Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber's "Monster" was a great song

Mentioned this before, but I've really liked most of the TikTok songs lately and appreciate that new artists are able to enter the scene

I can't wait for Taylor Swift to leave the forest and find some uptempo songs again.

Was talking about this in the Discord a few days ago but I think it's worth saying: Katy Perry's music videos have mostly been bad.

High Hopes is overhated, it's actually a decent song.

I don't get the hype for No Doubt.
Like outside of it being the introduction of Gwen Stefani, I don't really see what all the noise was about. There were better alt bands in the 90s

High Hopes is overhated, it's actually a decent song. Let's expand on this hot take - "Hey Look Ma, I Made It" is also pretty solid, and while the production is definitely artificial-sounding, it works to reflect the lyrical themes of the song. And even if I'm not fond of Brendon Urie as a person at all anymore, I still don't see the song as necessarily arrogant, but more reeking in trying to convince oneself he's made it despite the costs.

I don't know if this unpopular or not but I never realized how great most of One Direction's hits are, the only bad one I can think of is What Makes You Beautiful other than their hits have been at worst okay.

The 80s was a boring decade for music, every decade that came after it is much better.

"Drivers License" is really boring and not all that unique. I agree. The way people talk about it, you would think the song is sung by a hybrid of Mariah/Whitney/Aretha and the lyrics were written by Paul McCartney/Mariah/Diane Warren. I find it generic. This is the unpopular opinions threads so there! I'm aware it is an unpopular opinion.

I can't say all of Diane Warren's lyrics and melodies are generic. But I am sticking to my unpopular opinion because that is what this section is for.

I just thought it was an amusing example. ๐ Onto other notes, while I donโt think Drivers License is particularly spectacular, I think itโs still too deep and too smart for the average pop music fan.

I've been listening to music for more than 4 decades and I fail to see what's so grand about it. But that doesn't mean I reckon those who like it are not deep or smart. I do appreciate that different people like different things.

We share that opinion. But Drivers License is generic and mediocre, I can't listen to that song at all but have no problem with anyone else who likes it.

Medorictiy gets packaged as good t and its sells...the bar is so low today and most of every song today is mediocre and generic top 40 trash...and it's sad we will never get another Whitney, Aretha, or Mariah...never...but at least we have the good classics

She, Babyface, and Mariah are the BEST songwriters ever and of course gotta give my girl Janet some credit too!

She makes ballads, and ballads aren't going to always sound different. However, I prefer Grammy winning 11 week #1 Un-Break My Heart, and the others over the music today especially that tragic drivers ed song.
