Apparently Vine is shutting down? Don't know why, but it means that we might not see viral dance craze songs on the chart anymore. That is almost news good enough to forgot that drake will drop another album this year. |

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but Black Beatles might be on its way to a top 10 peak on the Hot 100.
It's already top 20 in sales and still gaining, it's doing really well in streaming, and it only has 14M (kworb) AI, so it's going to grow alot on there and raise it's chart points even more.
In my opinion, this song is pretty good, so I wouldn't mind it hitting top 10, but I just don't want it to stick around forever (and I doubt it will).

I actually wouldn't mind if "Black Beatles" made it to the top 10. It's their first song that I do actually care about.
Also it looks like Treat You Better is going to fall out of top 10. Finally.

Lord...I dunno if I'm looking forward to the coming weeks of this madness.  According to Kworb Closer will remain at #1 on DSS with 86k. That sum will be the lowest for a #1 song since 10 full years ago, when Lips Of A Angel sold 75k on the issue October 28th (Irreplaceable sold close to the former figure at 88k on the last issue in 2006). About time sales fell to lows!!!! Er...why are low sales figures specifically a good thing, exactly? |

Whoa! I just now noticed Calvin Harris' video for My Way - and it's been out for 1 day already. On first viewing, 10 times better than TIWYCF's awful video!!! BTW it looks like the song has passed its peak (although the video will give it a boost at least for a week).

This logic doesn't make any sense. Higher sales means more income to the music industry. Streaming does not create the same revenue as digital sales. Also, you can literally just look at it as deflation. 3m in today's terms is the same as 5 or 6 million in 2009/2010. I just don't get why someone would be upset that songs were reaching 5-7 million copies sold. Like, why is that a bad thing to you? Why are you tired of it? What are you gaining by all songs selling poorly? |

Assuming that Closer breaks the One Sweet Day record, I don't think it would take another 20 years for this record to be broken again. From what I've seen long runs at #1 are just more common than in the past.
