Ugh, I hate that he's doing this Chris Brown long album thing. Nobody has the patience to finish 26 tracks these days. It actually turns listeners away. I'll check out the songs that feature Amber Mark, Ledisi, Jazmine, Rhapsody, Saweetie, and Jhene.

I’ve enjoyed all his albums and I appreciate artists who still commit to creating full-length projects instead of Lunchables so I’m optimistic that he’s delivering another solid set.

Love the album cover.
I mean, that’s all I got. I haven’t been interested since Once Again (arguably his best work, though the debut has more replay value).

Rounds Dope Strawberry Blush Splash You Fate Love One Last Dance Nervous Wonder Woman Honey I Want You to Know Speak in Tongues Good
Act I > Act II. It definitely did not need to be a double-disc (especially since his piano ballads tend to skew cheesy) but I knew there'd be a solid project in there somewhere. The production is crisp all around though so I enjoyed listening to it all even if every song didn’t move me.

John delivers constantly on his albums. That said, I agree that this didn't need to be a double album, just a regular-to-medium length one with bonus tracks. but at least he tried and there is nothing actually bad on the album. That production, though? *chef's kiss* It sounds expensive and is definitely his best produced album, I would say. The first act is definitely stronger than the second act.
1. Through The Night: This is what I want from John and he delivers it to me at least once an album. What a fucking song. I have been the protagonist of this song one too many times. This song brought me to tears. I can see why it's a bonus track, though. You can tell John is writing this as a character because usually he is always usually horny for Chrissy, over the moon for Chrissy, or talking about how toxic their relationship is, LOL. Those are his modes. This is something altogether different and I am just so grateful it exists. Instantly became my favorite song of his. I didn't think he could surpass So High (although he came close with I Love, You Love), but this is a masterpiece. 2. Splash: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. He really does have good chemistry with Jhene. Ty better SING that nastiness. That elegant piano and Thank You at the end send me. 3. Love: Sounds like a no brainer for Urban AC to me and I haven't been in radio for 20 years, so I could be wrong. Jazzy goes OFF! Too short, though. 4. Fate: He continues to have such strong chemistry with female singers and he chooses the ones that complement him the best and even make him better. I like how the vocals are treated here, it's so airy and hypnotic. 5. The Other Ones: This was...unexpected and the surprise factor definitely helped it, but I like the dark, dramatic vibe of it and I like Rapsody. First time hearing her that I can recall. Kinda gives me old-school Timbaland, when he worked with OneRepublic. Not surprised that Tedder was also on this one. 6. All She Wanna Do: This makes me feel the same way Thinking About You by Ciara made me feel. I LOVE this. Has this been released to pop? I didn't know that John could sound this good singing a pop bop, but it makes me feel giddy. Demerits for including it twice, though. I mean, I like the song, but...damn. Did they really need to fill space like this? They could have just put the Saweetie version on the album and called it. Can't say I follow Saweetie or could pick her out of a lineup, but her verse is cute. Made me wish Nicki was on it instead, though. 7. Strawberry Blush: This is immaculate. One of John's best songs. That bass at the end is just...wow. Free Nationals did their thing. 8. Good: Wow. I have been sleeping on Ledisi, I guess. What a beautiful voice and a great complement to John's. 9. Wonder Woman: His upper register is perfect on this song and just enough. It's a classic type throwback song and executed flawlessly. 10. Nervous: This was very enjoyable. Everything just clicked. 11. Honey: Saved by the feature. I've never heard of miss Muni Long, but I will put respect on her name. Also, the length of the song was perfect. 12. Rounds: Sexy AF and reminds me of Leon Bridges, with more of an edge. That said, why does Rick Ross sound like that? It sounds like the mixing is really off for his verse, too. 13. Dope: This song is dope. I really dig it. It's a better Suit & Tie. It's nice and succinct, too.
14. I Want You To Know: I wanted to sing Red Red Wine over this. It's nice. It makes me want to be on a party boat in St. Maarten. 15. Home: Touching. He sings the shit out of this, too. His voice will always make me believe him, even in the sappy songs. 16. Pieces: Beautiful. Not much else to say. 17. Stardust: Very pretty. Very John. He can do this in his sleep, at this point. It's time he starts writing American Idol coronation songs because that's what this sounds like. Again, his voice will ALWAYS carry a song like this, though. 18. Speak In Tongues: This is very smooth and relaxing. Kinda filler-ish, but it's cute. 19. One Last Dance: The producer who did Splash did this?? Well, he is versatile! John sounds like he is covering one of his own songs here. It's pleasant enough, though. It does give me Get Lifted vibes, but it's not a bad thing. 20. Cool: A good bonus track. 21. You: It's interesting. Oak's production saves it. The hook is weak and I don't like John's vocals on this. He can go into his upper register, but not too long. It becomes grating after a while. 22. I Don't Love You Like I Used To: Awwww. I love him and Chrissy together. It seems that they have turbulence but also a deep-rooted love and fight for each other, which makes me hopeful. 23. Memories: I pretty much put this on the same level as Guy Like Me. Nice gowns. 24. Guy Like Me: It's a cool vibe, but also kinda background music. 25. Waterslide: I don't like his vocal performance in this at all. There was no logical reason for him to sing it like that. It improves in the second half at least. The ooh la la in your waterslide is annoying, though.

He deserves more, but I understand the landscape for R&B rn. It’s also a double album which is more a hindrance in the streaming era unless you have a rabid fanbase. He may have been better off releasing them in separate parts.

I’m not a huge John Legend fan musically but own some of his stuff. My favorites by him are “Green Light”, “A Good Night”, “All For Me” and “Tonight (best you ever had). Now with this new album I can add “All She Wanna Do” ft Saweetie. That song is a bop! In away the chorus kind of reminds me of “Can’t Stop The Feeling”? Was it pushed?? Other songs from his latest release I added were: “Rounds” “Waterslide” “Dope” “Strawberry Blush” “The Other Ones” and “Nervous”. The last 4 I’ll probably stick on different playlists. A couple of them are bops. I’m going to go back to his older stuff and see if things have changed and I may appreciate more of it.

Everyone should listen to Once Again, again.
An album.
A masterpiece.
