It's decent and sounds current but nothing really stood out for me. I have some favorites but with low replay value.
Crowded Room Ring Rare Dance Again

I'm truly convinced listening to "Vulnerable" with headphones is a gift from the gods.

This is a solid pop album. Dance Again should be a single at some point.
I will still forever be bitter that Sober wasn't a single in Revival era.

Her vocals on Crowded Room... I'm weak. The studio singer they hired did a great job!

This is great overall. She definitely has her own corner of pop, even if it is mostly producer-driven.

This time, Target had their shit together. When I called to ask about the CD, they were like "Are you calling about Selena?!" YESSSSSS! Looking forward to listening to this tonight.

Absolutely love this. I would say this is her best album, which is saying a lot given how much I love Revival. She's carved out her own sound and she does it incredibly well.

This time, Target had their s**t together. When I called to ask about the CD, they were like "Are you calling about Selena?!" YESSSSSS! Looking forward to listening to this tonight. I guess one could say their frequency to have New Releases in stock on release day is... rare? ... I’ll see myself out.

Look At Her Now has become a favorite of mine. A Sweeter Place, Dance Again and Rare really grabbed my attention. The rest... Didn't do much to me. But if fills well an overall cohesive album. Writing is well polished, so I might revisit this album. Sonically, I think it is too safe and minimalist, but it is her brand of songs. Glad to see the droplets tacked onto the deluxes versions, specially Fetish and Bad Liar, which are some of her strongest work.

I like "Rare". As a whole it's a nice piece of work that blends nicely together. I wasn't huge on the lead single but liked "Look At Her Now" and liked the "previews" she posted as well.. I can hear the Julia Michael influence on a few tracks and I think "Ring" sounds like a Camila track but I still like them. Favorites so far are: "Dance Again" "Rare" "Crowded Room" (could this do something at some Urban stations)... May end up being my favorite, slow burner.. "Kinda Crazy" "Let Me Get Me" "Vulnerable" I like the digital thing they do to her voice. I also already owned "Look At Her Now" and was kind of into "Ring" too. Good release!! One of the better one's I've heard in awhile.

I think out of the droplets, really only “Bad Liar” would fit the album really well. the funk with dance again and rare. Would be great

WHEW CHILE, Selene. Queen of Reverb. Queen of Sighs. Queen of Moans. Queens of Tribal Shrieks. Queen of Talking. The producers did their fucking thing on this album. This is much better than Revival and looking back, that was a strong album. Selena and co. DELIVERED. As I expected, most of the loosies would be at the top of the pack, but whatever. I'll give this an A-. A breezy listen, even with the Target version, and technically not one bad song on the whole thing. If I had to get rid of ONE song, it would be Kinda Crazy but even that song is listenable.
1. Bad Liar (her best song, PERIOD. I am so glad they included the loosies on the Target edition cuz CHILE, this song is STILL a vibe) 2. Ring (WHAT. IS. THISSSSSS?!?) 3. Look At Her Now (flawless. this song deserves someone who can perform it. i would love to see Parris do a choreo video for this, but apparently, she is a Justin stan) 4. Fetish (still FIRE) 5. Wolves (this will NEVER get old. the lyrics, the production, when the beat slows down into that post-chorus grind, I DIE every time) 6. It Ain't Me (YESSSSSSSS! Bowery, whiskey neat. Still a jam!) 7. Rare (a great song and excellent choice7 for next single. hopefully, it's not too weird for radio because, it is a little strange) 8. Lose You To Love Me (this song really grew on me to be one of my favorite Selena songs and previously the only ballad of hers I liked was Nobody, which was a masterpiece. this may even be better than that one. I believe her here. I didn't know FINNEAS had a hand in this until I got the CD and saw the credits.) 9. People You Know (again...this production is...special. I don't know if I want to have sex or conduct a seance.) 10. Crowded Room (single on Urban, please) 11. Fun (yessss Julia! come through!! was this made during the same time as Bad Liar??) 12. Cut You Off (wow, this is something different for her and it works) 13. Back To You (wow, I didn't really remember this and assumed it was an EDM song, but it's pretty close I guess) 14. Dance Again (funky, reminds me Dua Lipa 2.0)
Bonus: 15. Vulnerable (she sounds like a straight up robot for most of the song but I like the lyrics (the parts I could understand, anyway...) and production. That breakdown was insane and unexpected. 16. Let Me Get Me (I love how she has really embraced this gypsy motif in her music. no one else is doing it so I will definitely give her that.) 17. A Sweeter Place (awww this wound up being cute and Cudi killed the production) 18. Kinda Crazy (pure, unadulterated filler, but it's still good! the guitar lick is so catchy!)

Target didn't even have this. on. the. freakin. shelves. when I went in to get mine after work. The associate in Electronics told me that "new releases come out on Tuesday so it should be on the shelf".
Well it wasn't. He stomped to the back room and brought out a STACK so the fine people of Cleveland, Ohio can thank a true Selenator for making sure the shelves were stocked at Target ta-day!

Now up to 78 with 6 reviews!!! YESSS CRITICAL ACCLAIMED QUEEN SELENE! The incredible critical acclaim! I'm still not on board with some songs (especially the lower half of the album) but I wouldn't be surprised if this received Grammy love. It reminds me of "thank u, next" in terms of cohesiveness. The sound is very unique throughout the album.

Well deserved. YouTube reactor Ajayii trashed it. When she is off, she is REALLY off. Girlie has a personal vendetta against Selena or sumn. Anyway, we love a crticially acclaimed album! Pop perfection at it's finest.

Rare Dance Again Look at Her Now Ring Vulnerable Crowded Room Kinda Crazy Cut You Off Bad Liar Fetish Back to You Wolves
Easily her best work. Feels mature without trying too hard and just enough fluff to make it an authentic yet relatable Selena project. Very curious to see what singles they push.

The album debuted with 28 million Spotify streams. Considering only Rare and LYTLM were playlisted, this isn't awful. Hopefully the increased promotion throughout the week will help it stay stable.
EDIT: 5th biggest Spotify debut for a female album.

Those Spotify numbers are.... sad. Considering the success of LYTLM and LAHN... what’s going on??

Those Spotify numbers are.... sad. Considering the success of LYTLM and LAHN... what’s going on?? If I had to guess, I'd say that only pushing one official single before the album release hurt it, not to mention the minimal promotion. Releasing "Rare", the song, on the 10th and the album on the 31st would've been a better way to build hype.

She should have released more tracks before the album to hype it up. I'm sure the streams will hold up well though as more and more people discover the album.
