If you're referring to why bugs are crawling all over Nathaniel Ratelliff, it's probably because he's pretty much a dead man with his alcoholism and all. So dead = buried in the ground = decay = bugs crawling all over him.

I'm addicted to this song right now, so freaking good. I hope this reaches #1, its chances are looking pretty good.

I think what little lyrics there are in this song makes perfect sense. It's not a party song. It's about a man who's an alcoholic. It says it right in the song, he's been drinking for 17 years and if someone doesn't stop him he's going to drink his life away. He's asking for help or if help isn't going to come then he needs someone to give him a drink to get through it.
I think imagining & feeling like bugs are crawling over him and hands shaking are very common symptoms of the DTs you get when you're going through severe alcohol withdrawal.
I saw a mini interview with Rateliff where he admitted he used to have a bit of an alcohol problem which is probably what inspired this song.

Drinking a lot is fun as long as other people are paying for it - otherwise, it's like throwing money away (that I can't afford)
BTW the lyrics to this really make no sense - at first it sounds like he's singing to his girlfriend who has passed away, and then he calls her an S. O. B. and asks her to help him get drunk Pretty sure the song is about the narrator dealing with alcoholism, failing to deal with it, and accepting his alcohol problem will probably kill him. He's calling himself a "son of a bitch" for not being able to quit I believe, because why would you call your girlfriend an "S.O.B."? Lol. He says, "I'm gonna cover myself with the ashes of you", so someone's passed away
Not sure what I was thinking when I posted that, though lol - people say "son of a bitch" just to show they're frustrated, without actually calling someone else an SOB

Yeah I'm pretty sure he's just talking about himself and his frustrations throughout the whole song.

And it hits Active. Can't wait for the complaining to start! It kind of fits there really... it is classic soul and rock and roll (rockabilly), so I can see why Active would pick it up. It'll add some much-needed diversity to active stations though!

Still more active than Silversun Pickups and "Uma Thurman" though I think Silversun Pickups fit on Active as far as Alternative bands go. They're are quite heavy at times due to the influence of shoegaze and use of distortion in their songs. "Uma Thurman" should never have touched Active, though.

Yeah this song makes sense on Active IMO. It has a classic rock vibe that makes it fit nicely.

Great now I have to check and see if Rock 105 is adding this? Actually I can accept this charting on Active alot more than I could ever accept it on Alt. We still have to wait and see what kind of damage it does on Active, but I seriously doubt it's gonna race up the charts the same way. The best chart for this song would be AAA, HOT AC, Pop and the Rock Heritage chart in that order. Still this entry isn't as ridiculous as "I Am" on Active.

This is such a hetero-male song, I'd think most Active listeners would really like it - plus, I feel like every time I look at the Active chart it's the same 20 or so bands that are always charting, so this might add some variety to the mix

On the topic of alcohol, I basically love it. Certain beers are good, not that shoddy lite beer. I cringe when someone brings Natty Light over, that's like chugging beer not tasting beer....no you need the good stuff. NYFRB and Dos Equis are really good. Most imports I've had are also good. I enjoy fruity stuff like Redds, Mikes, and Smirnoff but I don't consider them beers. Liquor is a lot better than beer though, mainly cause you can mix it with stuff and I love mixed drinks. One of the best things to have is a big container full of jungle juice just to have around the house and the vodka infused fruit...it's fantastic. Dark liquors are good with dark sodas, Kahlua for creamy/milky stuff(Kahlua+Wendy's Frosty is a godsend), get some of the exotic shit for themed mixed drinks(Tipsy Bartender has a lot of good stuff.) As for wine, I drink it sparingly. It's okay, I prefer red to white though.

Baileys + Kahlua + Stoli Vanil + Godiva Chocolate Liqueur + a chilled martini glass = a tasty liquid desert

Odd because in a Rolling Stone interview, Nate said the song is about a man drinking himself to death after a breakup.

"(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)" is a joke song. This is a song about a man with a serious bug problem.

So the radio edit censors the "god" from "god damn" but not "bitch"?
Man, things are weird.
