Just wondering, has this ENDLESS speculation about whether a song x, y or z can reach #1 always occured here LOL seems pretty pointless to me. Not all songs will be #1, in fact this year not many it seems..

I feel the same way about UF being #1 this week as Brazil felt about scoring that one goal against Germany in the FIFA semi-final match last year.

Yea too early to say that SYA will be #1 next week. If it gets 72% of its points from sales next week too, it would need A LOT of them to be #1.

While I would not mind seeing history made here, I also would not mind a single staying at #1 for JUST fifteen weeks.

Not all songs will be #1, in fact this year not many it seems.. I'm sure for an artist having a number one must be great, but in the long run there are a lot of classic number 2 that were blocked for forgotten number ones. In fact when one look at the chart runs of very successful artist is easy to find underperforming songs that are now part of the most memorable songs of the artist and a lot of hits that are now not so memorable

Am I the only one who thinks UF still has a legitimate shot at staying at #1 next week? It seems like everyone here thinks SYA has it in the bag, but I'm still not so sure... At the very least, it should be a decent race.

But right now it's not just a question of SYA being number one next week, it's the fact that UF is starting to give signs of exhaustation. It's going down on itunes, and it's down on airplay. If it's not SYA it will be Sugar or any other song

At the very least, it should be a decent race. You're not alone. I have hope too. But given the apparent increase in streaming for SYA, it will need to start falling continuously this week in sales in order for UF to have a shot. There's also the possibility that SYA makes #1 with enormous sales this week but falls to <300k the following week giving UF the chance to return for a 15th week seeing as how Sugar and LMLYD are also on the decline and EI, GDFR, SUAD, etc. are still too far away to take over by the 5/2 chart. Anything is possible at this point.

Anything is possible at this point. Except "Sugar" gained in every single metric this past week, according to the article: Radio Songs = +5% Digital Songs = +2% Streaming Songs = +11% Will it do the same thing this week? Idk. Even if it did, would it be enough for No. 1? Idk.

Well radio gains make sense. As for the other two, wasn't it because M5 performed Sugar somewhere? I think it will start decreasing again next week (and also may be peaking on airplay really soon)

Streaming too - I think? I forget the chart week for that one.

Interesting how the airplay difference between "UF" and "Sugar" on BDS is only 19 million.

Wiz is performing on The Voice tonight right? That's going to help his second week, and possible bounce to #1.

Stabilized it, but it's been essentially steady in the 8-10 range for the past 5 days.

It would be cool to see "Uptown Funk!" spend 15 weeks at #1 and bust out of that 7-way tie for all-time second place, but I also wouldn't mind "See You Again" exploding to #1 next week, then after sales and movie hype crash a bit see "Sugar" float to the top for a week after that, before being overtaken by "Earned It" the following week. Let's get some turnover before some sumer smash logs ten weeks on top!

If Uptown Funk fails to get to 15, we will no doubt be doing this again soon, perhaps even this year.
Since August 1992 when End Of the Road by Boyz II Men spent its 1st of 13 weeks at #1, 27 songs have had double digit stays at #1. (The rock era record prior to this was 11 weeks by an Elvis 2 sided hit and the Hot 100 record was 10 weeks by 2 songs.
Those 27 songs add up to 324 weeks at #1 out of the 1184 weeks that have elapsed since Boyz II Men had that first week at #1.
So in 27% of the time that has elapsed since, we have had something at #1 for a long time.
If Mark Ronson can't hang on this time, another song is on the way soon

I'm guessing Somebody and SUAD are 11-12 (but not necessarily in that order) and Rihanna is #13

I'm guessing Somebody and SUAD are 11-12 (but not necessarily in that order) and Rihanna is #13 In highlights below the Hot 100's top 10, Nick Jonas' "Chains" rattles 19-13, Jason Derulo's "Want to Want Me" bumps 17-14 and Rihanna's "B**** Better Have My Money," the chart's highest debut last week, pushes 23-19. More details on action below the top 10 in the weekly "Hot 100 Chart Moves" column to post on Friday (April 10).

Great, UF can't even get Digital Songs record :( so close yet so far... Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars fans should realize that the fact that UF already spent 13 weeks at #1 in Digital Songs is still an amazing achievement!

If SYA is a one week number one then crash type of song, I want UF to be the one returning to the top. 14 weeks would be sooooo underwhelming after it looked like it would at least be the second song ever to break the 15 barrier.

kworb.net/cc/ OMG 477k copies for See You Again, if it comes true... Bye Uptown Funk But how? Going off the pop bar differences between it and UF that doesn't make sense unless UF has also had a big surge in sales this week? They list 120k projected for UF, so that should mean that SYA should be around 3.1-3.3x the sales going off the pop bar difference. So where are they coming up with that extra 100k+ in sales?

I see SYA being #1 next week and then probably fall after one week. Then it would probably be a battle between UF and Sugar for #1 the week after that.
