It's actually pretty surprising to see her achieve what many bigger stars have failed to by succesfuly reinventing herself multiple times. That is the key to a long music career, changing and adapting with time without losing distinct personality. This is impressive.

I don't why but I feel the way she is performing it live (a lot more country sounding) may be what the song originally sounded like, and then afterwards they made it 'poppy' so that it could work on pop/HAC/AC/whatever. I could be completely wrong, I just find it odd she isn't performing the original (at least from the performances I have seen).

This song desperately needs a country remix. Her BBMAs performance was great because the song feels so much more natural as a country song. Plus, from a business standpoint, it just makes sense. The song clearly works as a pop song and a country song. Might as well milk that, right?
And honestly, if the entire album is like that, they could just go all out and give us two versions like Shania Twain did for her Up! album.
The only problem is all of this coming off of her last era. Is her image to tainted to by that for country to take hold of her again? Possibly. But, her image has been changes up so much since then that I really feel she can pull it off. Plus, it would be super cool to see Miley's name back on the country charts after having such great success with "The Climb" on that format.

The media seems to like her and she gets respect and has ties within the industry.
I don't think the image change seems to affect her much.
Plus "The Voice" set her up for this type of album.
She was a decent judge and seemed to know what she was talking about.
The judges and show totally made her feel like she was a respectable artist again.

Does the fact that it's Memorial Day weekend have to do anything with this one not posting big updates? That's not stopping "Bad Liar" or "Crying in the Club" from getting huge updates but I'm just curious if Memorial Day weekend affects songs in general.

^^whats wrong with that update. Doesnt she still have a bullet? A +55 is extremely lackluster when she's been getting +100s and +200s since the 8th day. A +55 is really only good when a song has been struggling for a bit and then suddenly a +55 comes. Otherwise, it's not really a good increase. More of a sign that the song is gonna get stuck there. However, I do think that was just a fluke update. Does the fact that it's Memorial Day weekend have to do anything with this one not posting big updates? That's not stopping "Bad Liar" or "Crying in the Club" from getting huge updates but I'm just curious if Memorial Day weekend affects songs in general. Not really. Memorial Day weekend just sees a slight increase in recurrents, but everything tends to move like normal. July 4th's weekend is the summer holiday that can cause wonky updates. |
