New album certs shouldn't be far off. Not sure how many of her other singles/tracks would be eligible for upgrades, thou there may be a handful or so. That "I Want You" cert remains quite humorous.  |

When they decertify her albums I hope the Janet album is diamond and Rhythm Nation is 8 or 9x platinum. I say certify both albums diamond. While I would love her to have two diamond albums (she *deserves* at least four), I think the following is most likely based on last available Soundscan figures and what we know about her music club sales in the 90's (her last album to be heavily sold through music clubs is DOAD). However, music club sales may be significantly underestimated, which could bump things up. As of mid-2014 janet. had a Soundscan total of 7.05 million. Its BMG sales take it to 8 million. Sales since then plus streams and digital singles sales (if the singles are counting toward it) would take it to at least 9x platinum I'd think. Mariah's Daydream is 11x platinum with 600k more in Soundscan sales than janet. and about the same BMG sales, so janet. could definitely be Diamond. |

Still Control was off the Billboard 200 at that point and DOAD presumably killed its catalog sales in the mid-90s, so outside of its music club sales I don't know if it would have added a ton of sales/shipments since 1989. Still, 7-8x platinum is certainly possible. |

There are quite a few albums in the 7-8 million soundscan that are certified Diamond. Listening to her music tonight and realized that I would compare her vocally to Diana Ross. She doesn't have the power, but she has a unique-in-the-world tone and can effortlessly inhabit different characters in her songs. Janet has emotional range and a great intimacy to her voice. And her vocal arrangements are truly peerless.

^ Agreed. Power and range doesn't equate to greatness and sounding pleasant. A lot of "sangers" oversing and don't utilize other creative elements.
I have always loved Janet's voice and will stand behind her vocal delivery all day.

She's definitely releasing tour dates with Ludacris as her opening act. Three have come out so far. Portland, OR and Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI.

Opening night is 15 minutes away from my house. I'm excited, but I do wish it was called WORLD tour to appease some of the fans who are overseas. Not yet. I'd still have faith. North America is just the spring. She could still do summer or fall in Europe. And hopefully Latin America too. She was giving shout outs to different countries in the comments section. She gave a lot of love to Poland, Brazil, Philippines, Australia and Nigeria. |
