I never post in here but I saw the title and as an Idol follower in general I just had to drop in to say, CONGRATULATIONS BABY GIRL YOU ARE FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *praise dance* And to be her new label's flagship artist! What a wonderful position to be in  What?! I'm so shocked that her record deal is over already, I thought she would have owed Sony another album or two since Kelly Clarkson's just ended and she did more albums than Carrie. Yeah, three of Kelly's albums didn't count toward the completion of her deal though. With that in mind, looks like she and Carrie had the same five studio album contract. |

Didn't see this coming but I guess it's about time taking into consideration the number of times Sony screwed her over. Hopefully this label change won't affect the quality of her music...#playon Sidenote: I was secretly hoping that she might perform CCA at the ACM and announce her DVD release date.... #SlayOn may have been a gooey melting pot of a genre mess, but it was good, soooo good. Since the career-defining, Grammy in the Water, it feels like her career has been in snooze mode. Storyteller may have had beautiful writing and critical acclaim, but neither the album nor the singles had anywhere near the commercial success of her prior eras. Especially considering that Blown Away was such a truly massive era. And that just a year between the eras, Something in the Water singlehandedly sold the GH, and kept the public starving for more. Little Toy Guns who? Then came August 2015, and we get the disastrous (lowest selling/charting lead single of her career) Smoke Break. Aside from the flawless tour assembling the global army of Care Bears to prepare for next era's global domination, Storyteller wasted practically everything else. Nevermind the fact that Smoke Break's MEH "success" caused Storyteller to debut at #2 on the BB200 behind an already forgotten/dropped(?) boy band. 
Here's to hoping that ditching Sony absolves the sins of the Storyteller era and preps for the gp to embrace C6. |

There's too much excitement, and likely too much money, invested in this deal for them to pass up releasing new music this year. I think we'll get, at the very least, a lead single before the end of 2017.

Great news in regards to the label switch! I'm also super excited about the emphasis on a worldwide contract. She laid the groundwork with Storyteller doing the heavy promo campaign in the UK, so hopefully that was just a taste of what is to come! :)

It'd be cool if she released a single in before the Grammy cutoff, so she can compete and then an album sometime after that, so she can again be competitive at the following Grammy's, plus, two more Grammy performances!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Rascal Flatts, I'm at least somewhat interested to hear their version. Seems like a missed opportunity, though, assuming they didn't reach out to Carrie to make a collab of it - I think it could make for a really great duet.
If their version is released as a single I will be forever pissed, eternally.

I feel like Carrie's mention of her new label's "innovative spirit" is telling. She always put on a good face for the public, but privately I suspect she might have been feeling somewhat artistically boxed in to be always radio-friendly and frequently following the pattern of her own previous hits either sonically or thematically. She seemed to be surprised at the label's single selection on a number of occasions in the past, it will be curious to see how much say and what kind of stylistic choices she makes in the future on that front.

Some "break" Carrie's on... she did two shows at the Opry earlier in the week, flies to Toronto for a gala last night, and now she's headed to Vegas for the ACMs...
I PRAY she performs a solo in addition to TF, but we'll see - CCA would be cool, but I also think a stripped down version of WINKIAW could make for quite the showstopper...
