"Shine" is going to be the next single from Years & Years' debut album Communion, which was confirmed by Olly Alexander in his Attitude magazine interview. From Attitude: And Olly said the following about the track: "It's a really euphoric song but I actually find it really emotional. I found it quite difficult to be honest in a hopeful way. It's about hoping something works out. For me it's hard to be that vulnerable without feeling a bit desperate."

Artwork:The single is available for pre-order on iTunes New Zealand so far and it will be out on July 3 there. Personally, it's weird move because Communion will be out two weeks earlier, so maybe the album will be pushed back a week later? On the other side, if it's taken into consideration this tweet from them, looks like the track will be premiered tomorrow and I guess it will be on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show as the Hottest Record.

That instrumental reminds me of "Cloud 10" by Kendrick Lamar.

So catchy. I like this a lot on first listen as I've done with all of their songs. I think this also sounds made-for-US-radio more than their other songs.

How is my quote vague? lol What is it about this song that specifically makes it sound "made for US radio" more than their others?

I think he means that there's a substance to this song. There is a complex musical and lyrical component, and the song also has a good natural flow musically. For instance the intro would blend well with, say, an intro by the DJ.

How is my quote vague? lol What is it about this song that specifically makes it sound "made for US radio" more than their others? It's a very straight forward pop song that's not toooo far off from some of Maroon 5's recent material (but better in terms of quality, duh). Something like "King" draws a lot from new wave which US pop stations are less likely to gravitate to on their own.

Early Tuesday update in the UK and "Shine" is currently at #2 there. It has been mentioned on BuzzJack that the gap between "House Every Weekend" and this one is 5.5k, so I hope they can pull away the David Zowie track in three days. ETA: From BuzzJack Music Forum: 1 David Zowie - House Every Weekend (34.8k) ^ 2 Years & Years - Shine (29.3k) * 3 Fifth Harmony - Worth It (26.2k) ^ 4 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me (17.2k) 5 Tinie Tempah feat. Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go (12.5k) Also, there's missing data from Apple Music on Monday and Spotify on Sunday.

From the Official Charts/ BuzzJack Music Forum: 1 David Zowie - House Every Weekend (41.4k) ^ 2 Years & Years - Shine (35.7k) * 3 Fifth Harmony - Worth It (32k) ^ 4 Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me (23.3k) 5 Tinie Tempah f/ Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go (16.9k) This is the Wednesday update in the UK and "Shine" is still at #2. Also, the gap increased a little in favour of "House Every Weekend" That said, looks like there's still missing data from streaming, which doesn't benefit the Years & Years track at all, although some iTunes data could be missing as well. As a consequence, it may debut at #3 if the former is confirmed, despite it reached atop on iTunes. However, on a bright side, this is helping the launch of their album because they have a lot of banners on iTunes right now.

The gap has decreased to 2.3k and despite all the data has been counted, it's been mentioned that some data is still missing. That said, it will be closed tomorrow.

Blocked by less than 1k! Also, it has been confirmed that Spotify data wasn't submitted, so I guess the gap between both of them would have been more in favour of "House Every Weekend" though~ From Music Week/BuzzJack Music Forum:

I like this! I was listening to the previews for their album and it sounds pretty good. Hopefully they get another shot in the US with this or "Desire" since "King" flopped sadly.
