Great job George!
I find it interesting how Can't Stop The Feeling was bigger than both "Cheap Thrills", and "This Is What You Came For" based on the year end chart, and is above both on the current 2017 Hot 100 chart, but it's quite behind both songs on the decade chart because of the points system.
Also, the fact that Heathens (Year End #21) is neck and neck with Stressed Out (Year End #5), when Stressed Out had 52 weeks on the Hot 100, and Heathens only has 26 and counting.

JANUARY UPDATE (01/28/2017)No new point formula alterations this time. Also, for the "OTHERS" section I'll be including any currently charting songs not in the top 100 that have peaked in the top 5 + "top 10 stability" exceptions such as Needed Me. Notes for the month: - "Closer" will enter All-Time chart territory either next week (if #4, as fhas mentioned on the weekly hot 100 thread) but only barely (by 31 points lol). Accounting for point errors, it'll definitely be on that chart in 2 weeks time.
- "Heathens" (at 89 now) still stands a chance imo to reach the decade-end cutoff which is still estimated at WDYM. "Can't Stop The Feeling" has none though.
- Other than the new chart toppers (Shape Of You/Bad and Boujee), I believe only "Starboy" and "Black Beatles" can challenge for a decade top 100 spot both depending mostly on their remaining time in the top 10, as well as their hot 100 longevity thereafter.

No songs from 2015 or 2016 in the top 20. Closer finally got it. February 25th update: #8 March 25th update: #5 April 29th update: #3 YES! This is happening. Without the multipliers it would already be #3.

I really want Closer to be in the top 10 all-time list

So Closer has shot up 70-36-18 in georgetherunner314 's last monthly updates. If it can remain in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 in the February charts, it'd start challenging the total Top 10 weeks achieved by Party Rock Anthem and Uptown Funk! Needless to say, but if it manages to reach 52 weeks charted, I don't see any reason why couldn't end up #1 for the decade, although another even more successful song could come along before the decade is over. The latter is not impossible, but improbable at this point.

Probably true. Both songs have been very overwhelmingly dominant compared to the competition at the times of their peaks for quite a fair amount of time. So the two stats that Closer definitely won't be able to challenge Uptown Funk! in are weeks @#1 and very likely total weeks on chart. All the other ones will be defined in the next weeks and months.

FEBRUARY UPDATE (02/25/2017)
So I now have the entire list of songs for this decade, much due to Daniel Collins' assistance. As you can see, I'm now able to number those songs outside the current top 100, and I kinda had to include Million Reasons since I've previously stated I'd include any currently charting songs that have peaked in the top 5. I may do an update YouTube countdown video halfway through the year of the top 200 songs or so, so I won't reveal those for now lol. Hopefully, I can get the year-end updates posted soon but I'm still having a lot of trouble dealing with some inconsistencies due to the recent Hot 100 formula change and the Pandora addition. And, as you can see, I added an "All-T" column to show my calculated All-Time position for the songs that apply. Also, I meant to bold "Bad Romance."

So Closer is at approximately #53 on the all time chart, with only 28 weeks, ahead of songs that had 40+ weeks It should easily get top 20 by the end of its run

Black Beatles won't be able to pass What Do You Mean despite 7 weeks at number one. That's sad.
Can't Stop The Feeling is surprising me, maybe it'll get 52 weeks and a chance to be on the decade-end charts.
Starboy will finish in the 50-60 range. Could've been better.
Exactly five years ago, Stronger was #1 for the first time. This week it falls 58-59 courtesy of a 2009 song.
Closer is already a legendary song. Next week, it'll enter Top 50 all-time. I hope it can fight for #1 of the decade.
Assuming that all the songs on the decade-end charts were/will be released between August/2009 and August/2019, we're at 75% of the decade, maybe the cutoff will be lower than the 2000s.

So to start, a eulogy to our dropout... You may not have been overly strong, and you were no Lean On, but you were pretty cool. You started off on a strong note, but sadly it didn't last long, and you were one of the unluckiest #2s we've had in a long time. Unfortunately, that massive dickhole that was Closer was too much for you, and Cheap Thrills despite not being overly strong managed to barely come out on top to begin. Goodbye Cold Water, you will be missed.
Now that we got that out of the way, let's see what else there is to talk about!
I don't think the Decade-End is released in August 2019, because otherwise I Gotta Feeling probably would not have been as high as it was on the 2000's chart.
Speaking of Closer, I'm still amazed. Remember how I made that thread thinking what we thought would happen with it, and some predicted it was gonna be like All About That Bass or Blurred Lines? Well, that was not what's looking to happen! Looks like it is indeed Uptown Funk all over again.
Anyway, Black Beatles. It looks like it's falling fast, but after some of us thought that it'd be the #1 song of this year (which at this rate it probably won't), it would just be sad if it failed to make it here at this point. xP But I doubt many would be complaining.
I would've been shocked if Cheap Thrills had passed Blank Space. Despite the former having more staying power, the latter had more time at the top. But Don't Let Me Down did get the last laugh over it, which I'm not wild about because I do like Blank Space more, definitely.
As for Heathens, it's close, but it should manage to scrape. If Shut Up And Dance can't make it, hey, at least this is the next best thing, right?
I also see that george miscalculated big time with Sugar, because it's now just below Timber, which will easily make it. Very interesting.

I thought Cheap Thrills might end up bit closer to Don't Let Me Down, but it only made up about 3.8k points in 4 weeks since the last update. This just comes to show that at the positions under the Top 10, even if the gaps in positions appear relatively significant, under the point system applicable to the decade-end Hot 100, the difference in points are not quite as large as one would think the further down the positions you go. Another noticeable thing to me in the update, is that Heathens is probably a couple of weeks ago from surpassing Hotline Bling. georgetherunner314 thanks for the update! I understand the trouble Pandora might be giving you. I tried to determine how it affected the weekly Streaming Songs the first week the change became effective and found I couldn't get a definitive answer due to some songs that were supposed have benefited significantly from the addition of Pandora didn't even appear in the Top 100 spins chart in Next Big Sound thanks to the "sunsetting" rule they have.

Assuming that all the songs on the decade-end charts were/will be released between August/2009 and August/2019, we're at 75% of the decade, maybe the cutoff will be lower than the 2000s. Nah, the 2010 decade-end chart starts in December 2009 and ends November 2019. I know because I calculated points for the 2000 edition, as you've probably seen in my first post, and it only works if you go from Dec. 1999- Nov. 2009. 75% will be done once we hit June, which is when I plan to make an updated, longer countdown video. I also see that george miscalculated big time with Sugar, because it's now just below Timber, which will easily make it. Very interesting. Yep, there were quite a few errors in my preexisting "project." "Sugar" was completely missing 6 weeks it had around 20-25, and "Timber" used the wrong multiplier for a lot of its charting period, which had it at a higher point value than it truly achieved. There was also small inconsistencies for "Sorry" and "Uptown Funk!," and maybe a couple of others, but I checked back on those and their chart runs all seem to be fine now.

I don't about the exact numbers but from Pandora Top Spins Chart, "Learn more about the science": 'Pandora Top Spins The Pandora Top Spins Chart shows the 100 tracks that have been spun the most times over the course of the past week, and reflects which songs are currently the most popular on the chart. Tracks that appear on the Pandora Top Spins chart typically have a spin count in the range of 1.5 to 10 million spins per week.'

I know the chart starts December 2009 and ends November 2019, but what I tried to say is that probably no songs released pre-August 2009 or post-August 2019 will make the list. So only songs released in the next 2.5 years will be able to make the decade-end chart, althought we're 2.75 years away from the end.

Thanks George for the update! I know everything's not going so well for you so it's phenomenal that you're keeping us updated on such a big project! :)
Now for the chart:
Wow... Closer is already top 10... Beating out We Found Love is almost certain, but UF/PRA is gonna be a stretch especially with the 25/52 rule (giving UF a 4 week advantage. It may be small, but on a chart where position matters, it could be significant) and PRA has a 10+ week advantage. That being said, I actually hope UF wins out of the two for #2. I love both songs, but UF is the more historical song tbh. Closer will be remembered as a smash hit, UF will be remembered as a legendary smash hit. So in the end, I really hope UF comes out on top. But I won't get mad at all if Closer does, especially if it can beat out PRA for #1, sacrificing UF from top 2 is worth it. But in all honesty, I hope BB accounts for this 25/52 rule to reduce this clear advantage towards pre 2015 songs (by removing all the points for pre 2015 songs past their week 52 unless it is above 25), which would give UF and Closer the top 2.
Yay DLMD beat out Cheap Thrills!! And it's actually looking to get a high position for a #3 peak!! But ugh... at Work finishing above it... :'(
Wow, I didn't expect Heathens to make it above Stressed Out, but not complaining at all! It's looking as if Heathens is gonna be right on the border, and I REALLY hope it makes...
Sad to see that Stitches and SUAD and Stressed Out are falling short... once again, this proves 1) the unfairness of the 25/52 rule and 2) inverse point system doesn't capture the true details of the song's importance in the era
Also Starboy... I'm glad it's gonna make it but I'm sad it's not gonna go too high... If only it didn't get overwhelmed out of the top 10... grr....
Wow at CSTF!! it's longevity is so impressive! But not complaining at all! Hopefully it continues to last and manages to slip in a decade end position :)
RIP Cold Water... you're not either one of these three artists' bests, but you're still a jam and you're just so fun to listen to. I'm not gonna complain that you're not making Decade end because you're run wasn't all that strong, but this definately deserves a position more than probably more than half of songs on that chart rn. You will be remembered.
Finally, I doubt this will happen, but I swear if Bad & bulls**t makes it but Black Beatles doesn't, I'm gonna be a very angry person. I mean I'm not that into Black Beatles, but of the viral songs, probably the only ones I like are Panda and Beatles. Meanwhile, bulls**t is one of the worst. Especially since Panda is looking to miss out... I swear if B&B does any damage to decade end...
And for some reason I just realized Mirrors and JGMAR aren't making it :'( well maybe JGMAR if it gets super lucky but Mirrors :'( also Lights :'( The Monster :'( I Knew You Were Trouble :'(

The inverse system is a fucking joke. It looks fine towards the top of the list, but the further you go down, the more evident it becomes that the inverse system favors songs with staying power/more top 10 weeks over songs that may not have been in the top 10 as long, but had stronger peaks (points wise, not position wise) and that really irks me.

I'm going to guess by the next monthly update Closer will already be #4, if not #3. Heathens should be in the Top 70 if not 65, CSTF! and Starboy should be close or inside to the Top 80, and Black Beatles in the Top 90, assuming none of them drop out during the month. Finally, hopefully by then Shape of You will have significantly reduced its gap on Bad and Bullcr*p.

It's weird how "Can't Stop the Feeling" was above "Cheap Thrills" in the 2016 year end chart, and was above it in the 2017 Hot 100 charts, yet Can't Stop the Feeling won't make the decade end chart, and it's 35 spots behind "Cheap Thrills" despite being the bigger hit. The 2000s decade chart was similar, I remember "The Sweet Escape" being #3 on the 2007 year end, and "Girlfriend" being #12 on the 2007 year end, yet Girlfriend made the cut on the decade chart, and The Sweet Escape didn't.

Probably the one that caught many off-guard regarding the 2000s decade-end Hot 100 was having I Gotta Feeling above Boom Boom Pow even though the former was #4 in the 2009 Year-End while the latter was #1.
