But it's classic rock, like what Devin stated I totaly agree. That's why Classic Rock = Heritage chart where classic rock artists go to graze It's music like this that help develop a format that's currently struggling like Active. The Active chart needs some new flavours and genres every now and then to keep listeners interested, or else the Active format will age and die along with its core (and very dominant) demographic.

The Active chart needs some new flavours and genres every now and then to keep listeners interested, or else the Active format will age and die along with its core (and very dominant) demographic. I completely disagree. Not about what you say about new flavours to keep the genre interesting. That's smart, but Active Rock will never die, cuz there isn't any other chart where the harder rock sound would fit. CHR is done with hard rock as is HOT AC. Core groups like Shinedown, Pop Evil and Disturbed are barely grazing the Alt top 40, so that's not an option. No. Active Rock chart will never die. The Heritage one should; as it no longer celebrates the classic core bands like it had in the past. My beef with this song on Active, is that it doesn't sound like active at all. I what I notice about all these charts is that the format grabs songs; regardless if they fit the chart style ,and crosses them over to other charts. and it's usually the ones in the top 5. I remember "Trojans" on Active radio stations too. I love the song to death, but WTF was that about? It's like they are testing out the waters. I don't agree with this at all. What makes sens; would be; for Active to pick out the harder sounding Alt songs; regardless if they are top 5 or #35 and add those, because the sound fits. One example would be The Dead Weather "I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)". That song should be added to Active and it would make sense and probobly perform better there than it's doing on Alt. As it is, there isn't much to choose from; when you think of harder edge on Alt that it isn't already on Active chart. Active is doing the same with that "Stressed Out" song. Why the hell is that on the chart? Because it's Alt's #1 song? It must be, cuz it doesn't have an Active rock vibe to save it's life. Sounds more CHR; than it ever would Active. ? In short; In an Active chart world that made sense; "Psycho" would have been a bigger hit than "Dead Inside", because of its harder sound, but we are no longer living in chart worlds that make sense. So yeah, add "SOB" to Active. Hell; add "2 Heads" while they are it. Who cares if it sounds odd inbetween AC/DC and Shinedown songs , because it's a top 5 hit, right? Wrong. >

Mountain At My Gates should chart on Active too, considering Inhaler went like top 40 and the build-up at the end of the song is quite heavy.

But that song is a bit more heavy and active-friendly than "Mountain At My Gates," so I understand why it isn't charting on Active.

Ah, yes, I stand corrected. Didn't really follow the active charts much then. But it kind of fits there more than, say "Stressed Out" or "Trojans" or "I Will Wait" or "Ho Hey" or "Renegades" (which almost entered the top 50). And, as Dr. Indie pointed out, songs such as "Moaning Lisa Smile" and "I Feel Love..." are active-friendly and should've charted on Active. (I've got no problems with S.O.B. charting though, especially when a country song hit top 20 in March this year)

I'd say it was more Heartland Rock than it was country personally.

I'd say it was more Heartland Rock than it was country personally. I remain firm that the song has a country vibe (if not a slight one). For what it is, it's the most "country" song to hit the top 20 this year. (but yeah, you're right according to Wikipedia. I don't classify artists as heartland rock personally, I'd just put them as either rock and roll or classic rock or country rock)
