Originally released in 2008, this has been serviced to CHR radio/is under Cool New Music after appearing in the top five on Shazam and top 50 on iTunes from a Honda Civic ad. It's sold 800k to date.

LMAO! The word late doesn't even begin to describe this. Classic though.

I don't know what to say honestly.
I really enjoy Empire of the Sun's stuff, so I'm glad that their label is pushing this because of the Honda ad and I hope "Walking on a Dream" does something, although I'm not expecting too much. That said, the track is amazing and I want to be proven wrong.

love this song and them, and would love it if this somehow did something, but this is probably a bit too old tbh

This song is outstanding, but this seems a wee bit old now.

I wonder if they'll shoot a new video Doubt it. Where did Alive peak? Was it ever pushed? As far as I know, this is their first song delivered to the CHR/Pop format and I'm not sure if "Alive" was sent to the other formats as well, despite it peaked at #26 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs.
As a side note, I think they're recording their third album since last year, so this could give a boost to their new era (lead single and album) if the song takes off on radio.

I had a feeling this would happen. I love this song too and loved it during its original release. It would be awesome if they somehow finally had their breakthrough. I love so many of their other songs too.

Fantastic song, enjoyed this one for years. I Cannot believe it is going for adds (again?) will there be a new mix at all? or a new video?

Fantastic song, enjoyed this one for years. I Cannot believe it is going for adds (again?) will there be a new mix at all? or a new video? No evidence yet that it's actually going for adds. Sometimes songs pop up on Cool New (heh) Music as more of a "Hey guys, recognize this song? You can play it if you want..." than an actual traditional single push.

Re-releases years later were not all that uncommon in the 80s and 90s, and I don't mean like 2 years later but 5, 10, or even 20 years later.

Wiz Khalifa did a sick version of this called "The Thrill". That version should have been a huge hit back in the day.

Damn, I'm okay with this getting another shot at cracking the US market, I absolutely loved this song when it came out. We Are The People was better, but this is the song that launched them in Australia and the UK. Go Empire Of The Sun!

I know we've seen a few 2-3 year songs, but I can't think of any song past like 95 even that was re-added 8 years later which would be 2003...

I always loved this version of the song mashed up with Ludacris and Lil' Wayne. It came out really awesome. From this dude who used to be one of the first viral YouTubers back in 2010. I wonder what ever happened to him.. he has like 360,000 subscribers which is pretty good for someone who has not been active in 3 years and before the real explosion of Youtube stars.

Might as well send the MGMT singles that were big in 2008.

When I think of the biggest, best known songs that were never even minor US hits, this is one of the first to come to mind. Might as well send the MGMT singles that were big in 2008. ...and "Kids" and "Electric Feel" are the others.

The fact that it wouldn't be surprising at this point to see this become a legit hit now is amazing. This song is great (and I thought "Drink You Away" was a weird choice for Pop.)

Tbh if those first MGMT singles had been released five years later, I feel like they would've been big hits. I started getting that feeling when "Safe and Sound" blew up in 2013, because I always thought it sounded like something from Oracular Spectacular. but yeah this song being serviced to radio is kind of crazy. Currently #14 on iTunes, presumably due to more exposure from the Honda commercial, but I wonder if it'll actually blow up enough to get on the Hot 100.
