AIC are one of the few bands who replaced a lead singer and still kick ass. AC/DC is one of the only other bands I can think of. Van Halen I guess but I never was big on the Sammy Hagar years.

Black Sabbath anyone? Genesis? Then there's Journey? though none really had heard about em before the Steve Perry years. LOL!

The rest of Lostprophets going from a sex offender to Geoff Rickly is an even rarer breed: A band upgrading from their previous singer. (Seriously, No Devotion is awesome, and you guys should check them out if you haven't.)

I actually meant Journey with Greg Rolie; the vocalist before, Steve Perry. That's where my original comment came from, but Steve was replaced by Steve Augeri, whome lasted with Journey up untill the early 2000s and they did record Arrival and Generations. Finally ;is Arnel Pineda. That's when Revelation was released. Why I know this? becuase I follow Journey for many years. I guess they take prize for most line up changes in lead singers? and every other position too

how many bands have swapped their lead singer for someone of another gender? Sneaker Pimps did it (female to male), and i'm sure there are others but i can't think of them now

Technically maybe but Tom/Laura sounds exactly the same so I don't think that's what he meant

With a bit of a delay due to a four day Internet outage on my end, the results are here for our 16th vote. In their second appearance on the ballot, Tool rise to the occasion with 8 votes. 311 fall off the ballot for the least overall support among the three songs that tied with 2 votes. The Smashing Pumpkins enter the ballot for the first time after a long time just sitting underneath a slot. The other new entry is Tame Impala, perhaps still riding off momentum from their grammy-nominated album Currents. Just missing out this week on a ballot slot were Pearl Jam, INXS, Death Cab For Cutie, The Cure, and Silversun Pickups.
Here are the full standings:Tool - 8 David Bowie - 6 Nirvana - 5 Deftones - 5 Radiohead - 4 Coldplay - 4 blink-182 - 3 The White Stripes - 2 The Cars - 2 311 - 2Here's the link to the Tool ballot!Voting closes Wednesday, March 9th at Midnight EST. Thanks for voting!

Oh my god, this is going to be torture. Other than #1 (and maybe #2), I'm going to struggle figuring out which Tool songs to leave off.

My favorite band, so this was hard. Not many singles, but then again you don't listen to them for the signles.

Hmm, Tool is not available on Spotify or Google Play Music. Anyone recommend a free method to stream their songs? I think there are some full albums on youtube but then is hard to know which song it's on.

I think there are some full albums on youtube but then is hard to know which song it's on. The best bet is YouTube. The full albums there do have timestamps in the description, and usually, it's easy to keep track when songs change to new ones with Tool. Unless you want to buy the physical albums (and they're worth it), with how resistant Maynard is to the digital format, this may be the way that it is for the foreseeable future. Good god, this was tough. This might actually have been the toughest non-Muse vote to date. In some ways, it was even more difficult. Half singles, half album cuts. 1 from Undertow 3 from Aenima 5 from Lateralus 1 from 10,000 Days (Of the six that just missed (and I mean just missed), three were from 10,000 Days, 2 from Aenima, and 1 from Lateralus.)

honestly, i haven't listened to much Tool...it's not really my kind of music...BUT, i've gone thru most of their discography for this & at least now i can understand what others see in them...they're never going to be my favorite band but i now have a newfound respect for them

A question I received regarded the two part Wings For Marie on 10,000 Days , and whether they should be submitted as separate entries or the same entry. I defaulted to the tracklist from the band which lists them as separate tracks. So if you want to submit both parts please list them separately (of course you can also only submit one or the other if you'd prefer).
As an example to contrast, a song like Green Day's "Jesus of Suburbia" has five different parts, however the song is only listed as a single entry on the tracklist. I think solution that makes the most sense to use for future artists that may have a similar issue.

The third time I saw Tool live, I took DXM, and somehow the two combined to do something truly amazing something like which I've never experienced with any drug before, and I only took like a standard dose. It sounds kinda corny but I saw and felt some kind of Tool energy radiating from the band and the whole thing with all the live visuals was such a celestial smorgasbord that elevated me to such spiritual transcendence. I can't guarantee this would be repeated again, but it could be worth a try. Anyway, they're amazing live, whatever your state is, and seeing them live is a experience I will definitely endorse. Anywho, I included: 2 from Undertow 2 from Aenima 3 from Lateralus 3 from 10,000 Days They truly are an immaculate band. Hee hee.

All I know from Tool are the songs that I've previewed on the 90's best of Tournament. Any hints on what albumes I can find thier most melodic material? As melodic as Tool can get I guess?

"Prison Sex" is the most melodic I can think of. This list was brutal. I was never a Tool fan at first but I got into them. I had to leave off "H.", "No Quarter", "Eulogy", "Parabola", "Jambi"...

Thanks. That;s a song I can get into. I'm guessing my list will be done out of songs with that vibe; once I preview more of their material.

Tool should be easy! They always have 2-3 songs on every album and then a bunch of self-indulgent noodling.

I wanted to shot myself when I found out Tool came to NC and I missed them.
Had a tough time with this one, of course Tool are one of my favorite bands and my favorite song by them will surely be solely me. Had to leave off their biggest hit Schism and fan favorite Pushiy tjough

Submitted mine after listening to their entire discography. Including the instrumentals and voice over songs. I have to say; Tool is surely not for everyone. Four albums and I didn't find anything else that sounded like "Prison Sex". In fact most songs took me to dark places I don't like to go to, but at the same time, I couldn't stop listening to the songs. I think you have to be at another level to listen to Tool's music. I had to insert other uptempo songs inbetween Tool's songs, in order not succumb to certain dark places; I've left behind in the past. That still didn't stop my Mother from asking what I was listening to? I did manage to choose 10 songs. Mind you all, that they are probobly not the ones most chose; since I think most fans would choose the darker subject matter songs. I chose the most guitar oriented songs I could find. "Swamp Song" , "Jambi" and so on.... It certainly was a different listening experience from what I usually blast out of my speakers. In the end; all I gotta say, is that I respect those who "get" or understand, their material. They are obviously a tremendously artistic band, but at a level that probobly isn't for everyone?
