Have ya'll noticed Carrie's cover photo on Facebook just changed? It's a photo of her doing a show... hmm? Probably just put in there as a transitional photo between eras. I remember this happening after the BA era ended, too. Also, did the tour DVD/movie get shelved? I thought maybe it was an indication that something specific was in the works, i.e. a DVD of some sort? Who knows? I'm shocked we don't have a DVD or some kind of concert thing at this point; I'm starting to think there never was one, which utterly sucks because this tour absolutely deserves to be preserved eternally!

^ That legit can be anyone.... Haha right? I'd argue that most of the the 'popular' country artists lean moderate or left nowadays. Unless it's Toby Keith (eye roll), it could be anyone.

If the tour DVD/Netflix thingy is actually a thing, they need to hurry because I need SOMETHING.

Looks good, minus the eyes. Jesus.
Anyways this is just a friendly reminder that Blown Away was her artistic magnum opus, and even Storyteller's highest points couldn't possibly top any of the dramatic narratives from that godsend of a record.

Well, that totally explains the lack of 5th single.

Didn't see this coming but I guess it's about time taking into consideration the number of times Sony screwed her over. Hopefully this label change won't affect the quality of her music...#playon Sidenote: I was secretly hoping that she might perform CCA at the ACM and announce her DVD release date....

This explains a LOT. Wow.
Honestly, I'm thrilled. Although, I do think this could also be a good time to mentally prep for her to lose at the ACMs. Can't imagine a label push for her if they knew she was headed for the exit.

True, though when did/does voting close? This makes me even more worried she won't have a solo performance at the ACMs, though maybe she'll want to promote "CCA" or something else since Sony didn't.

I don't think it was too long ago that voting closed. However, I'm sure that Carrie shopping for and signing with a new label was something that happened super quickly. Sony may have known she had been looking around for a bit. So it likely could have an affect on the ACMs outcome.

I'm so proud of her for changing things up! So, what does this change for Carrie in terms of awards shows? Lol. Like politically does this do her favors?

Female vocalist is more feasible since as of right now there is no one even close to as big as Carrie (like Miranda was) on UMG so she'll get full or majority support instead of splitting it. Now if Lauren Alaina's second single is successful, if Kacey comes back with another incredible album, or if Shania's comeback is a success, that could change but for now it's a good thing for Carrie in terms of FVOTY at the CMAs in the fall. For entertainer, single, album, etc it may also help, but it will depend what other acts she'll have to compete with for those awards. But I certainly don't see this move hurting her at all.

I think with some of those awards where she is nominated against another UMG or Capitol artist, her next era will be of a priority, so she may pull out some big wins regardless of who she's against.

She's now UMG Nashville's flagship female artist, but her management, tour promoter, and talent agency still put her at odds with the CMA / ACM voting blocs. I wouldn't expect much of a change on that front.
It sounds like this move was mostly influenced by past relationships and a desire to strengthen global touring prospects.

Being their flagship female is huge! She hasn't ever been in that position with a label, really. Her first album era with them will surely be massive - I'm sure they'll pour everything they can into Carrie to make sure her launch with them goes well. Looking forward to what's next! I also imagine she'll take priority when it comes to award nominations/wins, at least during her first album era with them. YAY! :)

What?! I'm so shocked that her record deal is over already, I thought she would have owed Sony another album or two since Kelly Clarkson's just ended and she did more albums than Carrie. Not that shocked that she would leave though. Maybe she won't be boxed in as tightly with all those songs patterned after BHC . Capitol seems more aggressive about pushing for a more diverse audience, so hopefully Carrie will start doing more soundtracks and collaborations and have a proper European tour.

Yeah, there's been a very heavy emphasis on this deal being a worldwide recording contract. Seeing as she's also back with one of the key players behind Some Hearts (Cindy Mabe), I think we're going to see a huge push for global expansion for her this next era.
And yeah, RE: the awards shows, unless she also left CAA and switched to WME, she'll still likely receive similar treatment. Which is fine, since we're all used to it anyways.
This really, really is exciting. I'm excited to see her tour the world without having to do it with the C2C coddling.

So, does this mean we're in for new music sooner rather than later? I know a new album this fall seems unlikely, but with this announcement it seems Carrie is ready to get to work! And it's very possible she's been writing since the end of the tour, so she may already have some ideas for the album direction... I imagine some sort of timeline was discussed during their negotiations so I think the next few months will really indicate whether we're getting an album sooner rather than later. I think the most likely timeframe would be a spring 2018 release, but a late 2017 release certainly isn't out of the question!

I'm here for a fall 2017 release, and I really do think Carrie is too. Like I said before, I think we're getting the new album sooner rather than later. The new label certainly supports that.
