I’m loving the love for “As I Am.” I know she got three Grammys for that album, but it deserved so much more especially an AOTY nomination at least.

"No One" annoyed me, so I never listened to the album at the time. Clearly I need to rectify this. That song was everything tho 😢

"Wait Til You See Me Smile" should've been huge. It was for some random commercial and flopped internationally.

Diary is her best album. At this rate, I don't think she'll ever top that. As I Am is not very consistent and the singles (except for LYNSMA) don't age all that well.

I noticed Underdog has been getting around 400k streams each day on Spotify. Are those good numbers?

She should've released her album this week.

I agree. No sense of waiting. Plus, “Underdog” and “Show Me Love” could at least put a Gold certification on the album. “Underdog” is currently the tenth best selling single for this year.

Album pushed back to December 31 (per iTunes Store). That's not the actual date. They do that when a proper release date hasn't been set. I saw the 12/31 date recently for Lady Gaga before they confirmed the 5/29 new release date.

No clue why they pushed it back because it’s probably going to do even worse now that she’s lost momentum from all her singles.

The album could have done decently though. I hope the next single hits about the same as “Underdog.”

Not sure what they're waiting for.. she probably won't be able to properly tour for awhile anyway. We're likely going to end up with another album with the biggest hits tacked on to bonus track editions again at this point.

I totally agree. "Underdog" is probably as big a moment as Alicia Keys is likely to have these days, so I'm not sure why the album has been delayed a second time. I get why they pushed it back in March, but the May date seemed pretty perfect. Not sure what will happen to the project now.

They should've dropped the whole album after "Show Me Love" skyrocketed to #1 on UAC. That was when her core fans were most excited about the release.

She should just drop the album in June, girl should accept the fact that her hit making days are over.

I’m loving the love for “As I Am.” I know she got three Grammys for that album, but it deserved so much more especially an AOTY nomination at least. She did not even receive a Best R&B Album nomination, which was shocking. No One was also left out of the general field the year prior which was imo a huge snub. I fully expected No One to receive ROTY, SOTY, R&B Female, and R&B Song nominations, and the following year I expected As I Am to receive R&B Album and AOTY nominations, Lesson Learned for Pop Collaboration, and Superwoman to be nominated for R&B Female and R&B Song. The fact she only received four nominations from that album is crazy. I remember it being a massive era.

The album that never ends... I mean 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY' out now!

I'm assuming the album is going to be scrapped because why else wait. It's not like she's going to get a hit out of the album. She needs a new label cause her current one is doing it all wrong.

It was a huge era commercially for her, but I think As I Am was not as critically favored as her first two. Also, Grammy has questionable tastes for Hip-Hop/R&B music in general.

*barf* at the critical acclaim for the snoozefest that is HERE HERE is her most cohesive album right next to As I Am. It is a clear theme album dedicated to NY.

*barf* at the critical acclaim for the snoozefest that is HERE In all honestly HERE is not a bad album, it’s really cohesive. It’s an Alicia album without hits (literally and figuratively)

Cohesive can sometimes be code for "samey". But to be honest I haven't heard that album in full in years so I can't really comment.
I think she should have dropped the album by now.

Here does nothing for me.
Girl on Fire is very uneven quality-wise.
Element of Freedom is underrated.

HERE was a snoozefest indeed. She became a boring artist after GOF album, but three songs released from ALICIA give me hope.

HERE wasn’t a bad album at all...it starts incredible strong but begins to lose its heat. Love the NY vibe behind it. I agree that GOF was her last great album IMO.

Per Metacritic: songs in A minor - 78 HERE - 76 The Diary of Alicia Keys - 71 Girl on Fire - 69 The Element of Freedom - 67 As I Am - 66 Unplugged - 65 It's obvious why HERE was adored by critics. It was a very experimental/thematic and non-commercial album for her. RCA/Sony is making a HUGE mistake by postponing this album. Are they waiting so she can do LIVE television performances and promo? Jimmy Kimmel and Fallon ain't happening. Saturday Night Live ain't gonna happen. Hell, Good Morning America is not happening. She is losing all the massive promo and radio play that coincides with an album release. Judging from the songs that have been released so far, I seriously doubt she has a radio hit waiting in the wings. Not even a Khalid collaboration will change that. Release one final single now, drop the album before August (Grammy deadline), and get that Song Of the Year (Underdog) and R&B Song (Show Me Love) nominations. I don't know what they are waiting for?

The TASTE. WHEW! Also, Alicia's magnum opus is As I Am - from her cosplaying as a White Russ Meyer actress on the cover, to the filler-less album underneath. Inspired guests, classic, timeless melodies, perfect production. No One was such a huge hit that it overshadowed the album, but I Need You, Like You'll Never See Me Again, Lesson Learned, Teenage Love Affair, Where Do We Go From Here, and Wreckless Love are career highlights. "Superwoman" got a Grammy and was a big hit internationally for her. Superwoman is an AMAZING song but it didn’t chart well internationally or domestically. The song only hit the Top 40 in a few countries. The song didn’t chart within the top 20 on any chart except the R&B chart and that was because it was in heavy rotation on UAC stations.
