Hello guys!! Sooo I love me some nice strings and live arranged instruments in a pop song. Hopefully some of you do to. Hence I thought this thread could be a repository of all songs you know that have a notable orchestral/strings backing track. Even if it only happens during the song intro and whatnot, it should still be fine.
Here are the ones I could think off the top of my head:
Christina Aguilera - Hurt Christina Aguilera - Beautiful Mika - Toy Boy Pharrell Williams - Marilyn Monroe Justin Timberlake - Pusher Love Girl Justin Timberlake - Amnesia Mariah Carey - The Art Of Letting Go Ariana Grande - Honeymoon Avenue Mary J. Blige - I Found My Everything Toni Braxton - Maybe Black Eyed Peas - Don't Lie Black Eyed Peas - Like That Black Eyed Peas - Dum Diddly

How far back do you want to go? Obviously stuff by Frank Sinatra and even something like "Moon River" had orchestration. Marvin Gaye had several as well.
Didn't Michael Jackson have orchestra on "Man In The Mirror" and some others?
They may be more rock than pop, but "Tonight, Tonight" by Smashing Pumpkins and "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve come to mind for me.
One of my favorites is "Gone" by Kanye West. The orchestra on it is amazing. A lot of tracks off Late Registration had strings.
Another Mariah Carey one is "Make It Look Good."

Ooh!! All of them are awesome!!! As far as you can think of!! Although we can argue that Sinatra's genre naturally calls for live orchestral tracks which brings not much surprise, I actually have yet to listen to his whole discography. However other acts you mentioned like MJ, Kanye, Mariah are more than welcomed :) Thanksssss!!!

Well, Sinatra was "pop" during his day, which is more so what I meant. What is pop(ular) changes in a sense.
Also, The Weeknd's "Earned It" that's a big hit right now has a major use of strings. I love the dramatic feel they give the song.
"Kaleidoscope Dream" by Miguel is another one, as is "Bust Your Windows" by Jazmine Sullivan.
They could be synth - don't have the credits in front of me - but I love the strings on Mariah Carey's "Joy Ride." That fanfare on the bridge is dynamite.

Justin Timberlake - Take it From Here - Last Night - Until the End of Time
The same guy, Benjamin Wright, did all of the orchestral work for all 3 songs.

Blue October has a few songs. They also have a violin in a lot of their albums too.
Also, the strings sections of 1998. Uninvited by Alanis and Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. I'd love to see strings making a comeback in pop music.
Oh, and Clean Bandit.

I'd love to see strings making a comeback in pop music. Have they gone away? Call Me Maybe relied a lot on its strings hook. Earned It is a hit right now and uses strings. You mentioned Rather Be, which was a hit last year. Justin Timberlake isn't a relic. Adele definitely uses strings in her music (Set Fire to the Rain comes to mind). Doesn't Say Something by A Great Big World use strings? Another great song to listen to with strings is "What I Cannot Change" by LeAnn Rimes.

Lana Del Rey - "Born To Die" Oh yeaaah!!! Seriously the strings on that whole album's productions add so much!! (especially Jeff Bhasker's): "Off The Races" and "National Anthem" do have nice string tracks!!
