What Starship record did this still have a shot at? I guess most consecutive weeks in the top 10 after debuting in the top ten. Starships holds the record with 21. OK thanks, it is at 16 weeks now. Predicting 5 weeks ahead is a little tricky. Anything can happen

5 years is a lot in terms of the music industry. Look at Mariah being huge in 1996 but tanking in 2001 (and then being huge in 2005 but not in 2010). Particularly when someone has a younger fan base, that fan base can erode as the fans(and artists) get older. You also have to consider that downloads in general are down from a few years ago. Yes, but that usually happens over a period of time when the act becomes less and less successful. Britney had a huge era with Femme Fatale, and suddenly everything after that seemed to have flopped/underperformed. Still, one could make a point that Mariah has lost her appeal to the general public, but that her core fanbase seems to still follow her. With Britney, it seems that even her fans (responsible for those front-loaded releases) have left her. But you have to consider Britney's earlier releases from the 2000's, which were already on a steady decline from album to album. Femme Fatale could be seen as part of the comeback launched by Circus. But I see what you're saying. Comparing Femme Fatale's performance with Britney Jean which came right after, there was a pretty drastic decline.

Prediction: 7. Sugar - not gonna beat that Starships record :( What Starship record did this still have a shot at? Yeah what 85la said. The one I was bitter about "Shake It Off" not breaking earlier because it fell out of the top ten for one week

Well based on the fact that "Sugar" is falling in all three metrics and is no longer in top 5, it's not likely that it will still be in the top 10 5 weeks from now. It could happen though, you never know!

Most of those songs will probably be like Glee
Boatloads of downloads, probably some streaming for the bigger songs but radio won't touch it
unless there is the random song marketed as a single of course

Cheerleader if def. starting to blow up. Dunno if its gonna topple SYA (again all due to timing) as SYAs airplay is still just only first heading into orbit. Could happen but its possible we get another UF/TOL situation. However, Cheerleader def. has a textbook sound of summer and think people would rather hear a song like that (even though I sill find it super bland) than a depressant like SYA). I know its many weeks away but gut is telling me Omi is possibly the biggest threat. If they held back Cheerleader another month or so, I'd be almost 100% it was gonna topple SYA. Prob. is they're both basically still in their infancy stages.

I don't mean to sound like a Taylor stan lol but think back to the first two singles from 1989 and how quickly they got to #1. This single has been anticipated by the fanbase and many others too and it will drop together with the video next week at the BBMA's so it could get a huge lead in sales and especially streaming at that point. Also, the song has great potential for radio. And I still have hope for SUAD! Maybe just MAYBE it can somehow sneak in a week at #1! I'd take almost anything over SYA at this point tbh...

Cheerleader seems like the type of song that will have a long climb to its peak. If it ever is in contention for #1, I doubt its competition will be See You Again.

SUAD is now at about 60% of combined SYA. Headed in the right direction I still have some hope for SUAD! I hope it doesn't get stuck at #3 or #2 like majority of the alternative crossovers these past few years :(

Why Bad Blood Remix will be the next #1? - Well duh! it's Taylor Swift. - Hottest artist in the industry right now.
Why Bad Blood Remix won't be the next #1? - Not the first single from the album or even the second. - The original song has been widely available for months.
Why Shut Up and Dance will be the next #1 - Sales are steady. Airplay is growing - Mark G's favorite
Why Shut Up And Dance Wont be the next #1
- The song is old and has been out for a while - Isn't growing fast enough
Why See You Again will be #1 for a little while longer - streaming is steady - airplay is still growing - sales are declining but slowly
Why See You Again will soon be dethroned - Mark G does not like this song - The Bad Blood remix and accompanying video will soon be released.
Why something else will come out of nowhere and be the next #1
- I think we have learned to expect the unexpected

I don't mean to sound like a Taylor stan Then don't? Anyway, I was looking for something else and saw the Yahoo Music chart in the May 24, 2008 edition of Billboard. They posted the top 20 streams for that week, including their totals. I was shocked at the totals: 1. "Touch My Body" (Mariah Carey) - 2,927,942 2. "4 Minutes" (Madonna) - 2,321,403 3. "Bleeding Love" (Leona Lewis) - 2,306,982 4. "Lollipop" (Lil Wayne) - 2,000,442 5. "No Air" (Jordin Sparks) - 1,957,132 It listed the top 20, but I just wanted to give you all an idea. I know Yahoo was a bigger source for video views then, but I was still surprised the totals were that high. Those wouldn't be bad totals now from a single source that isn't YouTube or Spotify.

I'm gonna add to this. Why Cheerleader will be the next #1: - It's a cool song that has great potential to click with the GP - Shazam said it will be the next #1 Why Cheerleader won't be the next #1: - wrong timing will lead to it being blocked by one or more of the major songs - Shazam was previously wrong with their predictions (i.e. someone mentioned "Rather Be")

Cheerleader is so annoying ugh. My friends used like it and rn it's all burned on them so hopefully that'll happen to everyone else.
Honey I'm Good up to #3 on iTunes, wonder if it has a chance at #1? I also think Want To Want Me should have a chance at top #3/4 soon

Cheerleader is probably the most annoying out of the remix trio (Waves, Prayer In C, Cheerleader)

Why Bad Blood Remix won't be the next #1? - Not the first single from the album or even the second. - The original song has been widely available for months. Also, this remix would have to be pretty incredible. "Bad Blood" is certainly no "Shake It Off" or "Blank Space". For my money, it is the single worst song on 1989, but that obviously doesn't mean that it can't be a big hit. What makes people think that anything she releases will hit the top?

to be fair "bad blood" has the case of there being hype for the music video because of the theme and the fact that taylor has seemed to invite every fuckin' person on her whatsapp list in the video
(also the fact that taylor swift is sadly the biggest name in pop music right now but who's counting)

Taylor's team is definitely trying to make Bad Blood an event and the video definitely will be one. The song, however, is one of her laziest singles. Very interested to see how this turns out.
