It seems clear that Katy Perry is suffering from me suddenly really liking her. I loved Rise, it flopped hard. I really like this new single as well and people are calling it a disappointment. She probably needs to go back to releasing terrible crap like Firework, California Gurls and Teenage Dream to have #1's again.
Will be interesting to see whether Max Martin will fail to have a #1 song for the first time since 2007. Katy Perry was surely one of the artists they were counting on to secure him further #1's.

KATY PERRY - Chained To The Rhythm: 37.333 (+ 9.248) 6 days after the Super Bowl: LADY GAGA - MILLION REASONS 18.460 (+1.265) Million Reasons is doing so well on airplay now! I'm actually quite shocked since radio usually doesn't act this fact or really even care half the time.

So what's the official list of performers for tonight? I don't think there's one. For example, I haven't found who's doing the George Michael tribute. So expect some surprises.

I love how so many musicians died last year that the Grammy's aren't even gonna do individual tributes, since it would take to much time, so they are gonna jam them all together. It's an interesting idea, I'd rather have that then sit through several boring tributes.
Rihanna isn't performing and there's no news of a LOTB video. Which is bad for LOTB, as I feel like it's peaked.

Adele performed Hello, say goodbye to Water Under The Bridge everybody.
On the brightside, maybe Hello can catch a second wind. Let's hope. The song died way too quickly.

I'm just hoping DLMD can gain enough points for it to deny the 25/52 rule and get a 53rd week on Billboard, which would guarantee it a 2017 YE spot.

I have deep hope for a surprise music video premiere during or after Grammys. IFIC, WUTB, maybe CTTR? We will probably get nothing but hey you can always have hope. I have to stop trying to be optimistic

Closer jumped up 12 spots (23-11) today on iTunes for some reason, it's currently sitting at #13. I don't know why. Anyone have an explanation for the jump? Grammy's?

Yeah, while I do like Hello, I found it pretty odd that Adele didn't perform Water Under The Bridge. Missed opportunity there.
But yeah, the next Hot 100 is gonna be bonkers.

It's crazy how they can play a song for 1 second at the grammys and it would get a huge boost I bet it's what I'm going to call the 2-and-2 effect. People have been hearing Closer passively on the radio for months now but never really knew who sang it or bothered to really look into it much. So they hear it on the Grammys, instantly recognize it, and now they can put a name and face to the song. "THAT'S who sings that song! Imma buy it because I actually really like that song!"

Not sure about the new Katy Perry single...it's not that catchy. I can see it flopping. Again, if Work can sell 164k copies in 24 hours with no promotion, performance, or video. Work sold 126k in its first two days, and 156k in its first full week.

From HDD, they posted this article regarding the effect of the Grammys on iTunes sales: GRAMMY EFFECT FELT AT iTUNES CHARTS"Maren Morris, Keith Urban, Anderson .Paak and Adele saw the most dramatic chart effects in the immediate aftermath of Sunday nightโs 59th annual Grammy Awards. The iTunes album chart currently has 14 titles that made healthy leaps since the 5pm telecast started. Bruno Marsโ 24K Magic rose to #2 from 14, Adeleโs 25 shot to #6 from #20 and Sturgill Simpsonโs A Sailorโs Guide to Earth spiked 28 slots to #7. Increase for Morris was two-pronged: My Church is at 11, up from 39; the title track is #11 on the song chart, up from 105. Also scoring well on the song chart was Keith Urbanโs duet with Carrie Underwood, โThe Fighter,โ which they performed on the show; it came out of nowhere to reach #6. Grammy winners and performers were finding slots among newer titles that included a blockbuster soundtrack, a superstarโs new single and the residue of high-profile TV performances, the Super Bowl and the 2/11 Saturday Night Live. The Weekndโs last two albums have risen into the Top 30; .Paakโs Malibu coasted 55 slots to #22; and Lukas Graham sits at #28, up from #95. The Bee Gees tribute pushed their Greatest to #37 while Metallica, A Tribe Called Quest and Gary Clark Jr. have also ventured into the Top 40."

Nick Jonas and Katy Perry is actually with their new single in top 10 on iTunes us, Katy in #4 and Nick #7. It's likely both getting top 10 debuts? Curious to see how Bom Bidi Bom will do in radio and Spotify now. While Katy Perry could debut in the top 10 (its not guaranteed since she'll sell about 100k - kworb predicted a week of 45k but that was before the Grammys), Nick Jonas could settle for a top 50 debut. His song is selling because the soundtrack was just released, and considering it's not promoted to radio yet, it won't stick around for long in the top 10 of iTunes.
