Beyonce is doing exactly what I hoped/thought she would do to help promote a single -- releasing an element of the Lemonade film as a standalone music video, thus getting new press/attention (despite not *really* being new material). I'll be curious if this has a big impact on the song's chart success. Do we know if there's any possibility of Sorry becoming available on more streaming services?

Cheap Thrills's performance on the Hot 100 is rather akin to how Watch Me performed last year. Both debuted near the beginning of the year and stuck around on the chart for a long time without entering the Top 10 until they finally did in the summer. Difference is though, Cheap Thrills is fucking fantastic Watch Me is fucking torture.

What happened to Cheap Thrills? It seemed to be going nowhere for months, and suddenly it's getting big updates and top 10. What did I miss? The song seems to be genuinely well liked. But she also put in work. It's not a cute coincidence that she personalized the song for all these radio stations. That's a lot of work for a song that may or may not get played, if you know what I mean. *wink wink* What do you mean? Are you inferring they payed for the song to get played? As someone mentioned Watch Me, I know it's not uncommon for songs to have slow climbs, but that's usually for artists that are still breaking through, such as Cake by the Ocean or Ex's and Oh's, not for acts with a big profile that perform on high-rated tv shows.

^ You are free to draw your own conclusions. However, I didn't mean to imply pay for play. Rather, there is something to be said for a song that is personalized for countless stations. It wouldn't make sense to do it if the song wasn't going to get played. The fact that it wasn't going anywhere for awhile and suddenly was everywhere storming up the chart - with her singing station names - is no coincidence.

Sia isn't really a big name, though. She's definitely not a new name, but she is far from a radio staple. She has yet to have a song make a fast climb unless we want to count "Wild Ones."

Ride gained 3M AI, could it actually get the #10 spot on the Hot 100 this week? Right now it does look likely that Ride should get #10 (though it isn't guaranteed yet). Ride - 60-70-9.5 = 21,600 ITAPII - 35-85-10.5 = 21,100 JLF - 55-90-5.5 = 19,700 Just Like Fire is pretty much out of the race now.

I believe it was just another case of USA being stubbornly late to the party (like Lean On last year). Cheap Thrills was already Top-5 globally two months ago.

While I do agree Sia is not a radio staple, I still think she was big enough for people to know she had a new song out. She performed on top shows and had an episode of American Idol dedicated to her. I don't think people were just exposed to the song for the first time this past month as much as I think people had already heard it before and ignored it (including radio). That's why I wonder what changed.

I don't think people were just exposed to the song for the first time this past month as much as I think people had already heard it before and ignored it (including radio). That's why I wonder what changed. An American Idol performance hasn't been a big deal in years outside of Kelly's viral performance. And plenty of people are only just now being exposed to the song. If they hadn't seen any of the performances (which is pretty darn likely given that her highest profile performance of this song reached less than 3% of the population), where were they going to hear it? It's not like it had high airplay. So, yeah, I really just think the song took a while to finally hit a spot where it could finally grow into a hit. There have been far stranger runs by far more popular artists before, such as how it took Kill Me with Kindness getting into the top 25 on pop before it finally got any higher than 500 on iTunes, or how Dangerous Woman had a massive resurgence after the album release in sales and airplay (though oddly not so much in streaming).

With how well H.O.L.Y. has been doing on iTunes and it still having plenty of room to grow on radio, it would be nice to see it get closer (or in) to the top 10! I still haven't listened in full but from what I have heard it sounds like a decent song and they're probably the 'poppiest' country group right now, at least going by my extremely limited knowledge of country music.

My House being the year's top seller seems so random. One Dance being a huge no.1 hit seems even more random to me. Seriously this song is like tap water, even worse than 7 Years Indeed. 5 years from now, nobody outside of Drake fans will remember how One Dance goes. Infact, I can barely remember it right now and I have been exposed to it dozens of times. Bland in the extreme. I'm all for Drake finally having a #1 solo hit, but it should have been with Hotline Bling last year and not with thise snoozefest of a song. Particularly not when JT has a bona fide summer smash out that is guaranteed to get tons of recurring airplay over the next many years.

Not sure why people are talking so much about Gaga. I love her and think she is arguably the most exciting thing to happen in pop music in the 21st century, but I feel that she is pretty much done commercially. Her first single will probably make some noise, but I would be surprised to see her get a large scale comeback. Infact, I don't think she will ever have a top 5 hit again.

I really want Ride to get that top ten, but at the same time I really want ITAPII to get one more week in the top ten :/

I love her too, but I was surprised to see people just assuming that her next lead single will go #1. I still think it could possibly be a top 5 hit though.

While this may or may not end up being true... I subscribe to the anything-is-possible theory... and with the right song, Gaga could smash. It may or may not happen right out of the gate anymore or be as huge as some of her previous hits were relative to other songs of the time... but I don't think it's ever wise to count someone out as a contender for a #1 hit. All other comparisons aside, think Madonna's "Music".

Any idea of where Heathens will debut this week? honestly, it has pretty good sales and streaming this week so I think it can debut in the top 20 (probably around #17)

Spotify should be on point too. Nice, big and splashy debut, just how I like 'em.

5 years from now, nobody outside of Drake fans will remember how One Dance goes. Like 50% of young people are Drake fans, so quite a lot of people will remember it in the future haha.

I think we might wanna keep our posts that are specific to our own personal feelings on a song or artist in the artist or song threads. It gets a little old to keep seeing the same rhetoric about songs that people don't like in this Hot 100 chart thread.

So happy Troye Sivan new single is doing good at the moment . Hopefully radio will pick it up. He deserves to break here. Youth did OK.
