I love this song! This is another one of my favourites right now. MP3 file of the song: www.haiducii.net/dragostea.m3u (this isn't the same version as the one z103 plays, the radio version is better, IMO) www.haiducii.net/She's hot! :o She just turned 27 and her real name is Paula Mitrache but Haiducii means "To take from the rich and help the poor, similar to Robin Hood" in Romanian. She's Italian but she was born in Romania. The song is sung in Romanian. Anyway, this is probably the biggest dance song on z103.5 right now, it was #3 last week on the Weekly Top 40 countdown and Haiducii is going to be performing live at the annual Summer Rush concert for z103 in a couple of weeks. Does anyone else love this song? I guess the fact that it's in another language, and the guy and girl trading verses, it's so cool! And the fact that you can't understand a word they are saying, and probably sound like a fool singing along, but it's still a great song

"Mai ah hee... Mai ah ha"... hehe I love it.
One of my favorites right now, and I'm surprised it took this long for someone to start a topic on it. The dancy hit version of this song is called the "DJ Ross Radio Edit". I don't really care for the original.
There's also another version of this song from an all-male group called O-Zone, that is far inferior to the Haiducii song. Haiducii released the song first, but unfortunately, here in America, the O-Zone version is the one that is being promoted. A few dance stations, including XM's BPM, are playing it and it's available on iTunes. Hopefully, the Haiducii version will get picked up in America too.
It's worth noting that a similar thing happened with the song "Heaven" a few years back. The first version to hit America was the inferior, copycat Eyra Gail version. It took a while for DJ Sammy's version to get here, but when it did, it completely eclipsed the Eyra Gail song. I'm hoping something like that happens again, with Haiducii eclipsing O-Zone.

Thanks for telling me what that DJ Ross Remix is...I like that version better than the original. Yea last night looking up the song, I saw the O-Zone version is also another version of the song, but I haven't heard it. Is it also in Romanian, or English, or what? The Haiducii one is the only version I've heard. Is it just Haiducii, or Haiducii vs. ____ ? I could have sworn there was someone else in there, perhaps the male artist? Or is just Haiducii credited? Is this too weird for Pop radio in the States? Maybe it could pull a "Heaven"? Or nah...I dunno Oooh Haiducii just came on the radio It's #9 this week on the Top 40 :)

Yea last night looking up the song, I saw the O-Zone version is also another version of the song, but I haven't heard it. Is it also in Romanian, or English, or what? Romanian. Same exact lyrics. I just like the voice and instrumentation of Haiducii's version better. It's "Haiducii vs. Gabry Ponte". Ponte is the Italian producer who originally remixed the song and was responsible for making the song a hit in Italy. He's best known for being one half of the group Eiffel 65. I'm not sure who the male singing in Haiducii's song is. I don't think this is going to be anywhere near as big as "Heaven", just because the lyrics aren't in English. I would be shocked if any American pop stations add it. I could see dance stations picking it up though. KTU, especially, doesn't seem afraid of foreign languages. It certainly helps that it's a huge hit in Italy as well.

I prefer the original by O-Zone.

I think this will be a sleeper that catches on. I do like Haiducii's version better - it's #16 on my chart - than O-Zone's. I thought the O-Zone version was the original. It is definitely inferior. CHUM-FM in Toronto has opted for O-Zone.

Hmm... I guess you guys are right. I'd read somewhere that Haiducii was the original, but this fairly comprehensive article (http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle/2004/05/814ce60f-0383-4815-b572-b7c896cddc38.html) reveals that whatever I originally read was wrong. Oh well, I still like the Haiducii version better.

I was living in Italy when this caught on there so I have a lot to say about this song. LOL First of all, it is SO annoying. No one I knew liked it at first listen, but it is so friggin catchy that it gets stuck in your head until you end up liking it. Actually, this song reminds me of a field tip I took with my Archaeology class to the Forum in Rome, and I could barely pay attention to my professor because I heard this song that morning an I couldn't get it out of my head. Anyway, maybe the clubs will play a remix of it or something, but there's no way in hell American radio is going to play a song entirely in Romanian.

ooh I didn't know CHUM FM was playing a version of it.
It IS very catchy...you hear that loop and you can't get it out of your head until another song creeps in there or your mind wanders somewhere else.
Yea, I guess American radio will never touch it...lol...
"Amare a heee, amare a haaa, amare a hee, amarae a haa haa"
"Umma umma eh, umma umma eh, umma umma umma ey" lol

First of all I love this song, and I'm so mad that I can't find the radio version, but the version I have is good for now. Speaking of Z103 summer rush, does anyone know the tracks on the CD yet?

First of all I love this song, and I'm so mad that I can't find the radio version It's definitely out there. Search for "Dragostea" and "DJ Ross". The radio version will probably be labelled as such, and it's around 4:15 in length.

Is the "DJ Ross" version the one that Z103.5 plays?? Yes, the radio edit of the DJ Ross version. It's usually labeled "DJ Ross 4 the radio" or something like that.

I have the Summer rush CD now. Got it on the first day it came out actually. I really like the list of tracks that's on the CD. Some of the best songs played at the moment, the other version (O-Zone) of Dragostea Din Tei that I hadn't heard before, and some great older songs.

Oh yea I've definitely heard "Running Up That Hill" played on z103. I don't remember when it was popular, but I hear them play it once in a while for sure. It's definitely the male version too.
So did anyone go to Summer Rush? The weather was flawless until about 1 and then started clouding over (at least here in the west end of the city) and was cloudy for the rest of the day. Don't know how the weather was downtown at the Docks. Im sure it was packed though.

Well Dragostea din tei is a great song in every version...the Haiduccii and the o-zone version....but haiduccii is still inferior to o-zone according to every european country *except italy* haiduccii is right now about #7 or 8 in the european charts but o-zone is number one in almost every european country...i just got back from germany on the 4th of August and they're crazy about the o-zone version there its been number one since the first week of june...but i also like the haiduccii version....but anyways if your gettin addicted to romanian dance music like me download o-zone "despre tine" its even better then dragostea din tei ;) by the way for those of you wondering what dragostea din tei means it means "love under the Linden trees"

I still haven't heard the O-Zone version, I don't think.
The version with Haiducii has a man on it, maybe they mashed the two together on my radio station?

No the Haiducii song is definitely a duet, and the male voice on Haiducii doesn't have the same sound or inflection as the O-Zone guys. I don't know who does the male voice for Haiducii, but it's not a mash-up.

Click the "profile" icon at the top of the screen 2. Go to where it says "I have my own picture", click that box, and put the website link or link from your computer there. Hopefully that helps. Also, I have the Summer Rush CD, and I love it. lol

Hey, I didn't get to go to the summer rush..anyway, I had a question for u people that went...what does Aluna look like? Like, what was she wearin, and stuff...I want to find the pic that she's in on the Summer Rush website, but they haven't named the pics like they did last year, so I don't know which one has Aluna in it. Can someone tell me what she was wearing, or what she looks like?
