She's definitely aiming for her usual Oct/Nov release. Which makes sense, since Sony/RCA doesn't have anyone major releasing around that time.
I'm guessing the next single will also be another empowering/save the planet song. Since 4 of the 6 released songs are empowering anthems.

I'm surprised Songs in A Minor wasn't certified 7x Platinum :S

Right. Finally DOAK got 5x because it was sitting around 4.7/4.8 million for years. As I Am should have been certified 4x before the 10s came. It was sitting around 3.6 million for a while. It’s pretty impressive her first three albums.

Girl on Fire 5xP? Was it really that much bigger than her other hits?

Girl on Fire 5xP? Was it really that much bigger than her other hits? It was huge for a song that didn’t hit top 10. It had longevity—the solo version did. I find it impressive Broken Heart was a sleeper hit and got certified too. Shocked nothing for Unthinkable.

You can’t really compare, because those songs peaked before the digital era. So songs before the digital era had lower certifications? Songs before the digital era would sell the album. It’s why Song in A Minor is her best selling album because Fallin sold that album. So that’s the difference,

So that’s the difference, Now I get it. And that 2xP certification for Fallin' is the total for physical singles sales?

You can’t really compare, because those songs peaked before the digital era. So songs before the digital era had lower certifications? It's just that people weren't really buying digital singles in large numbers yet.. they were still buying CDs. So the certifications for "Fallin'" (for example) are mostly for sales since around 2005 or so (4 years after it peaked).

Yes, but consider that the newer songs peaked when streaming was at a high so they had a high number of streams while they were being actively promoted. The older songs are pulling in streams, but they peaked before the streaming era so they don't have the benefit of having all those streams that an active hit does. So comparing the streams for "Fallin'" and "Girl On Fire" for example isn't really a direct comparison if you're assessing popularity.. if streaming was a major form of music consumption in the 00s, it's very possible several other big hits of hers would be certified several times platinum as well.

I'm happy that Unthinkable is 2x Platinum. That was a MONSTER hit in summer 2010.
