Not really sure where to put this, but it's a question I wondered today. Where the hell is the soundtrack for the final film? Is there any news behind the scenes that it keeping this film's soundtrack from release? Is it suddenly dropping on Friday with the film with no lead single? What's going on?

Is there any news behind the scenes that it keeping this film's soundtrack from release? Is it suddenly dropping on Friday with the film with no lead single? What's going on? I realized last week that there had been nothing and tweeted at the movie Twitter lmao. It's very strange considering how great all three previous ones were. I'd say they're three of the top soundtracks this decade so far and were always a highlight of the film - even if the songs, save for one, weren't in the actual movie. But I did find a link saying it would be out in early December but the only song on it was something by Jennifer Lawrence, so that could have been for the score.

I was just wondering this the other day. Were the sales of the last soundtrack dramatically worse then the first two?

I forgot about this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's made on a lower budget seeing as the sales of the past 3 went something like ~500k -> less than 200k -> less than that?
It's just not financially viable if the expected return is very small. The last one probably lost money on its own given the names around/on it.

...Good question. Best Buy, Amazon, FYE, and Disc Exchange have pages saying it's coming December 4, but beyond the fact that Republic is once again distributing it, there's no other information, and I haven't seen anything else about it either. Odd.

It's likely just the score with a couple of songs from unknowns, if that. The other soundtracks all had some level of promotion and hype, not to mention A-list artists announced months in advance along with lead singles.
Clearly the massive underperformance of the Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack is to blame. Poor Lorde.

Soundtrack is digitally available now and it's indeed the James Newton Howard score (with "Deep In The Meadow" as part of a medley at the end); physical is out next week.
