These critics are simply ticked off that Carrie Underwood appears to have a gilded life. Her albums sell in spite of their lack of endorsement. Her singles rise on the charts and sell better than any other female country artist. She has a voice that is lauded in the music industry as one of the best. She has looks, she has brains, and she has loads of talent. She is respected in the entertainment business as a whole and not just country. She has diversified and branched out into other areas of the entertainment and fashion industry. And most of all, she is happy in her personal life. She has stated that her life has no drama, sorry rag mags. On the outside looking in, everything she touches turns to gold. And that just rubs some people in the industry the wrong way. So they nit-pick and negatively criticize every chance they get. All these excuses they pull out: she doesn't write her own songs, and now her songs aren't personal enough. Really! I didn't know country songs had to be confessionals. Do the men in country music write about personal matters. Give me a break. I applaud Carrie for being who she is. She has cowritten (like most other artists) many of her hits. She has narrated great songs that address serious concerns, and others that reflect the human experience. Carrie Underwood brought me to country music and I have to say that the more I read and hear about this genre and how it works, the attitudes, expectations the more I scratch my head in disbelief and amazement . Rant done.

^ So glad the reviewer recognizes the fact these two are just different artists, no bias nonsense! An Aussie fan posted pics of the album booklet and some sneak peek of songs here i.instagram.com/carrieu_aus/

Church Bells is much better than what the clip led me to believe. The beginning scared the s**t out of me!
I'm just at the first minute of Choctaw and I had to pause so I can marvel at the brilliance. You know, it almost feels like these songs are too good for current country radio. Is there even a story song in the top 50?

"Chaser" and "Relapse" sound like they could have been on "Some Hearts"... which is a GREAT thing! Both are AMAZING! Only song I'm not over the top about so far is "Dirty Laundry", but it's still very cool!

Incredible album. Her best yet, and her voice is stronger than ever. I'll post a full review later, but the singles should be (in order): Choctaw County Affair, Dirty Launry, ugh I legit can't decide. TGYTIA, Relapse, CDS, Chaser, Mexico, and CB all need to see release.

Those drums on "Church Bells"... HOLY HELL, jumped out of my chair! They might have to take those out of the radio edit if it's a single, any driver would probably think they crashed! LMAO!

This album is so freakin' cool. I have to stop every once and a while and sigh & gush at how good it is. Carrie's vocals are unreal... her phrasing... her vocal choices...surprises... OH. MY. I'm soooo happy! Production is amazing! I love the drums and percussion.
I'm on Chaser now. And it's really good too. I haven't even heard the songs after that yet.
Love, love, love this album.

It's like she took the best elements from all of her albums and put them into one. I especially hear elements of "Some Hearts" and "Blown Away", LOVE IT!

WHOA, Relapse! I agree with Dauphin. "Sensual" is right. That first verse ending with "what... can... it... hurt" and then the build-up to the chorus-- I felt the heat and I could imagine the hot, hot sex. *fans self*
I have to let these songs marinate and I need repeated listens. It's like all the elements (vocals, lyrics, production) come perfectly together to create such a mood, a feeling, a vivid image.

Working through the album sporadically. Just listened to "Relapse", "Church Bells", "Dirty Laundry", 'Choctaw', and "Chaser". Let's gather in a circle and have a brief moment of silence, y'all. Fold your hands and pray.

Eh, this album is too good for the CMA/ACMs. They wouldn't know how to appreciate this if it slapped them upside their heads.
Guys, I think I'm head over heels in lust with Relapse. It's the one I keep coming back to right now.
