Wow, it jumped from #66 on the Hot 100 last week back to #49 this week, and it's bulleted too! The Pop adds keep gradually increasing, and the iTunes data seems to be staying strong. I hope this isn't just a brief spike of some sort. If more Pop stations can add this song, then by God it could become a Top 40 hit for the summer! Time for a sustained upward trend!

It's very encouraging to see spins increasing on Pop, Hot AC and Alternative all at the same time, especially now that the decrease in Active Rock spins has slowed down. The number of spins across all formats seemed to linger just above 2,000 from mid-March through mid-May, but now it's above 2,500 as we enter June. If iTunes numbers stay strong, then this song might actually enter the Top 40 by the end of June. Here's hoping no famous musicians die this month.

Wow, those are big increases on Pop and Alternative! At this rate, "The Sound Of Silence" could soon have more than 1,000 spins on both formats by the end of the month. No, the tracking period ended on Sunday. The sales and streams just decreased more than the airplay increased.

In that case, Top 40 radio programmers are to blame for resisting. If they had open minds and started adding the song in March instead of May, then it would have been a huge hit.

Yeah, the song has officially run its course. Still managed to reach the Top 20 on the Mediabase Alternative chart, and the Top 50 on the Mediabase CHR chart, though, which was entirely unexpected. Prince's death ruined its Top 40 aspirations on the Hot 100, though. :(
