If Rihanna gets 10 weeks with Work, she'll be the 5th artist to have 2 songs with 10 weeks plus at number one. The other 4 are Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas, Santana and Boyz 2 Men.

So here is the thing:
7 Years has actually started decreasing in streaming while Work has remained stable and has actually been still seeing gains. 7 Years sales are ahead of Work but it hasn't really been able to build up a large lead since Work has been fairly stable there as well. As with airplay, Work has over double than that of 7 Years and Pop isn't really jumping on 7 Years like it should be IMO. It's pretty hard to tell how much further Work will go on Pop as it's been having fairly meh updates lately, but improving in callouts. Not to mention, but KIIS and Z100 had already played the song four times today before noon Eastern.
With NO, it's doing fabolous in both airplay and sales. But as the video effect seems to be wearing off, 7 Years seems to be creeping up again not taking into account its normal weekend gains. NO's streaming is terrible and I have no idea why. Its Spotify numbers have been stagnant or moving at a snail's pace, and the video's views are also underwhelming. She would need to promote the song to more demographics aside from her typical HAC fanfare to pick that streaming up. Sure it may increase as the song gets bigger. But by that time it may be too late.
The result:
What I see happening is one component of carrying either NO or 7 Years to the #1 spot from prohibit both from reaching #1. 7 Years will have strong sales and ok airplay, but will not be able to close the steaming and airplay gap that Work has over it. NO has the great sales and airplay, but the streaming will keep it from the top spot.
Work's streaming is just absolutely massive. Its the fastest song to reach 200 million Spotify streams only behind Hello, and by the looks, may have more longevity in that department than Hello.
I see Work having 10 weeks at #1 minimum. More will just depend on whether Meghan or Lukas' teams do something to boost in the department that either one is respectively lacking in.
However, if either one has the chance to topple Work, it will likely be NO.

I'm just hoping and praying for something to dethrone Work ASAP because I'm already fucking tired of it...and it barely even feels like a #1 anymore and will feel even less like one a couple weeks from now.

I barely even remember the song exists until it shows up on iHeartRadio, if I see it on my list of songs on iTunes, or if we are talking about the top 10 (oh, and if I am working on my chart and I get to the part where I gotta see where Work places). So that isn't even alot. There is no way this song deserved this much success. Every week that Work is #1 piles on happiness for me. May its reign continue and 7 Years never hit the top.  I'd still put No as the one to eventually take over if it can hold out enough. |

The great lyrics for the people that love songs for their lyrics (or mainly their lyrics). The great flow and EDM beat for people who only care about beats and drops. The vocals are great too (IMO). And we still manage to have Work at #1. I only like Work for mainly the beat, and some vocals in the song. Otherwise, nah. |

Yeah! Who wants 7 Years' Work when there could be NO Work at all? People are so lazy nowadays lol. You know (I'm about to use every top 10 song's title in a beautiful post), Meghan is a Dangerous Woman. She doesn't become dangerous by eating Cake By The Ocean. Well, I don't know how true that is. So, Sorry if I'm wrong. I hate when I'm wrong, but I'm never wrong, well yes I am. Me, Myself & I keep arguing. We need to stop arguing. Yo, I would love to do some PILLOWTALKing with Meghan Trainor. i'm disappointed meghan's video was out so early. it was clear that they needed to wait, at the very least, another week or two. doesn't help that it was released on a monday. i still think it can eventually reach the top for at least one week though.
in the meantime, i'll keep bopping to "work" while it blocks "7 years" :)

Well at least 7 Years blocked Work from #1 in the UK :)
Though I would much rather they had just shared the top spot in both instead of the same song being #1 forever. It gets boring to watch the charts when that happens (unless it's a fave song of yours which is not the case for me with either Work or 7 Years, although if anything I like 7 Years more).
