May 31, 2020:

Circles ends its record setting Top 10 streak this week. It spent a total of 34 weeks inside the Top 10. That's 6 weeks longer than the songs it topped, Another Night and Iris which formally held the record at 28 weeks.

Circles owns all but one Top 10 record. It doesn't hold the most weeks at #1, but it does hold all the others. It has the most weeks in the Top 2 (18), Top 3 (18), Top 4 (22), Top 5 (23) and is currently spending its 38th week inside the Top 20. The record for most weeks inside the Top 20 is 46. That record was set by New Rules and Circles is definitely a threat to break that record, too.

And finally, Senorita returns to the Top 40 this week. The last time the song charted was 6 weeks ago, back on April 19.

Something very rare occurs this week as a recurrent single rebounds back inside the Top 10. Circles' rebound means its top 10 streak isn't over yet. It spent 34 record setting consecutive weeks inside the top 10 and with this week's rebound, it now has a record 35 non-consecutive top 10 weeks. It's also, by my tabulations, the biggest single in MediaBase non-recurrent history, however, it's not the biggest single in recurrent history, yet.

I distinctly remember approx 30 years ago when "Hold on" by Wilson Phillips and "Hold on " by En Vogue were out at the same time.  I'm sure during one of those weeks, they were back to back, as they were both very popular in July 1990.

I thought I had posted this earlier, but I guess not...I just saw that JoBros have two songs now that are both >1 yr on the top 40. I did some sleuthing, and the only other examples I could find of this were thanks to Eastside:

-Eastside hit 52 weeks on Love Lie's last week, giving Khalid this achievement
-Halsey had Without Me over 52 weeks for a while at the end of Eastside's run

So JoBros are the only artist to be lead on two simultaneous 52 weekers

A follower wants to know, in the rock era, if any song with the exact same title has ever charted back to back on any top 40 chart prior to this week's survey. We have details coming up.

On the June 23, 1990 chart, Hold On was back to back on the Rock On The Net weekly top 40 chart. #7 Wilson Phillips, #6 En Vogue.

On the Billboard Hot 100 Sales chart dated June 23, 1990, Hold On was back to back with En Vogue at #4, Wilson Phillips at #5.

Over on Radio and Records, the chart dated June 29, 1990 had Hold On back to back. This time Wilson Phillips was at #14, En Vogue #15.

Finally, on the June 30, 1990 Billboard Hot 100 chart, Hold On was back to back. This time Wilson Phillips was at #5, En Vogue #6.

On the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart dated July 7, 1990, Hold On was separated by one chart position with Wilson Phillips at #12 & En Vogue at #14. When I'm Back On My Feet Again was the spoiler song at #13.
