27. Fly I already forget what this sounded like, but it must have been pretty dull for me to stick it at #28
26. Knock Knock Knocking at Heaven's Door This song has been covered so much; I just don't care anymore.

'Losing Grip' doesn't seem to have stood the test of time like the other 'Let Go' singles. It could have feasibly been in only one person's top 10. :sip2: Speak for yourself. I could see Sk8er Boi going before LG. I just meant that, Complicated and I'm With You hold up, and Sk8er Boi, for better or worse is also a notable part of her discography, and I felt like Losing Grip was one of those songs that slipped under the radar/got lost in the shuffle, 'cause it doesn't seem to come up that often when talking about Avril. Although I will grant you that I really haven't had any conversations with anyone about Avril's music nor have I been around or seen any conversations by other people. Past me having it in my top 10 I thought it may have been riddled with middling-to-low rankings from everyone else, hence my initial guess that maybe the first 'one top 10 only' that Austin teased may have been that one. I'm right with you about being nervous every time Austin teases someone losing a top 10, because my #2 is one of my fave Avril songs ever and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was another early-to-midgame departure.

Didn't he also say this... First up, #30. This is the only song in the entire rankdown that did not manage to make it into anyone's top ten.

Except for TBDT, no surprises in the bottom 5. I do have to say that HK was my #30 for awhile but when I did my final review it improved 3 spots. I felt that IAGWIW didn't have any redeeming qualities and that KOHD, despite being an ok cover to me when it charted in my personal chart, it's just become utterly irrelevant and paling in comparison to other covers of that song (Avril sounds too monotonous and doesn't add personality); whereas HK earned bonus points for boldness and catchiness :) Fly is cute. Could've ranked a bit higher. Good to know how meaningful it's for her. I feel it can grow on me with time

No major losses for me so far The Best Damn Thing has a great pre-chorus, the rest of the song sinks like a rock though Hello Kitty is too polarizing in more ways than one. The rest were all kinda forgettable songs, none were bad but not really standout.
Also I'm totally here for Losing Grip

My only regret is not making Give You What You Like top 5. That's the song, where if executed with a proper video/promo could have reinvented her and expanded her beyond "pop-rock" radio expectations.

Hey, everyone! Sorry I haven't been updating this lately. I've had an unexpectedly and abnormally busy week. To tie everyone over, here's #25. 25. GoodbyeAVG: 20.51428571 MED: 22 STD: 6.204227347 FINAL SCORE: 15.27359567
Album: Goodbye Lullaby Songwriters: Avril Lavigne Producers: Avril Lavigne"Goodbye" was a promo single released at the tail end of her Goodbye Lullaby era. In March 2012, a low budgest music video was released for the track. It was directed by Mark Liddell and filmed at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. The video was released as a thank you to Avril's fans. The track is partially the reason for the album's title and is extremely personal to Avril. It was written about the breakup with her now ex-husband Deryck Whibley, lead vocalist on Sum 41. She told Entertainment Weekly: "It's the most vulnerable song I've ever written or recorded, and it inspires the album title." The song is about finding the strength to move on from one great chapter of your life to the next. #07 castleoblivion26#08 alexcuse#08 bboat11#10 @walker9 #12 born#12 zaclord 🌈#14 bat1990#16 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾#18 Sambalada#18 toomuchboy#19 Juan Carlos#19 Snowbeast#21 austin#21 nick64#21 Libra#21 @mirza #21 YotamTS#22 Az Paynter#22 james518#22 Juanca#22 @quirkyfarang #23 .indulgecountry#23 Leaf#24 Rose "Payola" Nylund#25 ry4n#25 Normi#26 CF15#26 Doc Indie Party Rock#26 Leo ✔#26 rgreen0625#27 Choco#28 Kanenrá:ke#28 Au$tin#28 †ealsünset#29 aerodynamite{Songs Remaining}Alice (Extended Version) Complicated Don't Tell Me Fall to Pieces Girlfriend Give You What You Like Here's to Never Growing Up He Wasn't Hot I'm with You Innocence Keep Holding On Let Me Go Losing Grip Mobile My Happy Ending Nobody's Home Rock N Roll Sk8er Boi Smile Take Me Away What the Hell When You're Gone Wish You Were Here

Awww, I think "Goodbye" is a nice little melancholy piece. Though I wouldn't have minded if "Goodbye" were the minute and a half song and "Black Star" were longer.

I only have time to post one more reveal this afternoon. After that, I should be able to get back to normal on Sunday. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this will finish before Dixie Chicks!
Here's what's coming up with #24...
Three top ten losses and one #30 rank. The average is slightly below "Goodbye"'s, but its median is 21. It also has a slightly higher SD. It is the 12th lowest/19th highest SD on the rankdown. According to one music outlet, it's also a pretty important song in a specific genre.

I like "Goodbye" but not surprised it didn't fare too well. It doesn't really have that wow factor, or memorability - it's a word, trust me.

24. He Wasn'tAVG: 20.57142857 MED: 21 STD: 6.669887177 FINAL SCORE: 14.88521765
Album: Under My Skin Songwriters: Avril Lavigne, Chantal Kreviazuk Producers: Raine Maida"He Wasn't" was the international fourth single from Avril's second album, Under My Skin. Allmusic.com heralds the track as one of the most significant post-grunge songs of all time. The track has received mixed reviews, some calling it a "crappy faux-punk tune," others describing it as a "bratty kiss-off" or "boardroom-approved mall punk," but it did get some positive feedback, mainly from Rolling Stone, which called it "The album's best song" and also stated "the words are full of contempt and self-pity, but she sings them like she doesn't really care." The track pretty much sums up the entirety of Under My Skin in the chorus when Avril shouts "He wasn't what I wanted," the theme that pretty much overtakes all of the album's tracks minus a few. Fun fact with the music video, at the end when the pink slime comes out, Avril had to redye her hair. It was stained pink several days after the music video shoot and she needed it back to normal for a Cosmopolitan photoshoot the a few days later. The track was a minor hit, peaking at number two in Belgium, and below the top 20 in several other countries. It peaked at number 23 in the UK and number 25 in Australia as well as making the top 40 in Scotland, Brazil, Germany, Austria, Ireland, and New Zealand. It was nominated for Best International Music Video at the 2005 MTV Video Music Brasil Awards. #09 Doc Indie Party Rock#10 bat1990#10 Snowbeast#12 aerodynamite#12 @quirkyfarang #12 Rose "Payola" Nylund#13 austin#13 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾#14 CF15#15 Choco#16 Az Paynter#16 castleoblivion26#16 †ealsünset#19 Au$tin#20 Kanenrá:ke#20 Leaf#20 toomuchboy#21 james518#22 .indulgecountry#24 alexcuse#25 nick64#25 Leo ✔#26 ry4n#26 Juanca#26 Juan Carlos#26 @mirza #26 @walker9 #27 Normi#27 zaclord 🌈#28 bboat11#28 rgreen0625#28 YotamTS#29 Sambalada#29 Libra#30 born{Songs Remaining}Alice Complicated Don't Tell Me Fall to Pieces Girlfriend Give You What You Like Here's to Never Growing Up Hot I'm with You Innocence Keep Holding On Let Me Go Losing Grip Mobile My Happy Ending Nobody's Home Rock N Roll Sk8er Boi Smile Take Me Away What the Hell When You're Gone Wish You Were Here

Not really sure why it is one of post-grunge's most significant songs, but a damn fine song it is. Almost ranked it in the top 10, but it just lacked a little something to make it outstanding.

Fun fact about He Wasn't, Avril's only regret during the Under My Skin era was that it wasn't a single earlier in the album cycle.

Really? I liked He Wasn't for what it was but every other Under My Skin single was superior. Same. One thing about UMS is that, as much as I enjoy the album, it is quite uneven. Many of the tracks are great within the context of the album but for the single choices were all the right ones. I think He Wasn't came 5th? After Nobody's Home and before Fall To Pieces? Or was it before Nobody's Home? (Also counting Take Me Away as a single since it was released to rock radio the same time Don't Tell Me was released everywhere else.)

He Wasn't for me was clearly the worst of the UMS songs in this rankdown. Actually I think I had it in better regard before I did this rankdown So far I can't complain about the songs that have already left, except TBDT. I liked Goodbye as an album track. I felt it had potential to be really strong but it sort of doesn't go far enough. Maybe a strong bridge or an instrumental change or a higher tone could've made it stronger. I liked it enough to rank it #22 as I felt it was well delivered vocally and the video helped a lot getting the message across.

Allmusic.com heralds the track as one of the most significant post-grunge songs of all time. What Wiki-editor did they employ to make that claim? 7 songs down, 7 bottom 10 songs say sayanora. No complaints whatsoever thus far.

What's coming up with #23...
Three people will lose a top ten while two people will lose their #30. The highest rank for the next track is #8. Its average is slightly higher than "He Wasn't" while its standard deviation is slightly lower. #23 and "He Wasn't" have the same median. The final scores of #23 and "He Wasn't" are the closest of any two songs in the rankdown.

23. AliceAVG: 20.45714286 MED: 21 STD: 6.432193191 FINAL SCORE: 14.87919109
Album: Almost Alice and Goodbye Lullaby Songwriters: Avril Lavigne Producers: Butch Walker"Alice" was a single released for the soundtrack to the live action Alice in Wonderland film. Releasing in January 2010, it was Avril's first single since "The Best Damn Thing" in the summer of 2008. The track was met with mixed reviews. The LA Times and Idolator gave the song mixed reviews, with Todd Martens of the LA Times stating the song was "promising, with wavy synths caught somewhere between a nightmare and a dream" and approved of its "darker, more angsty vision." The Calgary Herald called the track "one of the best songs of Avril's career." Digital Spy also gave it a positive review, but stated it took a few listens to appreciate. Other reviews criticized the lyrics and vocals of the track, stating that Avril was too shouty in the chorus and the lyrics were tailor made for Radio Disney. An official music video was produced for the song as well, directed by Dave Meyers, who has directed such videos like P!nk's "Just Like Fire" (for this movie's sequel), Kendrick Lamar's "HUMBLE.," Rihanna's "Where Have You Been," and Fergie's "Glamorous," amongst a large amount of other great videos. Due to the track's popularity, Avril recorded an extra verse with added instrumentation and released an extended edition of the track as a bonus track on Goodbye Lullaby a year later. #08 bat1990#09 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾#10 Choco#11 rgreen0625#12 Sambalada#12 Leaf#14 Rose "Payola" Nylund#15 Normi#16 toomuchboy#17 castleoblivion26#17 Juan Carlos#17 @quirkyfarang #19 ry4n#19 Leo ✔#19 †ealsünset#19 @walker9 #20 @mirza #21 aerodynamite#21 CF15#22 Snowbeast#23 born#23 Kanenrá:ke#24 bboat11#25 alexcuse#25 Az Paynter#25 Doc Indie Party Rock#25 zaclord 🌈#26 austin#27 Libra#28 Juanca#29 .indulgecountry#29 Au$tin#29 YotamTS#30 nick64#30 james518{Songs Remaining}Complicated Don't Tell Me Fall to Pieces Girlfriend Give You What You Like Here's to Never Growing Up Hot I'm with You Innocence Keep Holding On Let Me Go Losing Grip Mobile My Happy Ending Nobody's Home Rock N Roll Sk8er Boi Smile Take Me Away What the Hell When You're Gone Wish You Were Here
