Obviously it has been repeated a thousand times on here how big this song is, but it has been truly shocking to see how ubiquitous it is already in daily life. The amount of people that posted it on Facebook or have talked about it in conversation is crazy to me. It's literally everywhere. EVERYONE already knows and is completely familiar with it. Oh, and not a single person has anything bad to say about it.
I think that is what sets this song apart from the others mentioned. By day 12, you'd absolutely still find someone who didn't know Katy Perry had released "Roar" or that Taylor released "Shake It Off." But I would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't already know the damn lyrics to "Hello."

I believe WBT still holds the record for most formats charted. I'd be genuinely interested to have this clarified, if you or someone else is able to. (How many formats charted, and which ones?)

Which is incorrect as there are plenty of examples in which a massive single followed a massive era. It is highly unusual to have an era be bigger than the previous when the previous was genuinely one of the biggest of all time. Definitely. We could probably count on one hand the number of times it has happened ever. But this isn't one of them yet as we're still directly in the initial hype of the new era right now when predictions go wild.

"hello" being this big does not mean the rest of those songs weren't massive. lol Yes exactly. And LOOH was massive. Wasn't it #1 for like 6 weeks?

Uh...I count six formats in that list. Toss the Hot 100 (not a singular format) and the Pop 100 (another way to measure Pop play, only with sales included) right away. Dance wouldn't really count in the purest sense either, at least not if we're counting radio formats anyway (plus the Dance Club Play chart would be tenuous anyway; it's compiled using playlists rather than using actual airplay). For some reason I feel like the record holder would be a song that charted on more than six formats.

So I just learned the lyrics are not, in fact, "Howl from the other side"', which is what I've been signing for the last week

I'm gonna call this right now: This will easily win the Fall Tournament and will also have a great shot of winning the YE Hot 100 tournament and Daniel Collins's 2015 YE Hot 100 DZ. And maybe even 2016's YE Hot 100 DZ...

I believe WBT still holds the record for most formats charted. I'd be genuinely interested to have this clarified, if you or someone else is able to. (How many formats charted, and which ones?) We Belong Together simultaneously charted on Top 40, Rhythmic, Urban, Urban AC, AC, Hot AC, Dance (not Dance/Music Club play chart but the actual format), and Tropical. That's 8. And it only charted at Tropical for like a month. It was simultaneously #1 on Top 40, Rhythmic, Urban and Urban AC. (I don't know if that's a record)

It charted at Pop, Rhythmic, Urban, Urban AC, Hot AC, AC, Tropical. I know it also gets recurrent airplay from the Smooth Jazz format so it has to have charted there as well (don't know if Mediabase still publishes a chart for that format).

CHART BEAT
Adele Headed for Second Week Atop Hot 100; Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber Set for Debuts
November 05, 2015 2:35 PM EST
Adele should say "Hello" to a second frame on top. Plus, while Grande and Bieber appear headed for notable bows, while Bieber's "Sorry" should sell well in its second week.

So is this about to get knocked off #1 on iTunes by Chris Stapleton?

This song is only successful because of the Rick Ross remix. Obviously it has nothing to do with her flawless voice, perfect roll-out, HUGE last era, immense amounts of hype, and gorgeous video. Yea, the only reason is because of the remix. Yeah, I know, I was just joking. Rick Ross has bigger titties than Adele though.

So is this about to get knocked off #1 on iTunes by Chris Stapleton? Hurricane Adele told Chris he will not make landfall! She's increasing and he's currently decreasing. It's a great showing of the impact of the CMAs. Let's see the impact of the AMAs in comparison.

2 weeks later, this is firmly my favorite lead single from her. I still think some kind of b-section that matches the escalation of the chorus would have done this well since it's so powerful and singular, but it's still just solid.
