YES! Glad that "Complicated" isn't #1. Rooting for "My Happy Ending", although I don't mind if "I'm With You" wins this.

Surely Girlfriend was her biggest hit? Not even close. "Girlfriend" was a big smash, don't get me wrong, but "Complicated" was like 2002's "Call Me Maybe" or "Royals." Absolutely massive. The only reason it did not hit number one on the Hot 100 is because Nelly was damn near inescapable that year with "Hot In Herre" and "Dilemma," back-to-back number ones that kept "Complicated" from the top spot, mainly due to the fact that airplay ruled the Hot 100 during that period and of course the r&b/hip-hop songs back then got more of that than the pop songs due to their crossover appeal.

When Nelly blocked Complicated from number 1 with both Hot In Herre and Dilemma, Avril was like "Why you have to go and make things so complicated" Since she couldnt get number 1 at that time, lol.

"Girlfriend" went to Number 1 in more countries than "Complicated", of that I am pretty sure.

I think it's debatable; I'd actually agree with @quirkyfarang that "Girlfriend" is her biggest hit. It was an absolutely massive WW smash. "Complicated" has perhaps a better place in music history though than "Girlfriend" as far as being remembered/viewed more positively. They're close though.

To me Complicated feels way bigger, memorable, and iconic. Easily it's the better song of the 2 and such a 2000s jam

Surprised "Complicated" placed third. I definitely expected it top 2 over "My Happy Ending." That said.... now I'm hoping MHE can be a surprise win. I still love IWY as well and would be fine with it winning, but it's always been a touch overrated imo. Also super happy to see "Nobody's Home" place fourth. I'm so glad it came that far, because I honestly didn't expect it to make Top 5 back when I first submitted my list. <3

Also My Happy Ending & I'm With You <3 Amazing top 4, I underranked Nobodys Home.
Either way this went I'd be happy if the top 4 went in any order and any of the songs went 31, cause they're all just that good.

"Girlfriend" went to Number 1 in more countries than "Complicated", of that I am pretty sure. Eh, peaks aren't the end all be all when it comes to this stuff. Don't forget Complicated would have had to organically grow into a hit, hindering its chances to hit number one in a lot of charts. Girlfriend would have had a lot of hype upon release since Avril was a well established act. And it might be different from country to country. In the US, at least, Complicated was this massive moment that few songs achieve. Girlfriend was still huge, but not like Complicated. Girlfriend is easily her second biggest hit, though. After that it gets a little fuzzy. Ending, With You, and Sk8er Boi all feel tied for third.

I was very happy to see Nobody's Home end up right behind the big three! There actually was one instance as the ranks came in where it was number one, but it fell as more teams came in. In fact, the entire top four had number one on lock at some point. As one of the people that ranked NH at number one, I was thrilled to see mostly positive rankings from you all!

Wow @tcatrin565. It's like we're twins with our love for Avril songs. Disappointed slightly that Nobody's Home didn't beat Complicated but I'm pleased it made it as far as it did. Perfect top 2 though! I'm fine with either one winning.

I was sure "Complicated" would win, but I'm glad it didn't. I don't mind the song but she has a lot of songs that are better, in my opinion. It's my 3 vs. my 7 now, and I ranked my 7 a bit too low now that I think about it, so I'm fine with either of these two songs winning. :) ETA: I'm also glad my 2 ("Keep Holding On") made it as far as it did! It's such a beautiful song and I always loved it!

Nobody's Home was my favorite Avril track for years. IWY and Complicated have slowly gotten more recurrent plays from me, so they slowly surpassed NH, but I love all three (and My Happy Ending as well).

Great to see my top 3 as the top 3 And KHO, my #4 as #5. Really love it. Even though I ranked NH as #7 it was #5 for a good while. In the end I cave in for couple other songs, but I still think it's a great song. Complicated was my #3 for most of the time but in the end it received a bonus point over MHE for its significance on pop culture and personal music history.

What an amazing top 2 we have!! Both songs are pretty much perfect, and I honestly have no idea which one might take the victory. I would love to see it be "I'm With You", because in general I feel like ballads usually struggle to find universal support more than uptempos do. It's down to my #1 versus my #7, but honestly I underranked my #7. I'll be happy with whatever happens at this point! But I am definitely #teamimwithyou

05. Keep Holding On Surprised everyone here likes this so much? It's alright. Kinda forgettable.
04. Nobody's Home Definite classic here. Powerful chorus. Nice to see it go top 5.
03. Complicated Ah yes. The one that started it all for her. Not surprised it comes in top 3.
I'd be ok with "My Happy Ending" taking the crown. It sorta fits the song's title too. ;)

I feel like she doesn't get the recognition she desrrves. As much as I love all my pop girls, to put out "I'm With You" and "My Happy Ending" Grammy level songs...most dont.

I hope "I'm With You" takes the cake. It's up there with "Teenage Dream" for me for a pop song that clicks so well it just transcends time.

Right about now, is where I'd be asking for that refund. Right about now, my hand would be doing all the work. We may as well pick our own #1. Let's choose Doc Indie Party Rock. I'm With You or My Happy Ending?
