150. "May We All" - Florida Georgia Line ft. Tim McGraw Peak: 32 (so far) Total Points: 105 Certification: None
The countdown kicks off with the current single from Florida Georgia Line. This song has seen wide acclaim among the country community, because it is the 3rd single release in a row from FGL that actually seems to have some substance and show artistic growth. It hasn't exactly been racing up my chart though; I honestly do not like this song nearly as much as everyone else does. I mean, it is great for an FGL song, but to be honest that bar is already so low that I'm not sure if I could even slip my foot under it... For me this song would definitely be a station-changer from an artist who usually releases music of a consistently high quality. I do particularly enjoy the inclusion of Tim McGraw on this song though! That was an excellent idea. I am just a little bit surprised that this song has already racked up enough points to be on this countdown, but I guess it has been charting for 11 weeks already. This song barely snuck up to #150 thanks to the points it earned in the very last week of 2016. The one benefit to that, though, is that it pushed out Blake Shelton's "Came Here To Forget", so I am certainly not complaining about that!
Yeah, you learn to fly, And if you can't then you just free fall.

149. "Run Away With You" - Big & Rich Peak: 15 Total Points: 106 Certification: None
Big & Rich has put together a nice string of quality hits the last couple years, and this was one of them. I really enjoyed this song throughout the summer of 2015, but by the time my chart began in November I was getting sick of it. This is not really a song that I want to hear in heavy rotation all the time. It therefore landed at #15 on my chart in the first week, and then only fell from there. But I guess 3 weeks on the chart was all it need to earn 106 points and land on this countdown! And I am glad it did, because I had kinda forgotten about it lately, and it is definitely a good enough song to be worth remembering.
This life's like a riptide, and we're barely hangin' on. Caught up in the worry and always in a hurry, losin' what we're all about. Let's slow it down.

148. "Let Me See Ya Girl" - Cole Swindell Peak: 27 Total Points: 106 Certification: None
Lol yes, this song made it onto my countdown... This is the definition of a guilty pleasure for me. The lyrics are stupid, and Cole's vocals have always been subpar for me. But the MELODY!! Lol this song is infectious! Like, I legitimately hope there are no women out there who listen to this song and think, "YES, I've always wanted a man like that in my life!" But honestly I can totally see why people would just completely excuse such blatantly stupid lyrics when there is such a catchy melody. I am not normally that way, but I am almost willing to do it with this song. I say "almost" because it only peaked at #27 on my chart, so I didn't exactly make it a hit. But it did do well enough to chart at the bottom of this countdown, which is just fine by me.
I can see you gettin' my tailgate rocking', Movin' your hips like the wind moves cotton.
(There are literally no good lyrics in this song, so I went with the most laughably-bad one. :kii: )

147. "Waitin' On A Plane" - Maddie & Tae Peak: 27 (so far) Total Points: 111 Certification: None
Maddie & Tae are absolutely lighting my chart on fire with their newest album track that I decided to chart. They have flown through almost half my chart in 7 weeks, also earning enough points to land on this countdown. This is a big hit in the making, and will very likely be MUCH higher on the 2017 year-end chart. I am just glad to see it at all in this countdown though, considering how new it is! Maddie & Tae are probably my favorite new act in the last couple years. They have by far been one of the most consistent artists on my chart this year, behind maybe only Reba (I'll try to find numbers for who were the top-earning artists this year, but I don't have them yet.) And these girls should have new music coming in early 2017, so next year might be even bigger for them than this one was! Anyway, this is definitely only the first of many entries on this countdown for Maddie & Tae. I can't wait to see how high their other songs make it!
I want my heart to see That there ain't no shame reachin' out for the next dream.

146. "Different For Girls" - Dierks Bentley ft. Elle King Peak: 34 Total Points: 114 Certification: None
I am really sad about Dierks Bentley's output since I started making a chart. 2014 and 2015 were SO GOOD between "Bourbon In Kentucky", "I Hold On", "Drunk On A Plane", "Say You Do", and "Riser", all of which would have probably hit #1 on my chart if I had made it back then. His latest era, however, has been absolutely awful! The first single, "Somewhere On A Beach", finished at #178 on this countdown, with a meager 24 points, after peaking at #43 earlier this year. "Different For Girls" was definitely a step in the right direction, but when I first heard it I knew it was going to have to grow on me. Unfortunately, it went the opposite way. I actually detested this song by the time it went recurrent on the country charts. That's why it fell off of my chart so abruptly just outside the top 30. I was just so sick of it. Which is really not fair at all, because as a song there is nothing specifically wrong with it! I don't even have problems with the overgeneralizing lyrics, which is where most people based their complaints. Something about the sound of the song just didn't work for me. I think the biggest problem was Elle King's voice, actually. She sounds like a garden gnome with peanut butter stuck on the roof of its mouth. Oh well, this song still did well enough to represent 2016 in this countdown, but it definitely will not show up on any future best-of charts. They don't take someone home and act like it's nothing. They can't just switch it off every time they feel something.Tags for Day 1! chicken077 , castleoblivion26 , trustypepper , .indulgecountry , Leo ✔ , d3vin44 , someguy , gardyfan , codyj100 , Kanenrá:ke Also, if anyone wants to take a stab at my top 5, I would love to hear predictions!

I loooove "Waitin' on a Plane." It's up there with "Shut Up and Fish" as my favorites from M&T's debut. I like "May We All" and "Different for Girls" a lot, too. <3

Omg this is starting!!! And wow, I'm actually recognizing quite a few songs here, more than I expected! Happy that May We All, Waitin' On A Plane, and Different For Girls made it on here!! So excited for this countdown to continue! :) And lol, literally NO idea what your top 5 is going to be because I didn't really follow your chart until this summer. But hopefully "Peter Pan" is gonna be in that elite 5!

145. "She's Got A Way With Words" - Blake Shelton Peak: 30 Total Points: 116 Certification: None
Similar to Dierks, I am very disappointed in Blake Shelton since I started making a chart. Yeah, he has been a super vanilla artist for many years now, but the last couple years it really seemed like he was moving away from that. "Neon Light", "Lonely Tonight", "Sangria", and (to a lesser extent) "Gonna" were all steps in the right direction that I loved. Now his newest album era has been more bland and forgetful than anything he had ever released previously. The first single "Came Here To Forget" actually just barely got bumped off of the countdown, landing at #151. And this song did just marginally better, because I actually do like it a little bit more. I do not dislike this song like most people seemed to. I actually think the lyrics are pretty clever! The bad part of this song is the lifeless vocal performance. The chorus is just sooooooo long, and it plods on because the melody is so repetitive and emotionless.
When you put two and two together You figure out love's got four letters. I shoulda known that when I met her, But she had to spell it out for me.

144. "It All Started With A Beer" - Frankie Ballard Peak: 36 Total Points: 118 Certification: None
Frankie Ballard is probably the blandest, most forgettable newer artist of my entire lifetime. I have not liked any of his songs so far, despite every hit from his first album going #1. That being said, this song is by far his strongest release. Or at least I always wanted to think so, which is why it charted long enough to end up on the countdown. However it burnt on me extremely quickly, and became a station-changer before it could even enter the top 35 of my chart. If Frankie were to disappear from the music industry forever, I literally would not even notice. His voice isn't very great, and his output is super vanilla, so I'm not surprised that his second album has sold literally only like a dozen copies.
That jukebox sang every song just right that night. Somethin' brewing in the air and it was more than just smoke.

143. "Diamonds" - Brooke Eden Peak: 29 (so far) Total Points: 126 Certification: None
Another currently charting song that debuted recently and managed to sneak onto the countdown. I love everything about Brooke's voice! Her vocals are so powerful, with a little bit of rasp, giving everything she touches an infusion of soul. This song is not nearly as good as her debut, "Daddy's Money", but I am still rooting for her as an artist because I would love to see her become a superstar with that voice. Unfortunately this does not look like it is going to be the song that launches her, but I am not too surprised considering how vanilla the song is. I do wish she would tone down her production a bit. I mean, I am obviously a huge supporter of the pop-country artists of the '90s and '00s, like Martina McBride and Sara Evans, but every single one of Brooke's songs sounds like a wall-of-sound. I think her songs would be more memorable if they featured more dynamic range. I usually enjoy a blend of pop and country, but she is very close to going overboard with the sound, imo.
Cause we got sparkle, baby we got class. But it ain't about what you got, it's what you live for anyway. We ain't worried about what we're not.

142. "Fly" - Maddie & Tae Peak: 3 Total Points: 126 Certification: None
The girls show up again, becoming the first group to have 2 songs on the countdown! "Fly" is an amazing song, but unfortunately it kinda pre-dates my chart. It debuted and peaked at #3 in the very first week of my chart, and then went recurrent in the 3rd week. (Fun fact: If I were to go back and try to create a chart before my first chart, this would have probably been #1!) So it really doesn't belong in a 2016 countdown, but since it was on my chart very briefly in the beginning it did manage to earn a spot on the countdown. Since it spent multiple weeks in the top 10, plus earned some favorites points, it was able to make it into the top 150! Anyway, one of my favorite aspects of Maddie & Tae's music is Tae's stunning harmony vocals, and on this song they are especially strong. I am super thrilled that "Fly" managed to become a hit for them on real country radio, because it sounds likes something Martina might have been successful with in the mid-00's, but not exactly the type of material a brand new female duo in 2015 would get a hit with...
Running down her dreams in a dirty dress, Now her heart's a mess Praying she will find a way to make it.

141. "Everybody We Know Does" - Chase Rice Peak: 38 Total Points: 129 Certification: NoneI hate everything about Chase Rice. The guy has no redeeming qualities. He has a bad voice, he has a sleazy sexist persona/vibe, and he even has a bit of a reputation for being a douche as a person (or at least that's the impression I get from interviews/tweets). Not to mention his music is pretty much the last desperate dying gasp of bro-country. So naturally I approach everything he does with HUGE reservations. I always expect that worst possible experience. And that is exactly what caused me to somewhat like this song! Haha whoops! The first time I heard this I was like, "Hey, that's not nearly as awful as it should be!" And then it got stuck in my head... In the chorus I even get Chris Cagle vibes (although Chase is obviously inferior vocally), which is always good for a dose of major nostalgia. Chase Rice is still incredibly overrated, and is one of very few artists who I am honestly rooting for to lose all credibility and disappear forever... But this song is actually much better than I was expecting from him, so it did well enough on my chart to actually end up on this countdown.
Not everybody understands how we make it; Hold it together when we feel like breaking. Not everybody knows what we're made of, But everybody we know does.
And that concludes day 2! I hope y'all are somewhat enjoying this so far! chicken077, castleoblivion26, trustypepper, .indulgecountry, Leo ✔, d3vin44, someguy, gardyfan, codyj100, Kanenrá:ke

"Fly" yassss! Love, love, love! I kinda felt like I was supposed to hate that Blake Shelton song because it seemed like everyone else did... but I kinda liked it? Like I didn't seek it out on its own, but I enjoyed it well enough on the radio and it was memorable -- something that can't be said of "A Guy with a Girl."

FLY!!! What an awesome song! Sad to see it didn't hit #1 simply because your chart started later than its peak... But still, happy to see it on your YE chart!! It was one of the few country songs I enjoyed back in 2015, and it's run on my chart is absolutely legendary! It's probably my favorite Maddie & Tae song and it's just a beautiful masterpiece. I bet you, if the song is released now, it'll definitely be a massive #1 since I'm kinda into country now :) Haven't heard the other songs, but I'll definitely listen to them! Keep up the great countdown!

140. "A Little More Love" - Jerrod Niemann ft. Lee Brice Peak: 36 Total Points: 131 Certification: None
I actually forgot about this song, (despite it literally just going recurrent on the country charts), so I am a little surprised to see it show up on this countdown. This is another song that I never particularly cared for to begin with, and then wore on me quickly. The verses are atrocious, but I do somewhat enjoy listening to the chorus. There is a feel-good vibe that you can't help tapping your toes to even if you are not the biggest fan of the song. I am a little surprised to see it flop on the country charts like it did, but I can't say I'm too torn up about it. Hopefully Jerrod and Lee will both come back with much stronger singles than this with their next attempts.

139. "Better Man" - Little Big Town Peak: 24 (so far) Total Points: 132 Certification: NoneOh my goodness, this song is going to be HUGE!!!!! I am so glad it was released with just enough time for it to edge its way onto this countdown. This is probably my favorite song from Little Big Town ever. The acclaim it has gotten so far is ridiculous but totally deserved. And the fact that Taylor Swift wrote it should help it be that much more successful! I know some people are getting tired of Karen singing lead on LBT singles, but let's be real, her vocals are absolutely perfect on this song. She has such a strong alto voice, which is so rare in music these days. I cannot wait to see how high this song makes it on the 2017 year-end countdown, because I would say that the top 3 is probably very likely if I continue to love it the way I do now!! I know I’m probably better off all alone Than needing a man who could change his mind at any given minute. And it’s always on your terms. I’m hanging on every careless word, Hoping it might turn sweet again Like it was in the beginning. But your jealousy, I can hear it now. You’re talking down to me like I’ll always be around. You push my love away like it’s some kind of loaded gun. Boy, you never thought I’d run.
Honestly, I should just quote this entire song

138. "Better Than You Left Me" - Mickey Guyton Peak: 1 (1 week) Total Points: 139 Certification: None
Wow, this was the very first #1 on my chart, back in November of 2015! Which means it fell off my chart after only 3 weeks, but apparently spending 3 weeks in the top 5/top 10 this song was still able to rack up enough points to sneak onto the bottom end of the countdown. Which is definitely a good thing! This song is epic! Mickey Guyton has an amazing voice, with a massive upper range. I cannot wait to see where her career takes her. I would like to think there are great things ahead for her, because she is SO GOOD. This song, just like "Fly", pre-dates my chart by a bit, so I have no way of knowing just how huge of a hit it would have been if I had had a chart during the majority of its release. But unfortunately Mickey does not have an album out like Maddie & Tae do, so she has not been as active of a charter. Hopefully she'll get to release one soon!
Now, here you are Trying to win back my heart, And I bet you thought it'd be easy to do. But baby, I've changed. Now you get a taste of standing On the side where you lose.

137. "Today" - Brad Paisley Peak: 26 (so far) Total Points: 154 Certification: None
Brad Paisley has had a much-needed return to form with his latest single, "Today", which has so far done very well on my chart. This is another one to watch as we enter 2017! Brad was really starting to bore me with his last few albums, and none of his latest singles have been up to the consistent standard that he set early in his career. So I was THIRSTY for a Brad song like this one! This type of romantic ballad sounds very similar to the music he released during his prime, stylistically. Especially with his signature guitar work. Hopefully his new album is going to be more like this song, because this is definitely what people want to hear from him. This, and his uptempo funny songs that only he can pull off. Either way, I would love to see 2017 be a huge year for Brad Paisley, and I am definitely rooting for him to hit #1 with this song!
And the memory of a day like today Can get you through the rest of your life.

136. "Noise" - Kenny Chesney Peak: 32 Total Points: 155 Certification: NoneHistorically I have not been the biggest fan of Kenny Chesney... But fortunately for him I have grown much fonder of him in recent years. I was actually somewhat excited to hear the lead single from his upcoming project. So then when "Noise" came out, I was left feeling surprisingly underwhelmed. This song is kinda good and all, but it is certainly not anything special. The vocal effects on his voice are kinda weird, although I don't mind that as much as some people seem to. I just find the melody to be slightly annoying. Whenever it gets to the end and he just keeps singing "Can't take the noise," "Can't stand the noise," over and over, I imagine a crazy person rocking in a corner yelling at the voices in their head But I will say that the overall idea of this song is very solid. We don't really hear music speaking out against our instant-gratification technologically-dependent culture these days, but Kenny does it!
Every room, every house, every shade of noise. All the floors, all the walls, they all shake with noise. We can't sleep, we can't think, can't escape the noise. We can't take the noise, so we just make noise.

135. "Drinkin' Town With A Football Problem" - Billy Currington Peak: 22 Total Points: 155 Certification: None
This song should have been much more successful than it was on the country charts. It only peaked at #22 on my chart, but that is just because it kinda pre-dates my chart so I was already getting kinda tired of it by the time I started my chart. The anthemic chorus is so relatable and speaks to the nostalgic college football years that so many people hold in high regard. I am surprised this song was not a massive hit because you would think the college towns alone would make it super popular! The best part of this song is the hook though. The basic reversal of the expression "football town with a drinking problem" is both humorous and relatable. It is one of the more brilliant hooks I have heard in any genre of music in recent years. Catchy clever hooks always used to be one of my favorite aspects of country music, but they are unfortunately being neglected in this modern era.
We’re a drinking town with a football problem, With two main things we all have in common: We love ‘em both and don’t want to solve ‘em. We’re a drinking town with a football problem.

134. "Livin' The Dream" - Drake White Peak: 26 (so far) Total Points: 174 Certification: None
The song I almost forgot to chart this year! "Livin' The Dream" was an interesting song that didn't really fit in with the timing of my chart. I think it debuted around the same time I started my chart, but it kept getting shoved backwards on my priority list. Finally around February or March I was like, "this song is by Drake White. It is going to disappear without even causing a dent. I can get away without charting it and I will probably never hear it again." Cue October/November, when I realized that this song was still hanging in there, and on the verge of making the top 20... So I made a hasty effort to chart it, even though it felt really old. I pushed it up my chart as absolutely fast as I could for the rest of the year, vowing that I would have it fall by the end of the year so that it can go recurrent rather than carrying over into 2017... So on my chart this song is currently in its second drop week, and more than likely will not appear in the first edition of my 2017 chart. But overall I love this song! The low part of the verses is so catchy, and I didn't really expect that from Drake White, who I recognize so far for his soulful high range. I hope he can stick around and make it big, because his voice is so unique, and everything he's released seems to be good so far!
Lots of reasons just to give it on up. Leave your soul on the shelf, collectin' dust. Live in a world of broken promises and empty tanks, Oh but look at us.

I definitely want to be tagged. I also expect "Reckless" to be Top 5 if not #1, although I could see Kelsea Ballerini in the mix for the top with "Peter Pan".
Out of the songs so far, I love Little Big Town, Maddie & Tae (get ready for new music from these ladies soon), Mickey Guyton (shame "Heartbreak Song" never really grew on me), Cole Swindell (he is a guilty pleasure artist for me) and Brooke Eden (girl should hit it big, but I doubt it). The rest I am indifferent or outright despise.

I definitely approve of the songs you love :) So far all of them have only landed so low because they were either charting when my chart began so got part of their run cut off, or are currently charting and don't have the benefit of completing their entire chart runs yet. The ones that have completed their entire chart runs so far and managed to come in so low on the countdown are definitely not up to the quality of all those you mentioned (looking at you, Kenny Chesney, Jerrod Niemann, Chase Rice, Blake Shelton, and Dierks Bentley... Lol)
