Well that was interesting. I really liked it, but not as a single to set up a sophomore record at "make or break" moment in her career. "IRRLY" was the winner.
Structurally, it's a more complete actual song than its predecessor. Great track and I agree with whoever else heard the nod to "The Way You Make Me Feel". I see it doing well at Hot AC and a mid-charter elsewhere.

And 0.668 million people heard the song in a day/week??? I really like this song. carly Rae jepsen is really uncool at this point which is sad to me and the kiss album really branded her this cutesy forgettable pop singer when I think she is really a pop folk singer songwriter at heart. I really liked that curiosity song. |

I wouldn't say she's 'uncool' but that people are indifferent about her. There's no reason for anyone to care. I'm not sure what she or her label could do to get people to look at her. The album is solid! I think the best route is to let the music speak for itself - since we know it's good - rather than continuing to rely on more gimmicky tie-ins like lip-syncing videos and other attempts to bottle lightning twice following "Call Me Maybe." SNL was a good first step for that (along with "All That" being released for it), as is this being the next single. I'm hopeful they'll continue down that road with things like ad syncs for brands like Victoria's Secret (whose ads usually license "cool" alt/pop groups like Banks and M83) and maybe something like a longform Pitchfork or NPR feature. |

There had been some rumors, but the August 19 "Tonight Show" now looks pretty definite. That joins the previously confirmed August 21 Today Summer Concert Series performance as far as release week promo goes.
