There's too much even going on in here.
a) demographics and stereotypes are two different things. Both of which have been given as examples in this thread.
b) men and women in entertainment both have different pressure placed upon them as they age and much of it has to do with societies expectations on the two genders. I mentioned this before about the different ideas people have for what they consider as being attractive for men and women. Women who are attractive are deemed so more on looks while men are often deemed attractive for qualities other than their looks.
c) Cher's biggest fanbase is very likely her gay fanbase. cii) Being a fan of Cher isn't a requirement of being gay.
d) Is Cher even considered "sexy"? She's definitely confident and has a strong personality. For some, that is more than enough to be sexy. In the visual sense, does she conform to whatever is considered "sexy"? dii) Is trying to be "sexy" a negative thing, is it somehow diminishing to someone's persona? I get the impression in this thread that attempting to be "sexy" for image's sake is automatically sacrificing integrity or self-respect or something. What's wrong with wanting to be sexy in any sense of the word?
e) To say women dress a certain way because men is to say women lack the ability to make their own choices. While I definitely understand that there is a lot of pressure for women in entertainment to be a certain way in order to succeed (and this is a discussion in itself, although this thread isn't the place for it), I figure someone like Cher can make her own decisions and very likely does make her own decisions on how she presents herself. There's something problematic in the assumption that, as a woman, she or others like her don't make their own decisions because men.

There's something problematic in the assumption that, as a woman, she or others like her don't make their own decisions because men. Have to agree with you on everything this time. Well said. Now about Cher being "sexy". I agree that would probably not be the best word to describe her looks, but when she wears something like this (http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/04/11/article-0-1D025F8000000578-332_634x617.jpg) the outfit would be usually related to sex. Can we say that she dresses in a sexual manner? I don't know if that's a thing in English. Like Miley Cyrus, she's usually showing her body or baring her breasts in a way that's not really sexy, but doing that is automatically connected to sexual in our society, right? And no, I see absolutely no problem is beign naked, wearing pasties or doing whatever else they want to do.

Blank Space is split between two years. Its total sales are much higher. Oh, that's true! Do you have the total numbers? According to the 2014 YTD thread on UKMix, it sold about 2.5 million in 2014. So that would be 4.3 million total. Shake It Off is still ahead, though, with around 4.85 million total.
