None of the members of the R&B group Silk actually rapped on “Freak Me”. The actual performer is not in the music video.

I was shocked to find out a few years ago that producer Lee Marrow used the same singers Jenny B and Sandra Chambers to be the voices of several of his projects and have different models mime to those vocals in the videos and live performances. Each different model would be considered one act. Corona and Playahitty were the most famous of those ones. At one point, several of his "acts" were all charting at the same time. I remember discovering that and how it’s kind of common in 90s dance music. I can’t figure out how it’s different from Milli Vanilli other than I guess maybe they were known to be models/placeholders at the time and people didn’t care?

Most didn't even know this was going on and they didn't really care after finding out. In the case of Corona, the model/dancer who was the face of the group can actually sing fairly decently. During some of her live performances, she'll actually sing live instead of miming. It's possible she got singing lessons and really worked on it.

That Martha Wash, who sang It's Raining Men, sang on Everybody Dance Now (and other early 90s dance songs)
That Avril Lavigne is only a month older than Katy Perry.
That Vanilla Ice had a 2nd 10 top hit and U Can't Touch This was only MC Hammer's 5th biggest song by chart position

That Cascada isn't the name of the singer but the name of a group consisting of 3 people (singer Natalie Horler, and DJ-s Yanou and Manian).

Cardi B is only 26. She's 3 years younger than Taylor Swift, she's 3 months younger than Selena Gomez and she's only 8 months older than Ariana Grande.

I missed when it was confirmed many years ago that Nicole Scherzinger sang pretty much every note on the Pussycat Dolls albums, so when I found that out more recently I was pretty shocked.
I was also surprised to learn (a long time ago) that Alanis Morissette got her start on kids' TV and released dance albums before 'Jagged Little Pill.'

P!nk's "Long Way to Happy" is about her experience being raped by a cop as a teenager, not a one night stand or miscarriage. Wow.

I can’t figure out how it’s different from Milli Vanilli other than I guess maybe they were known to be models/placeholders at the time and people didn’t care? It really wasn't any different. She first did a demo of "You're My One An Only(true love) for civiles and cole. They gave it to Seduction and left her vocals and altered them some when the song started to take off. I don't think they realized it was going to be such a big hit. Then Black Box a house group recruited her to do demo vocals on tracks "Everybody, Everybody and I Don't know anybody else". She's also the vocalist on their hit "Strike It Up". She sued them and worked out an agreement with them for touring and album releases. Similar thing happened to her with C&C Music Factory (civiles and cole) and she ended up suing. I don't think any of these production teams realized their songs were going to hit it big. But yes they hired models to lipsync her vocals. After Milli Vanilli I think some of the models ended up singing some of the vocals live.

Yep, the face of Corona is Brazilian model (and singer) Olga de Souza. She still performs around the world as Corona using her own vocals... I don't think most people realize it's a different voice as she doesn't sound that different from the original

Pharrell’s chant in SWV’s “Right Here (Human Nature)” is actually part of a rap on the UK Back to Black Mix.
Destiny’s Child related:
- Latavia and Letoya appear on most of the DC4 singles. “Jumpin Jumpin” is all Beyoncé.
- Farrah and Michelle could be heard on “Independent Women Part 1”.

Why am I just now finding out "Clowns" by Goldfrapp is about big fake titties? I've always found the words unintelligible, but it's such a delicate and pretty song I never cared or looked at the lyrics, lmao.

Britney Spears' "Out From Under" is not only a cover, but its original version was recorded for the soundtrack of the critically panned "Bratz: The Movie". How did Britney and her team even come across this track in the first place? 😭

I first heard "Freak Me" on a Monsta Jamz (or another Time Life R&B CD) in 2004. I thought it was LL Cool J. I also discovered "Weak" by SWV on one of those albums in 2004. I was surprised when I listened to Jojo's debut album and heard her singing "Weak."

I was very shocked to learn that Stevie Wonder is third cousin to the Jackson siblings. Between him, Janet, and Michael, the talent and gift for music run strong in their genes.

I had heard Adina Howards' "Freak Like Me" in the past and knew of its existence, but clearly I didn't know it well, because it took about a year of me becoming a Sugababes fan to realize that their "Freak Like Me" was the same song as Adina Howard's (mashed up with the instrumental to Tubeway Army's "Are Friends Electric?").
Vince Clarke (one half of Erasure) was a founding member of Depeche Mode and wrote most of the songs on their first album.

It was quite shocking for me to discover that the iconic 'smoke weed everyday' line from "The Next Episode" was not actually sung by Snoop Dogg, but by his cousin Nate Dogg.
Also, I assumed Snoop and Nate were siblings rather than cousins.

When it comes to early 2000s Hip Hop, here are some that popped up: Shelene Thomas who assisted Jennifer Lopez on the J. Lo album, including the third and fourth singles, was the female voice on the Bravehearts/Nas hit "Oochie Wally". Youngbloodz crunk hit "Damn!" also features Lil' Jon's artist Bohagon, who chants the first half of the hook.
