Crazy fact: Butch Walker said that The Best Damn Thing was actually going to be the first single, and he and Avril did an entire record before she met Luke. "Fly" is the most recent Avril Lavigne single to exist. It is actually a stand alone single Avril released in April 2015 to benefit her own charity, the Avril Lavigne Foundation, which helps children and youth living with serious illnesses or disabilities. "Fly" was also created to be the official anthem for the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Avril even performed the track at the opening ceremony. Since its release, Avril also mentions that it has taken of a different meaning after she contracted Lyme disease "[The song is] about inner strength and courage... The message of the song is to show the world that they can overcome the challenges and that everyone is meant to shine and this song took on a whole new meaning for me during the time that I've been sick, which was pretty magical." She said that Lyme disease had left her bedridden for months; "I could barely eat, and when we went to the pool, I had to leave and go lie in bed. My friends asked, 'What's wrong?' I didn't know. I had no idea a bug bite could do this. I was bedridden for five months. I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying." Avril also talks about the song in regards to the special olympics. "This song means a lot to me personally. It is inspired by the many young people I've met throughout my work with my Foundation. They pursue their dreams no matter what obstacles they face... Special Olympics' mission is to unleash the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, so they're a natural fit for this song." The track managed to scrape the Billboard Canada Hot 100 at number 92 and was a top 20 hit in Indonesia.

Losing Grip is a damn jam. It's Sk8er Boi that will forever suck.

Also, The Under My Skin era was so epic! I got the CD on release day and played it SO much! I also got three CD singles from that era too. Don't Tell Me, He Wasn't and My Happy Ending. All are so great! The album wasn't as epic as Let Go but it sure was fun to be a fan during it! I had no apologies!

Agreed. It did pretty well in Canada too I think and I'm pretty sure there was a music video. The studio version was released on a double-disc compilation called Peace Songs in Canada in early 2003. It was produced by Avril also.

Im sure there was a MV too. The song was pretty popular in my country and thats the reason why I ranked higher. Quality song with a quality artist.

I used to think it was hot garbage, but I can't get enough of it because it's so over the top and funny. Although I don't usually care for that type of EDM drop, I don't mind it here. I do wish there were weird, robotic orgasmic moans during the drop or naughty kitty sounds. Miao miao.

If y'all remember the thread where we actually debated whether Hello Kitty was racist or not, I defended that what she was doing was fine b/c Japan (as she, no doubt, predicted) loved it. But I still ranked it #30 on the simple basis that independent of all that, it's still awful.

Though I charted Fly, it peaked in the 30s and I couldn't stay interested in it. I mean I feel kind of bad b/c it has such meaning to her, but...it is what it is.

How in the world did Knockin' on Heaven's Door end up with five #30s? I mean yeah, it's not that great, but I wouldn't have expected that level of hate.

I feel like I'm due to have one of my left-field Top 10s get shown the door early. NGL every time I see a "so-and-so loses a Top 10" tease come up I'm probably going to think that.

Her vocal refrain in the last minute or so of "Let Me Go" sounds like it could be straight out of a trance-house production. (That said, that particular song wouldn't have worked getting that kind of remix treatment [because, Kroeger].)
