nnnnnn at using her slot to promote “Poke It Out”. At least do “Ball For Me” sis. And then she didn’t even rap a section of her own verse, making it even more about Carti.
I liked the “Chun Li” performance though. The little dance breaks added some spark.
I’m reading her sketch wasn’t even aired on the actual show though?

I wish she didn't lip the best parts of Chun-Li
Aside from that the performance was nice
The outfit and setup was killer, her overall performance was fiiiine, but could've been better if you know what I'm saying

As expected with Pulse I was prepared to watch a trainwreck performance of CL. UMMM that performance was HOT! The dancers and the energy was something I'd never see in a Nicki performance. Can't wait for the tour dates!

Did anyone peep her check Playboi Carti during the song? I noticed that — he came up behind her and she was like “nope!” Then she told him to stand still while she grinded on him — even he seemed confused, lol. I thought her performances were typical Nicki. What’s best about t her live is her confidence, which she certainly had. That 2nd song was god-awful though. Like, one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard - awful. |

Can't wait for the tour dates! THIS. I missed SNL and was kinda nervous reading through this thread before seeing it. I thought the Chun Li performance was great. She looks confident, hit the choreography, and was really feeling the performance. Sure, she could have rapped a few more parts but overall I think she did a good job of choosing when to rap and when to use the backing/dance instead. I don't see the big deal with her lipping the spoken parts, I don't even think she should have included them in the performance tbh. When she said "who wants a mai-tai?", I died. PIO, however, was unbearable...and I couldn't finish. Definitely a waste of a promo spot for literally anything else, hell I would have preferred her to do an old song. Irregardless, it's not her song so I'm not worried. This is one of my issues with Nicki--and an issue that MANY have with her--when she was on her come up, she acted like she wanted it. She rapped like it was her last shot. She performed with ENERGY. She got to her QUEEN position without having any real competition or female rap alternatives to challenge her spot. So during that time, she didn't have to GIVE as much. A trash feature was fine, because it was NICKI. A bad performance was fine, because it's NICKI. But a shift has recently happened where an active focus on other female rappers is taking place. Where Nicki went wrong is coming back from that break she took, and still phoning it in like she has been for YEARS when she should have been coming for NECKS to remind people why she is the queen. This subpar s**t isn't gonna cut it anymore when you have a pregnant Cardi B doing yoga on stage while rapping EVERY line without taking a breath. You don't become queen, and then relax; you keep showing us WHY you are the queen. I see what you are saying but using this performance as an example doesn't get your point across, IMO. She had energy, she had confidence, she had everything that she normally gives. The crowd was loving Chun-Li and she had precise moments choreographed well to make it more of a "performance" element than just her standing there and rapping the track. HOWEVER, yes...some of her recent performances, mainly when she is brought out as a guest, have definitely been like...wtf was that. She still has it though and I am not worried that she will continue to deliver. She still has a lot of attention around her and her SNL performance of CL seems to have generated positive reviews. |

Man, those SNL performances were ROUGH. Lazy, uninspired...and I did not need Playboi Carti, when I could have had maybe Barbie Tingz or an unreleased track. Hell, she could have done Starshits and I would have been happier with that than that Playboi Carti shit.

Slept onnnnn EDIT: Just re-watched Chun Li SNL, she should keep that act for future performances. It's hot forreal. The PIO was simple, I really wasn't expecting a whole "omg that's dope" type of thing, especially since Carti never really performed on TV, so of course all eyes were naturally gonna be on Nic. |
