Disturbed - "The Sound Of Silence"

I don't think time of year matters that much for most songs, but I do think it's hurting the success of this one. This just doesn't work as a summer song. When I first heard it in January, I loved it immediately and listened to it all the time, but now I just never find myself in the mood to listen to it. If pop success was desired (and the band is probably ambivalent at best to pop success anyway), then this probably should've gone to Active Rock last fall, because there was obviously going to be a lag between success on their core format and any crossover success.

I am surprised that it's not doing more on Hot AC though. I would've thought top 30 or so would've been doable there regardless of the time of year.

I doubt it. When it was the last time that a cover won Song of the years (specially a cover of an already classic song).

The timing is everything to have a hit, and the timing failed in this case, it took too long to start to get spins on the pop chart, and the sales are constant but probably it needed to be a top seller to make pop on board of making this a hit

Hypothetically, Record of the Year I think? but not Song of the Year, or Rock Song, or any like that.

To be honest, this looks like a way bigger hit than its peak (on pop and the hot 100) show
