Maneater also didn't do well in the US. Mostly because as the song was climbing, they quickly cancelled it and moved onto Say It Right. I really don't know the reason as to why. Ik about that, kind of was a stupid move since Maneater clearly was doing well Maneater imo also is the best song off of Loose so shame they did it dirty in the US

From the Billboard top 10 reveal stream: Post Malone being only 22. He looks older.

After 3 pretty successful singles Promiscuous, Maneater, & Say It Right This flopped in the US and only made it to #86 on the Hot 100, I always thought it was as big as the rest cause I heard it as much as the other 3 singles before it IMO these 4 singles in succession was amazing single selection Such a shame for All Good Things, but at least it was HUUUGE in Europe. That was one great album. Really.

I completely blanked out this year, but...Gangnam Style not being a #1 hit.
Also, Let's Get It Started barely making the top 25. It honestly could've been a #1 hit.

I'm always shocked that "Sisters Are Doin It For Themselves" only peaked at #18 on the Hot 100 and didn't crack the top 20 on Pop. Maybe it's just because it's been used in so many things over the past three decades and become a feminist anthem, I assumed it was way bigger than it actually was. I would've sworn it was a #1 smash.

For the longest time, I didn't know that Will Smith's "Wild Wild West" actually samples Stevie Wonder's "I Wish".
A more recent surprising discovery...Ace of Base's "Don't Turn Around" was a cover of a Tina Turner b-side. And Neil Diamond also covered it before Ace of Base.

Shania Twain originally wrote You're Still The One with the intent of it being sung by someone else with a more "powerhouse" voice, and Mutt Lange convinced her to record it herself.
Can only imagine how it would have gone if it was sent to Whitney Houston.
You're still the one that I PUUUUUUUUUFFFFFFF The only one I'll do lines AAAUUUUUGGGHHHHHHOOOHHHHHOOOOOOFFFFFFF

Today I found out that "You got the love" by Florence in the machine was a song from the 80's and their version is a cover

Credence Clearwater Revival aren't from the Louisiana, Mississippi area, but from San Francisco
It's like finding out that Red Hot Chilli Peppers aren't actually from California.

Maybe this isn't shocking but I just found out that the main actress from Lady Bird was the one who starred in Sheeran's "Galway Girl" video

I remember being surprised when I discovered that "Calvin Harris" is a stage name Why am I just figuring this out? I went into his thread a few days ago and was like who the f**k is Adam?

That Taylor wrote a smash song for someone else under a fake name, and then Rihanna agreeing to record it at all, let alone with Taylor's demo vocals incorporated. Did Rihanna know Taylor wrote it before recording it? She must have, right?
It just surprises me on both of their behalves. Not that there's any drama between them, necessarily... just not something I would imagine either would do. Taylor seems like she would want credit in all instances, and Rihanna seems like she would pass on the project. We all know how it turned out, with Taylor claiming credit once things went south with Calvin, and Rihanna quasi-dancing around in a box all the way to the bank, unbothered, adding to her mound of big hits.

I don't really think it's *that* complicated. I think Rihanna's team wanted a pop song to keep her on radio while the ANTI singles were hitting hard at Urban. She liked the coin and turned the other cheek when she found out Taylor wrote it.

You know they both agreed to use a fake name to do it because they didn't want their partnership as a couple to overshadow the actual song. Then when their relationship was rocky already, Calvin said in a radio station he would not consider doing a song with Taylor. They broke up and Taylor felt betrayed and TMZ leaked the information. Can you really blame Taylor though? She wrote and composed the song and then Calvin made a douche move saying he would never do a song with her while he had already created the song. She should have sung the s**t out of that song and get that #1 smash. Rihanna's vocals were really bland.

I would love to hear Taylor's version. Rihanna may be less colorful on it than she is on some of her stuff, but her tone is perfect for this type of song and really adds to it, in my opinion. I do think she could have went in a little more on it, it was a little going-through-the-motions, even in the video. But it worked. I still love it. And I love Taylor's parts. Calvin turned it out. This and How Deep Is Your Love are still in rotation at my house.

Rihanna doesn't give a damn who wrote the song as long as a cheque is attached to it. Her team is constantly accepting demos and holding writing camps for projects. I'm more surprised that you think Rihanna is involved in the composing side at such a large capacity.

I just meant the song seemed like something she would pass on in general, let alone who wrote it.

Calvin Harris ushered in a new wave of sound for Rihanna with We Found Love which was outside of her realm on a vocal level. It seems they wanted lightning to strike again and it happened. The process for This Is What You Came For coming into fruition was very much the same as WFL, so I'm failing to see what you are implying. Rihanna doesn't have a set sound if that's what you are reaching for.

Gasolina only peaked at #32
Living in a Latino household, I've had to listen to this song soooo many times and I know a lot of people who still listen to it. With this, I thought Gasolina would've been a top 10 hit
