Im pleasantly surprised at how well Ex's and Oh's is performing at sales. I didn't expect it to make much of an impact outside Alt Didn't think it was going to rise that high either. But then again, this year's been full of surprise hits. Starting with Fight Song.

The true Canadian Queens are Kristina Maria, Mia Martina and Alyssa Reid I don't know them. I'd be here for a Deborah Cox comeback though! I would too as long as it's not singing Whitney Houston songs in a tired disrespectful 2 dollar Lifetime movie.

28 weeks for El Perdon. Is a record for a song that never reached top 50?

28 weeks for El Perdon. Is a record for a song that never reached top 50? I think someone mentioned the record was 29 weeks for B.o.B. Still, 28 is very impressive!

A little late to the party, but this is my favorite conversation. I ended up making out with a cute older Canadian man at a bar due to my Canadian queen knowledge. Chronologically, (sort of) I think it's:
Joni Mitchell Anne Murray Celine Dion Shania Twain Deborah Cox Sarah McLachlan Alanis Morissett Nelly Furtado Avril Lavigne Justin Bieber Carly Rae Jepsen
If I missed anyone important let me know!! Shania is my queen of them all, if forced to choose from a list of favorites!

Also Chantal Kreviazuk had some minor U.S success. Fefe Dobson maybe? Amanda Marshall has massive success in the mid to late 90's in Canada she had 5 singles in which 4 went top 10 in Canada but never "made it" in the U.S market:(

Greetings all. For my first post (yay) I'd like to ask what the basis for El Perdon not falling to recurrence on this week's chart is. I've seen this happen a few times but never actually understood what the reason is. It lost ground outside the top 50 and is older than 20 weeks. Is it because it has a bullet? Does the 20 week rule only apply for songs which have actually entered the top 50 (which El Perdon hasn't)? Could it be because Billboard considers the song to still be generally rising in popularity and is therefore treating it as a special case? What's the reasoning behind it and other songs which have seen similar chart runs?

yeah, despite not actually rising in position, it's technically gained in performance (or bulleted) for the past few weeks, likely based on the fact that they're now promoting the english version

Also, going back to the Canadian queens discussion, Amanda Marshall did hit the Top 40 twice, one with Birmingham which had a pretty short run despite making the top 20, and then Fall From Grace very briefly. Also add Feist, Tamia, Serena Ryder had a big AAA #1 a few years back with Stompa - unfortunately that came before the AAA takeover of Alternative. I'm likely missing many others.

How peculiar to see physical single sales up. Is there an influx of vinyl singles that could be fueling that?
Digital singles are of course down, but I honestly expect them to start leveling out soon. The influx of streaming was obviously gonna kill them, but I feel streaming is going to plateau soon, effectively halting the downward trend of digital sales. They'll never return to their hay day of 2009-2011, though.
My big question is how will labels adjust to this? We've seen Taylor Swift back out of the largest subscription based streaming service, but we're also starting to see more music videos released same day as the single. It's going to be an interesting few years as the transition is made. Hopefully it'll be smoother than the digital single transition.

^I've seen numerous cd singles at Best Buy.
Some artists are putting out a cd single for the 1st single from a new album.
Kid Rock did it.
