Ouch. What's the record for lowest #1 in pure sales?
#1 at 50k in SPS is really pathetic.
I guess it should have been expected since it's just a treat for fans but that drop for Kendrick is massive.

Wow, these pure album sales are just awful.

Lowest is 40-41K? Gary will know.

The record for lowest sales at #1 belongs to Disney's Descendants Soundtrack. Last August it debuted at #1 with pure sales of only 30k.... and 42k total with track and streaming equivalents included.

This is only the middle of the week. Pretty sure that shameful record isn't being broken this week.

Imagine if Rihanna or Justin gets it with just 14k in sales and the rest in streams. Some poster guys will flip their lids!

It would be fantastic is Rih can return to #1, but I'm betting on #2 just to not be let down.

I swear usually when an album gets more than a couple weeks at #1 I really dislike it, it just annoys me for some reason. But not Adele. I for one am hoping she gets that 11th week (and somehow and sometime a 12th for reasons some people may be able to figure out).

Hoping for Rihanna to make it back on top for a week. The sales aren't bad either. This is 2016, and it's how it is now. They will keep dropping more and more. Many retailers do not even carry CDs anymore. Where are people supposed to buy them anyways for the few people that want them? Best Buy and target stores have reduced well over 50% of cd space in 2015

Starbucks stopped selling cds.

Best Buy also reduced a lot.

I recently went to go buy Tweet's album and was shocked at the minimal amount of space dedicated to CD's. It was literally only a row in addition to the new release stand. The prices were outrageous at a median price of $14-15 for old ass CD's. I have no problem paying $10/mo for Spotify for all my music needs.

^ And that's exactly it. If there was a demand there would be more supply. People are simply not investing in owning music anymore. There are a few exceptions who can still sell albums in the multi-millions - albeit these are the same artists whose albums aren't on Spotify.
As much as some of us are bummed about low sales and also against the inclusion of streaming into the album charts - it's gotta happen. People are streaming music - so that's what needs to be reflected in the charts. As for track equivalent sales... that's still sketchy to me, but it is what it is.

That typo in the title is killing me. I want Rih to return to number-one, because I want Anti to be the first Rihanna album to spend more than one week atop Billboard 200.

Not trying to argue - just curious why you'd differentiate between track sales and track streams in terms of worthiness for an album chart.

The fact that some of us have a cd player doesn't mean that everyone has.

The fact that some of us have a cd player doesn't mean that everyone has. Just because someone has a Spotify account doesn't mean everyone has a Spotify account. Just because someone buys digital albums doesn't mean everyone buys digital albums. More physical albums (cds, vinyl, cassettes, cd/dvd) are sold each week than digital albums.

Hoping adele gets another week at #1. I think they should put the album up for streaming with the release of the 3rd single. Could give a huge boost.

This would've been a perfect week for Gwen to release her album... Judging by next week's releases, she should still have the Hot Shot Debut (unless The Voice finally has a winner that actually sells records).

Woo! I think the final number will be closer to 150-200k, but that's pretty great for Zayn.

What's the lowest a #1 SPS album has ranked on pure album sales?

What's the lowest a #1 SPS album has ranked on pure album sales? I'm thinking the Descendants soundtrack takes that honour (30,000 pure sales, placing it at #1 on Top Album Sales that week). 42,000 SPS. Edit: Oh, actual chart rankings? Nvm, I have no idea.
