Yeah, it may be my #26, but it's kind of a guilty pleasure. The "come, come kitty, kitty you're so pretty pretty" part is honestly catchy as fuck. I do agree the drop is strange and doesn't work the best with the rest of the track.

#27 will reveal to us...
Another top ten loss! Again, though, only one user has this next track in their top ten. Two users placed this track at #30. The track has the third lowest standard deviation.

Some aspects of The Best Damn Thing are pretty good, while others make it feel like a poor man's Girlfriend. Crazy fact: Butch Walker said that The Best Damn Thing was actually going to be the first single, and he and Avril did an entire record before she met Luke. Once playing the material for Luke, he thought he could do the cheerleader theme better, and that's how Girlfriend came to be. Walker is still very bitter on losing this as the lead single. I think he's delusional.

27. FlyAVG: 23.08571429 MED: 24 STD: 5.169886952 FINAL SCORE: 17.18371128
Album: Avril Lavigne Songwriters: Avril Lavigne, Chad Kroeger, David Hodges Producers: Avril Lavigne, Chris Baseford"Fly" is the most recent Avril Lavigne single to exist. It is actually a stand alone single Avril released in April 2015 to benefit her own charity, the Avril Lavigne Foundation, which helps children and youth living with serious illnesses or disabilities. "Fly" was also created to be the official anthem for the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Avril even performed the track at the opening ceremony. Since its release, Avril also mentions that it has taken of a different meaning after she contracted Lyme disease "[The song is] about inner strength and courage... The message of the song is to show the world that they can overcome the challenges and that everyone is meant to shine and this song took on a whole new meaning for me during the time that I've been sick, which was pretty magical." She said that Lyme disease had left her bedridden for months; "I could barely eat, and when we went to the pool, I had to leave and go lie in bed. My friends asked, 'What's wrong?' I didn't know. I had no idea a bug bite could do this. I was bedridden for five months. I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying." Avril also talks about the song in regards to the special olympics. "This song means a lot to me personally. It is inspired by the many young people I've met throughout my work with my Foundation. They pursue their dreams no matter what obstacles they face... Special Olympics' mission is to unleash the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, so they're a natural fit for this song." The track managed to scrape the Billboard Canada Hot 100 at number 92 and was a top 20 hit in Indonesia. #06 @walker9 #13 bboat11#15 π

I actually had "Fly" ranked much lower in my initial ranking, but I moved it up upon review. (Also I hadn't started using the preference revealer yet)

For #26...
Two users will lose a top ten rank. Meanwhile, five users will lose their number 30. The track also has the same median as "Fly," but actually has an ever so slightly higher average and a larger standard deviation. It actually has the 8th lowest standard deviation.

I also found it humorous that white people were all offended when the video came out but Japan was like "No fam, we love this." That was my favourite lmao telling people what they should be offended by like bitch, stop speaking for everyone else.

Well, that's it for the day, folks! Return tomorrow for 25-21!
Here's some info for #25...
Four people will lost a top ten ranking. Meanwhile, it is actually the first song not to receive any number 30 rankings! It has the sixth lowest standard deviation.

Losing Grip is a damn jam. It's Sk8er Boi that will forever suck.
Also, The Under My Skin era was so epic! I got the CD on release day and played it SO much! I also got three CD singles from that era too. Don't Tell Me, He Wasn't and My Happy Ending. All are so great! The album wasn't as epic as Let Go but it sure was fun to be a fan during it! I had no apologies!

s**t! KOHD deserved better >:( Agreed. It did pretty well in Canada too I think and I'm pretty sure there was a music video. The studio version was released on a double-disc compilation called Peace Songs in Canada in early 2003. It was produced by Avril also.

#26? Ya'll should be ASHAMED I am one of them! It is a nice song, but there's not a bad song in the 30 strong list, and one song had to be ranked 30th. No complaints about the 5 we lost tonight, although i was surprised TBDT was out first. Lost my #23, #25, #26, #29 and #30. Looking forward to tomorrow's reveals.

While I do enjoy her cover, both the Bob Dylan and GNR versions are way better.
It's a beautifully written song for sure, though, and Avril handles it well.

I'm a bit disappointed that "Hello Kitty" wasn't out 2 rounds earlier, but I'm pleased to see that 9 other people agreed with me. I'm also happy that the first 5 songs out were all in my bottom 10.

Yeah, it may be my #26, but it's kind of a guilty pleasure. The "come, come kitty, kitty you're so pretty pretty" part is honestly catchy as f**k. I do agree the drop is strange and doesn't work the best with the rest of the track. I used to think it was hot garbage, but I can't get enough of it because it's so over the top and funny. Although I don't usually care for that type of EDM drop, I don't mind it here. I do wish there were weird, robotic orgasmic moans during the drop or naughty kitty sounds. Miao miao.

I like Hello Kitty's drop more than almost all recent EDM hits' drops.

On that note, I think Avril Lavigne being the featured hook singer on an EDM song could be fun. I wish she could get some things like that lined up to fill in the big wait periods she always puts in between eras.

30. The Best Damn Thing This was pretty much Taylor Swift on uppers. Good riddance.
29. I Always Get What I Want I knew I was going to put this the highest. Green Lavigne sounded awesome to me.
28. Hello Kitty Avril doing K- POp just doesn't work for me. I prefer Green Lavigne any day of the week.

To borrow from another of our favorite Canadians, I think there's a certain irony in "The Best Damn Thing" turning out to be #30. Nothing really to say for I Always Get What I Want except LOLbye. :kii: If y'all remember the thread where we actually debated whether Hello Kitty was racist or not, I defended that what she was doing was fine b/c Japan (as she, no doubt, predicted) loved it. But I still ranked it #30 on the simple basis that independent of all that, it's still awful. Though I charted Fly, it peaked in the 30s and I couldn't stay interested in it. I mean I feel kind of bad b/c it has such meaning to her, but...it is what it is. How in the world did Knockin' on Heaven's Door end up with five #30s? I mean yeah, it's not that great, but I wouldn't have expected that level of hate. I feel like I'm due to have one of my left-field Top 10s get shown the door early. NGL every time I see a "so-and-so loses a Top 10" tease come up I'm probably going to think that. 'Losing Grip' doesn't seem to have stood the test of time like the other 'Let Go' singles. It could have feasibly been in only one person's top 10. :sip2: Speak for yourself. I could see Sk8er Boi going before LG. On that note, I think Avril Lavigne being the featured hook singer on an EDM song could be fun. I wish she could get some things like that lined up to fill in the big wait periods she always puts in between eras. Her vocal refrain in the last minute or so of "Let Me Go" sounds like it could be straight out of a trance-house production. (That said, that particular song wouldn't have worked getting that kind of remix treatment [because, Kroeger].)
