How many points does the average song at #100 have each week?
How many streams would it take to be #100 on the Hot 100 if you had no sales or radio play?
How many sales would it take to be #100 on the Hot 100 if you had no streams or radio play?
How much radio play would it take to be #100 on the Hot 100 if you had no streams or sales?

#100 usually has a good 2-4k points-actually better than you'd think!

So how many sales make 3000 points and how many streams make 3000 points?

We can only guestimate, and different members on this board have devised different guestimates, so I'm assuming the numbers rimetm has provided are either what he came up with or someone else's. The streaming number seems a little high, I would guess no more than 4 mil.

I mean, we do know how sales and streaming factor into the chart because of the reformulation after the RIAA study, which equated 150 streams to 1 track sale. Points are obviously relative, but the idea of, if 1 point = 10 sales = 1500 streams, 2000-3000 points being the rough threshold has been given credence now that we have case studies, namely sales-fueled songs like True Colors (52,000 sales at No. 74) and stream-fueled songs like Famous getting near the edge of the chart with 2.65 mil Spotify streams (and I think Tidal contributes between .25 and .5 mil)

Maybe I'm not getting what you're saying, but the 1 point in the 1 point = 10 tracks sales = 1500 streams equation refers to an album equivalent unit, which is for the album chart, not the Hot 100 chart. We still do not know the multipliers they use for the three different metrics to determine overall Hot 100 chart points.

It's kind of a reverse obtaining of how a hypothetical point structure would balance. As I've mentioned, in the current formula, we have Kanye West near the bottom of the chart with Father Stretch My Hands and Famous, both between 2.6 and 3 million streams. Famous has some AirPlay points, but Hands doesn't, and neither is up for sale. Now, while we don't know Hot 100's base points, we're 99% certain on a ratio due to the following:
-RIAA formally publishes results of study saying the new rate of sales:streams is 1:150 and adds them to certifications. -Several days later, Billboard it has changed its formula to the Hot 100 to better reflect trends -The week of implementation, songs fueled by sales, namely "Work" and "My House", charge the top 10, and songs fueled by streaming inertia, namely "What Do You Mean" and "Hotline Bling" (Benefitting from a ratio approximately around 1:90 or 1:100), crash hard out of the top 10.
So, since it takes around 2.5 to 3.0 million streams, it should take around 17,000 to 20,000 sales to hit the mark. (Yes, the number changed a bit, though as always it depends on the week how hard it varies; these past few weeks may be skewing it due to the high ranking Drake and Beyoncé songs pushing everything down)
The site accepted standard of points to sales of 1:10 is more a readability thing and to make the significant figures vague enough so that no one gets sued, or something like that.
