Found it through Adele's Twitter. I just wanted to watch the video on my MacBook Pro. I was still afraid I could be disappointed. Fuck no! I was haunted from beginning to end. Had some teary eyes  she just knows how to connect with her voice. Love the song. The best I've heard this year so far. She carries the song, but the production highlights it when it's needed and accompanies her in other parts. And yes, no one can touch her vocally at all. So excited!!! PS: this is of course her best video yet too. She looks gorgeous (those eyes!!!!) and I like her acting too. Flawless ! |

Boring, safe, and underwhelming. :/. Love(d) Adele. Not a 'bad' song and of course it'll smash cause how could it not lol. Just sounds very try hard unlike the rawness and organic sound/vibe of Chasing Payments and RITD. People just reeally wanted new Adele. She's def. at that MJ/Thriller, Madonna LAV epic 'level' of pre hype now doing that old school 4-5 years between records. This is almost as impactful as I Just Can't Stop Loving You. Song drops and I'm like...4-5 years and 'that's it'  I'm feeling underwhelmed but of course the masses won't allow this not to smash. |

Ss8: how is this a safe song? What other song like this you've heard recently? Seriously. We haven't really heard this type of power ballad in a looooooong time.
How can this be boring?! Especially when you mention Chasing pavements, which is a great song but musically less dynamic than Hello.
It may be underwhelmed for you if you expected something more like RITD, I can give that to you.
But safe and boring are inaccurate statements for this song

Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep are her magnum opus. This is amazing, incredible, vocal performance beyond what I could have ever expected (not talking the chorus. The honesty and detail in her vocal during the verses), but..it's on the level of Turning Tables/Set Fire To The Rain. Which is a phenomenal level to be on, because everyone else's singleography highlights don't even compare to that.
Does it top Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep? No. I was kind of hoping it would, but it doesn't. Phenomenal song though and will undoubtedly be #1 on my playlist. Like who hasn't experienced this?

I wasn't expecting RITD. That's a masterful song that rarely appears twice in a singer's discography. SLY is superb as a piano ballad with one of the best vocal performances. I consider SLY at same level as SFTR tho, for different reasons, and both as GREAT songs. From a first listen perspective, I put Hello at that level. That may change later, but I think that's a great achievement! As you said ssmowie, these songs are at another level.

It's a good song, maybe with repeated listens I'll get to the "OMG this is fucking incredible... it was worth the wait!" state most of you all are in. Right now, I enjoy it, but I'm definitely not loving it. "Rolling In The Deep" (you know comparisons were gonna come!) was instant knockout for me.
What I'm impressed with is her vocal performance on the chorus. The live performances are going to be interesting.

Wow a few hours ago i was saying she was a non factor in my life even though i always enjoyed her voice but this song after 3 listens is just so powerful and soulful. I love the lyrics and odd as it sounds it just makes me think of my mother. For those of who are slightly broken this bitch made us a anthem of sorry and forgiveness! #YASSADELESPEAKTOME
