"Wide Awake" is a song by American singer Katy Perry from Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. She co-wrote the song with Max Martin, Bonnie McKee, and its producers Dr. Luke and Cirkut. It was specifically written for Perry's autobiographical film Katy Perry: Part of Me. Capitol Records released the song onto radio stations on May 22, 2012. The track is a power ballad styled in dance-pop, and features lyrics about the reality of a break up and moving forward. CHART RUNSUSA: Weeks On: 26 | Peak: 2 | 35-19-9-4-4-4-4-3-2-4-4-5-7-7-11-14-13-17-21-25-28-27-33-41-48-rip CANADA: Weeks On: 27 | Peak: 1 | 80-out-24-19-11-8-2-3-2-1-2-2-1-1-2-4-7-8-10-12-16-20-23-29-27-31-39-48-rip UK: Weeks On: 20 | Peak: 9 | 69-out-74-64-31-12-10-9-9-10-14-18-18-30-38-40-47-60-57-73-87-rip Funny how the start of this video is the ending of California Gurls. I found this video amazingly artistic.

Katy's been doing purposeful pop, y'all. #wokeQueen Seriously though, Witness would have been everything she needed and wanted it to be if she'd just modeled it after this.

What's good about that boring ass song? >:( I don't dislike it as much as you but it is rather middling in original form; the production washes it out or something. The acoustic version is much stronger and makes the melody stand out more.

Kenny G. played the Saxophone in the "TGIF" MV. I figure he also did on the track, or else why appear? He was in the vid because it's a massive homage to all things 80s pop culture, but Lenny Pickett is the person credited with the sax on the track. I hated TGIF the song for a long time, but the video is amazing and made it bearable...maybe even kind of fun. Interesting. Would never have guessed that? Pop Industry. Those frickin' Liars. I'd still put the song #1 tho.

10. I Kissed A Girl pure awesomness. I loved the the guitar vibe on this one. This was a big hit on Alternative chart too.
9. California Gurls In retrospect I should have ranked this one higher....like #3 or even #2. A perfect song for Katy Perry. I never knew the song debuted at #1?

Yeah it actually debuted at #2, went down to #3, then rebounded to #2 and finally hit #1. I guess part of the chart run was accidentally cut off when Leo copied it.

Holy shit I didn't expect Cali to be out I thought it was a top 5 lock IMO I love like every song remaining, Dark Horse is a least faved but still good well minus Juicy J's part. Juicy J has never added anything good to a song imo
Anyways I am not here for the hate on The One That Got Away, love that one a lot
Wide Awake was always good at one point my faved but it derailed from thar spot ages ago, still good though
Vegas still being is a great surprise, I see no reason as to why anyone cannot like that one.

I Kissed A Girl was a very fun song and is burnt forever in my memory. California Gurls isn't one of my favourites of hers but I still enjoy listening to it! Wide Awake is a beautiful peace of art and is somewhat nostalgic for me.
I'm not here for Waking Up In Vegas (not a bad song but Top 7?) I'm all here for The One That Got Away, beautiful ballad which made me like Katy; I don't even have it Top 10 but for some songs I had very high it was clear that wouldn't even have any shot of reaching the Top 10

I thought that I Kissed A Girl would do a little bit better. It's a great song. California Gurls is decent but I liked most of her big hits better than it. Wide Awake is really nice and upbeat song to listen to. Deserved Top 5 but I'm ok with its place.
Hopefully Waking Up In Vegas won't make Top 5 and my Top 2 will (I love both pretty much equally).

Surprised that "Wide Awake" finished better than "California Gurls"! I've always had the impression that people didn't like "Wide Awake" or found it boring for some reason.
The top 7 is really nice! I'm glad that "Waking Up In Vegas" made it this far but it's probably going to go before we hit the top 5. Also, I should've ranked "Hot N Cold" higher than I did...
