Song runs in the top 10 have been dilating severely the past few years. Party Rock Anthem was #1 for decade until mid-2017, and is now #17. It was replaced by Closer, which is now #10.

That's what I mean by this chart is so ridiculously broken. 32 out of the Top 40 songs since 2010 are from 2017 - 2020. Songs like Dynamite and PRA that were ina the top 3 at the beginning of 2017 are now in the low teens. That's just completely ridiculous.

When New Rules planted the flag at #1, I thought no song would challenge it for years because it ran for 93 weeks and had a huge lead over #2...then came 2020. Now two, maybe three songs might jump over it in the next few months.

Remember, this chart is strictly based on points that are earned for each chart position a song lands at during its Top 40 run. The points are based on the average percentage of weekly spins each rank possesses.

The longer a song runs, the more points they will accumulate and songs have been running long since 2016 and Top 10 long since last year.

So, this chart isn't broken. Maybe the regular weekly charts are. Lol.

You can search the forum for the weekly Top 100 posting as far back to when the forum began. Here's one from 2008.

Does anyone have a clue as to why the 2020 chart has been so stagnant? Circles, Blinding Lights, Don't Start Now, and Adore you. Unbelievable chart runs with radio stations still playing these songs strong for 6 months plus straight. Then there are songs like Falling and Before you go which take a half a year to reach it's number one peak.

I have been following airplay charts since the 1970s and I can't remember a year with so much chart craziness like this. Could it be because of the pandemic, perhaps less new music is out?

Would anyone be interested in a Top 100 Decade end chart that excluded all of the recency bias from songs 2017-2018-2019 era getting way more time on the chart than songs from the 2010-2012 era, 2013-2014 era and 2015-2016 era. I have bee working on a decade end chart that doesn't have all the recent songs. Would anyone be interested in that?

There are a few already out there that others have weighted the years to balance it out. But I'm always interested in other versions for comparison.

This is a decade end chart that I have been working on over the past couple weeks. It is self made, and contains no actual Mediabase data. It is just to give people an idea of what the top 500 would look like without all the recency bias.

I would think we have 2 more chart year weeks....11/8 and 11/15 correct?  The week of 11/16 should start 2021 chart year?
