh). I'm not trying to say she's in a bad place to launch her next era. But it'll be interesting nonetheless. She's taken a relatively long break after only 2 hits. "Tennis Court" flopped. "Yellow Flicker Beat" left little impact. "Magnets" (unjustifiably) flopped. Team hit the Top40 in TEN countries Tennis Court peaked at #22 (15 on Alt) YFB peaked at #10 Alt Magnets peaked at #12 Alt Glory & Gore charted in both the US & Australia then she had 11 other songs that charted here in the US
CONCLUSION: NOT a one-hit wonder in any stretch of the imagination

defining a "hit" strictly by the Billboard Hot 100 seems a bit narrow to me, but even so:
01 Royals 06 Team 34 Yellow Flicker Beat 68 Glory & Gore 71 Tennis Court
that's 5 hits

I loved Team, really liked Royals and Tennis Court was good, so I'm excited to hear her next single!

And YFB only spent one week in the top 40 the week after the movie was released and then dropped off the Hot 100 COMPLETELY.

I'm not trying to say she's in a bad place to launch her next era. But it'll be interesting nonetheless. She's taken a relatively long break after only 2 hits. I agree 100%! "Team" was a hit but it benefited from the wake "Royals" left behind. It's not like she came out of nowhere with a second hit. Her two remembered songs were back to back and followed by silence, not unlike "Break Your Heart" and "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz. "Tennis Court" flopped. "Yellow Flicker Beat" left little impact. "Magnets" (unjustifiably) flopped. Success this era is definitely not a guarantee unless she comes correct in terms of material. If this flops, she unlikely to have as much of a spotlight on her again. If it does well, she's likely to here to stay... which goes to Gray. 's original point that it's a make or break era. Here's the difference between Lorde vs. Carly Rae Jepsen, Taio Cruz, etc: People know her name. Taio Cruz is not a household name. Carly Rae Jepsen is not a household name. Mass media doesn't and never really did give a shit about them, while Lorde, on the other hand, not only crafted a very distinct persona, but spent a lot of time really mastering her celebrity. Lorde is a household name, despite only having two hits.

I need new music. Her work on the Mockingjay soundtrack was really good (I still love Meltdown).

I've been revisiting The Love Club/Pure Heroine this morning. Damn, I need new material from her. I honestly would cite the combo of TLC & PH as my favorite album of all time. Beautiful harmonies, amazing instrumentals, outstanding lyrics. I am starving for new Lorde material.

Slated to be released sometime in Spring. From Billboard: Just release it already. So annoying. I don't know why but I find these posts over the past year pretentious and just annoying. It always annoys me when a new artist who had massive initial success takes four years to follow up with anything new.

I wonder if we'll have new music by then or if she's going to wait to premiere it there.

To me, it feels like she's waited too long. Is the same demographic going to be checking for her in 2017? It will be interesting to see how she evolves her sound.

I think I am returning to Coachella this year so that should be exciting to see Lorde. She was the highlight of Lollapalooza when I saw her there.

She has been added to the Gov Ball line up too, which makes sense since she has new music coming, is on the festival circuit and lives in NYC.

Her new single is expected to impact pop radio on March 7 according to Republic Playbook, so I assume that it will be released on March 3.
