I agree with 14887fan. I'll be shocked if LBT aren't the big winners of the night. I think everything they'll (likely) be up for is theirs to lose, except for Album.

If there is a category I am curious for is Female vocalist as I see it being between Carrie Miranda and Kelsea. Kelsea has the all radio #1 and a decently received album. Carrie has 2 top 5s but no official album. Miranda has a Top 10 and a Top 20 song and a headlining tour. I think I'd put it at this.
Carrie 35% Miranda 30% Kelsea 25% Reba 10%
I am so looking forward to that

I love Kelsea, but there's not a chance in hell of her winning Female Vocalist this year, lol. Reba or Kacey would probably have a better chance than her because of the critical acclaim side of things, but I'm sure it'll come down to Miranda vs. Carrie like it always does. Miranda cooled off a bit this year and Carrie performed better at radio with two big hits, but Carrie didn't exactly have a banner year as she still had plenty of downtime since she was working on her next album and became a new mom.
Also would be surprised to see anyone but Little Big Town win Group because lately they tend to be the automatic frontrunner anyway, but "Girl Crush" really sealed the deal by being the biggest hit of the year. Zac Brown Band had a nice rebound after the cooling off they did with Uncaged, but I just don't see them taking it.

Now I think Kelsea this time next year if Dibs and it's followup are successful than she'll be in the discussion cause I don't see Miranda having the best next era. I really think she's gonna keep making bad single choices like Little Red Wagon type songs. Carrie I think she'll go win this year and as long as Carrie doesn't do terrible single choices like Miranda should win for a while. But I think in the next few years if Kelsea really catches on she can be in the discussion soon.

I'd bet almost anything that LBT will win Group of the Year. I'm truly shocked that there are people who think otherwise... They've won it in years when they didn't even have a really big hit (2013/2014). Now, they have undoubtedly the biggest song in country music this past year! They've also won it the past three years, I don't see voters changing that after the year they've had.

I think it's cause Pain Killer wasn't the best received and while Jekyll + Hyde has it's fair share of issues it got better reception but a lot of people weren't impressed with Pain Killer. I also think if Girl Crush does get those awards for single and song of the year and video they might wanna have multipile winners and why not award the band with an album that sold more. Do I want Little Big Town to win yes there my faves but too many nominations and wins can really shake things up in a category Right now I'd say Little Big Town 70% Zac Brown Band 30%

I can't say for sure, but I don't think voters vote with fairness in mind. When looking at each category, a voter will vote for their favorite and/or the artist that benefits them the most and/or the best in the category. No one, it would seem, is really concerned while voting about over-awarding a specific song or artist. At least this is the case in recent years, i.e. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton who have won a combined 20+ CMA awards since 2010.

She may not have hits but maybe having a critically acclaimed album could be enough in such a slow year for females in country. She won big awards In the past (New Artist, Song of the Year) without having the same radio support as her opponents at the CMAs... Maybe it could happen again?! She certainly has a chance

Ok here is my predictions.
Entertainer Jason Aldean Luke Bryan Garth Brooks Kenny Chesney Florida Georgia Line
Male Jason Aldean Luke Bryan Blake Shelton Dierks Bentley Keith Urban
Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, or Eric Church could easily get in this category as well.
Female Miranda Lambert Carrie Underwood Reba Kelsea Ballerini Kacey Musgraves
Group Little Big Town Zac Brown Band Lady Antebellum Rascal Flatts A Thousand Horses
Duo Florida Georgia Line Big & Rich Dan & Shay Thompson Square Maddi & Tae
New Artist Sam Hunt Cole Swindell Kelsea Ballerini Frankie Ballard Maddie & Tae
Song "Girl Crush"- Little Big Town "Take Your Time"- Sam Hunt "Dirt"- Florida Georgia Line "Say You Do"- Dierks Bentley "Traveller"- Chris Stapleton
"Follow Your Arrow" won last year so "Traveller" has a good chance at getting in this category but winning over "Girl Crush" maybe impossible for anyone.
Album- I picked 8 Old Boots, New Dirt- Jason Aldean Montevallo- Sam Hunt Moonshine In The Trunk- Brad Paisley Bringing Back The Sunshine- Blake Shelton Pain Killer- Little Big Town Traveller- Chris Stapleton Anything Goes- Florida Georgia Line Just As I Am- Brantley Gilbert
A lot of good albums could get in this category though......

Is it just me or do the CMAs typically lean toward a bit more traditional than the other award shows? I mean in terms of both nominees and winners.

Here are my early predictions. Some thoughts: I'm not as confident as everyone else in Sam Hunt getting nominations in Male/Album/Single categories; Jason Aldean will again be snubbed in the Entertainer category, but it'll be hard to pass him up this year in the Male Vocalist category (that'll likely be his only nomination though); I think Blake Shelton is the strongest contender again for Male Vocalist and has an early lead in the Album category.
Entertainer of the Year: Garth Brooks Luke Bryan (frontrunner) Kenny Chesney Blake Shelton Keith Urban
Other Possibilities: Eric Church, Zac Brown Band, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood
Male Vocalist of the Year: Jason Aldean (I think he'll sneak in a nomination here, but I wouldn't be at all surprised by another snub) Luke Bryan Eric Church Blake Shelton (frontrunner...yes I think he has a great shot this year) Keith Urban
Other Possibilities: Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett
Female Vocalist of the Year: Kelsea Ballerini Miranda Lambert Reba McEntire Kacey Musgraves Carrie Underwood (frontrunner)
Other Possibilities: Lee Ann Womack, Sara Evans
Vocal Group of the Year: Lady Antebellum Little Big Town (frontrunner) Rascal Flatts The Band Perry Zac Brown Band
Album of the Year: "The Big Revival," Kenny Chesney "Bringing Back the Sunshine," Blake Shelton (frontrunner) "Jekyll + Hyde," Zac Brown Band "Pain Killer," Little Big Town "Pageant Material," Kacey Musgraves
Other Possibilities: "Traveller," Chris Stapleton "The Way I'm Livin'," Lee Ann Womack "Moonshine In the Truck," Brad Paisley "Old Boots, New Dirt," Jason Aldean "Sundown Heaven Town," Tim McGraw "Just As I Am," Brantley Gilbert
Single of the Year: "American Kids," Kenny Chesney (although this was released a week before last year's eligibility period, its peak came well within this year's eligibility period; for now I'm keeping it in) "Girl Crush," Little Big Town (frontrunner) "Girl In a Country Song," Maddie & Tae "Homegrown," Zac Brown Band "Something In the Water," Carrie Underwood
Other Possibilities: "Dirt," FGL "Love Me Like You Mean It," Kelsea Ballerini "Make Me Wanna," Thomas Rhett "Raise 'Em Up," Keith Urban featuring Eric Church "Sangria," Blake Shelton "Shotgun Rider," Tim McGraw "Take Your Time," Sam Hunt "Talladega," Eric Church
Song of the Year: "American Kids," Rodney Clawson, Luke Laird, Shane McAnally (see above) “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools,” Barry Dean, Luke Laird, Jonathan Singleton "Girl Crush," Lori McKenna, Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose (frontrunner) "Girl In A Country Song," Taylor Dye, Maddie Marlow, Aaron Scherz "Something In the Water,” Chris DeStefano, Brett James, Carrie Underwood
Other Possibilities: "Say You Do," Shane McAnally, Matt Ramsey, Trevor Rosen "Talladega," Eric Church and Luke Laird "Traveller," Chris Stapleton "What We Ain't Got," Travis Meadows and Travis Jerome Goff "Wild Child," Kenny Chesney, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne

My way-too-early nomination predictions: Album of the Year• Pain Killer - Little Big Town • Montevallo - Sam Hunt • Pageant Material - Kacey Musgraves • Traveller - Chris Stapleton • The Way I'm Livin' - Lee Ann Womack • Jekyll + Hyde - Zac Brown Band (I know that's six; I just couldn't narrow it down to five. I give only a slight chance to albums like Kenny's The Big Revival, Blake's Bringing Back The Sunshine, Tim's Sundown Heaven Town, FGL's Anything Goes, Reba's Love Somebody, and Jason's Old Boots, New Dirt) I like and agree with just about all your picks. This category though, while I would absolutely love it if you were right, it reads more like the Grammys rather than the CMAs. I'd have Blake in there and 1 or 2 of your other "slight chances" too. You might be right, but I guess I just feel like the CMA's have done a pretty good job in recent years of balancing critical acclaim with commercial appeal when it comes to the Album of the Year category. 2012 AOTY nominations: • Chief - Eric Church • Four The Record - Miranda Lambert • Home - Dierks Bentley • Own The Night - Lady Antebellum • tailgates & tanlines - Luke Bryan 2013 AOTY nominations: • Based On A True Story... - Blake Shelton • Blown Away - Carrie Underwood • Red - Taylor Swift • Same Trailer Different Park - Kacey Musgraves • Tornado - Little Big Town 2014 AOTY nominations: • Crash My Party - Luke Bryan • Fuse - Keith Urban • Platinum - Miranda Lambert • Riser - Dierks Bentley • The Outsiders - Eric Church Mostly mainstream stars, but most of the albums had pretty good critical acclaim even if they weren't huge sellers. The way I see it, LBT's Pain Killer and Kacey Musgraves' Pageant Material are locks for nominations, and I'd be pretty surprised if Sam Hunt's Montevallo doesn't get nominated as well. With Chris Stapleton I'm less sure -- he hasn't seen nearly as much publicity as Kacey has, for example -- however, Chris does have a lot of connections in Nashville (he's well-respected, he's written a ton of songs), and, like Kacey, he's also backed by the powerful UMG label. I admit that Lee Ann Womack is probably a long shot, but she always seemed to be an awards show favorite throughout much of the 00's. Of course she's likely to be hindered by the fact that she's on a non-mainstream label now (Sugar Hill Records) and she's been 'away' (for lack of a better word) for so long now. So yeah, there's probably a decent chance that artists like Blake, Jason, and/or ZBB push Lee Ann Womack and possibly Chris Stapleton out of the last 2 spots. I'm assuming they'll keep it to 5 nominations, and again, I do think LBT, Kacey, and Sam are locks. I think Stapleton has a decent chance, but unfortunately, out of the really critically-acclaimed albums (which I consider to be those by Kacey, Chris, and LAW), I think Lee Ann Womack probably has the highest chance of being left out. I agree with 14887fan. I'll be shocked if LBT aren't the big winners of the night. I think everything they'll (likely) be up for is theirs to lose, except for Album. I agree that LBT is the favorite to win Vocal Group, but let's not forget that, for the first time ever, the Zac Brown Band is no longer an independent act. They have an extremely good label deal that gives them total creative freedom...and also puts Big Machine and Republic in their corner. I actually think that, if it hadn't been for "Girl Crush", ZBB would have won this year. But I think "Girl Crush" tipped the scales in LBT's favor, yes. I'm just not going to completely rule out the Zac Brown Band.

Couldn't agree more; Blake's album was way off my radar as a potential winner, especially when up against the likes of Red, LBT's Tornado, and Kacey's Same Trailer Different Park. That being said, I would say based on the radio success of this current album he stands a good chance at getting nominated and being a strong contender.

Yep. Even with subjectivity, it just didn't deserve that win. Swift, Underwood, and LBT's albums were leagues ahead of his, and Musgraves' was leagues ahead of all of theirs.

Sam Hunt is the darkhorse to win Male Vocalist of the Year! There's so much momentum right now and he's actually getting critical acclaim with recent award from Music Row.
I'd LOL so hard if Blake Shelton has a Faith Hill freak-out moment if Sam pulls off the upset at the CMA's! :) Finally Blake's strangle hold on MVOTY is over!

Other CMA pushes (it's not known whether these made it to the second round [Top 15] yet): Dustin Lynch - New Artist Rascal Flatts - Group Dierks Bentley - Entertainer, Male, Single, Song, Video Kacey Musgraves - Female, Album (Pageant Material), Video ("Biscuits") Blake Shelton - Entertainer, Male, Album (BRINGING BACK THE SUNSHINE, Single ("Sangria"), Video ("Sangria"), Event ("Lonely Tonight" w/ Ashley Monroe) Dan + Shay - Duo, New Artist
I don't follow others as closely, but all of Underwood's pushes -- Entertainer, Female, Single, Song, and Video -- have made it to the top fifteen of those categories.

I'd die if this is the year, OF ALL YEARS, that Carrie gets her first nomination for Entertainer of the Year. It's a long shot, but top 15 ain't bad! I'd love to see SITW in all those categories, but I think its best shot is in Single of the Year... I can't wait!!! *fingers crossed*

Apologies! Oh, you're fine, I saw the same tweet (I assume) but since Riser is a live video, I'd be surprised if it was for that is all. Riser for SONG, I can see. Anyway, it's not a huge deal either way. I suspect he won't be most-nominated again this year. ;)

Song of the Year is such a wide open category but I'd love to see Mo Pitney's "Country" get nominated. It's a long shot I know but I can dream right?

I kind of skimmed the comments here, but I have to say, I would truly love to see Reba take home FVOTY. Her album is great and she seems to have a great resurgance this year.
