Not sure about the new Katy Perry single...it's not that catchy. I can see it flopping. I doubt it, it still has an entire week to go and a Grammy performance. Again, if Work can sell 164k copies in 24 hours with no promotion, performance, or video. Katy should be able to at least pull some figures.

It also has a radio deal so it will end up the week with sizable airplay. Let's see how it holds during the week but it'd be really cool to have a new #1. So far there's been much more turnover at the top of the charts this year, compared to 2016.
I really like the track. It's no "Dark Horse", but it's no "Rise" either, thankfully.

Chained to the Rhythm is currently #5 in iTunes. So let's see if it's able to reach #1 before the end of the day. Depending on that, we'll get a sense of how it might do. The other thing is to check how big a boost it gets the day after the Grammy performance.

I'd love for Chained to the Rhythm and I Don't Wanna Live Forever to hit #1 if only for even more turnover (well, that'd also mean Ed Sheeran wouldn't be #1).

Just because it doesn't hit #1 today does not mean it won't do well. 50 Shades song will dominate the day because of the premiere last night and of course this weekend now.

Also you mean the lyric video...

It's far from Teenage Dream era which I think was her best. She will sell regardless just because she has made a name. I just don't see this song having a 30 week run.

Nick Jonas and Katy Perry is actually with their new single in top 10 on iTunes us, Katy in #4 and Nick #7. It's likely both getting top 10 debuts? I'm really with crossed fingers. My two favorite artists. Curious to see how Bom Bidi Bom will do in radio and Spotify now.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7686091/lady-gaga-million-reasons-hot-100-top-ten-super-bowlLady Gaga's 'Million Reasons' Aiming to Touch Down in Hot 100's Top 10 Next Week After she performed the ballad during her Super Bowl halftime show Sunday (Feb. 5), "Reasons" should rocket to a new high – and rank as the week's top-selling song.Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons" is aiming to vault into the top 10 on next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Feb. 25), following her performance of the ballad during her Super Bowl LI halftime show Sunday (Feb. 5). The song is set to make a comeback similar to that of the New England Patriots, who overcame a 28-3 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28, in the game. "Reasons" originally peaked at No. 52 on the Hot 100 dated Dec. 24, 2016, and last appeared on the chart dated Feb. 11, after 11 weeks on the survey. Industry forecasters suggest that "Reasons" could sell more than 125,000 downloads in the week ending Feb. 9, easily making it the week's best-selling song. (Gaga's halftime set reportedly drew an audience of 117.5 million on Fox, the second-greatest in Super Bowl history, trailing only Katy Perry's, which garnered 120.7 million, two years ago.) When finalized streaming (likely more than 6 million U.S. streams in the tracking week) and radio airplay (more than 12 million in all-format audience) are added to the mix, as the Hot 100 blends streaming, airplay and sales data, "Reasons" could become Gaga's 14th top 10 Hot 100 hit, and first in more than three years. She last appeared in the region with the No. 4-peaking "Applause," on the chart dated Nov. 30, 2013. "Reasons" is the second single from Gaga's most recent album Joanne, which arrived as her fourth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Nov. 12. Lead single "Perfect Illusion" peaked at No. 15 on the Hot 100 in October and spent six weeks on the list. "Reasons" has been steadily climbing the Adult Pop Songs and Pop Songs airplay charts, bulleting at Nos. 21 and 32, respectively, on the latest, Feb. 18-dated rankings. Meanwhile, as previously reported, Gaga could place two albums in the top 10 of next week's Billboard 200 (dated Feb. 25). Industry forecasters suggest that Joanne could soar from No. 66 to No. 2 with around 70,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Feb. 9, while her debut LP The Fame could re-enter in the top 10 with around 40,000 units. Check Billboard.com Monday (Feb. 13), when highlights of the new Hot 100's top 10 will post, a day after the Billboard 200's top 10 recap goes live. Both charts, and all tallies, will update Tuesday (14).

MR new sales estimates are really on extreme low-side of what I anticipated based on how well it held up on iTunes.

IDWLF having the movie and soundtrack starting to be available today is naturally a greater initially boost that KP's being a new song. I guess we we're spoiled by the Teenage Dream era and thought anything she put out would hit #1 immediately, which is hard to sustain in the long run.

Good for Gaga. If you count Fame Monster as an album, this means she's had top tens from 5 albums. I'd say all her albums but then there's Cheek to Cheek...
It's a random stat, but I wonder who's had the most albums that have a top ten song? My guess would be Madonna who has 17 by my count.

She's also behind the Ed song that has been out for weeks. And, yes, my point is people assumed she'd shoot right to the top, but obviously that isn't the case. When some of us pointed out the Olympics song didn't do great, the excuse was it wasn't a lead single from an album. Where here is a lead single, and it couldn't pass 2 songs that have been out for weeks now.

I think it's way too soon to write this off just yet. We've seen countless lead singles by big names not peak in their first week of release.

Madonna has 38 Top 10 Hits, so she'd be most likely to have that record you mention. Looking at her albums and their top 10s: Madonna: Lucky Star, Borderline Like a Virgin: Like a Virgin, Material Girl, Angel, Dress You Up True Blue: Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, True Blue, Open Your Heart, La Isla Bonita Who's That Girl OST: Who's That Girl, Causing a Commotion Like a Prayer: Like a Prayer, Express Yourself, Cherish, Keep It Together I'm Breathless OST: Vogue, Hanky Panky Immaculate Collection: Justify My Love, Rescue Me Erotica: Erotica, Deeper and Deeper Bedtime Stories: Secret, Take a Bow Something to Remember: You'll See Evita OST: Don't Cry For Me Argentina Ray of Light: Frozen, Ray of Light Music: Music, Don't Tell Me Confessions on a Dance Floor: Hung Up Hard Candy: 4 Minutes MDNA: Give Me All Your Lovin' Crazy for You came from the Vision Quest OST, This Used to be My Playground was featured in A League of Their Own but not on the OST, I'll Remember was from the With Honors OST, Die Another was from the Die Another Day OST So according to my count that'd be 16. What's your 17th album?

Past their peak. It happens to every artist sooner or later. Even if they have a #1 album, it doesn't guarantee a hit single. I wish some of my favorites could still make the Top 40, but I realized it won't happen. This is why I don't pay much attention to the charts as closely as I did years ago. I only like about a third of the entire Hot 100. If even that. Today's music and most artists I find with very little talent. Whether Katy Perry has a huge hit won't bother me, it would be great to see her have the success of 7 years ago. Yet to be said again. Every artist hits their peak.
