For 60, I'm going to take a stab at it and say "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race". I'm probably way off. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)

LOL, I didn't know that story about Donna! >:( Still, the song is pretty solid. I remember my brother saying that this should've been a song by Cyndi Lauper, because of their voices and looks... I guess it's one of those cases of artists you could merge into one ![](http://images.proboards.com/tongue.gif) And now Donna was reborn as Ellie Goulding.

I'm probably a minority on this, but every cover version of 'Heartless' I've heard is vastly superior to Kanye's original. Like, it's a good song when done by anyone other than him. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Chris Mann version > Samantha Jade version > Kris Allen version >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kanye original I've only ever heard The Fray's version, which I do enjoy. Kanye's 808's era was my favourite of his though.

Good to see that so far 5 of my free picks have made it! ![:d](http://images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif) I literally forced Don't let go to be at my middle ranking to include it. I just couldn't let it go ;) It's all coming back was Celine's first multi-week top song in my personal chart. I'm a sucker for Jim's famous singles though.... in any case Celine was perfect for that type of epic song! I wonder what Pulse and the internet at large would have said if it was the way it is now back in 1996 when it was annoucned that Celine would be "including a Jim Steinman song in the vain of Meatloaf on her upcoming new album!" "bitch will never pull it off" "OMG I CAN'T WAIT!!! SHE CAN SANG CIRCLES AROUND FEETHOOF!!" "Stick to singing Diane Warren rejects and leave the real songs to real artists" "Whitney would be a better choice. I wonder if it's a cover of I would do anything 4 love?" "EPIC!" "no"

I don't think they ever actually got to the end of Chris' season, but that's how I stumbled across him, which led to me checking out his music on YouTube. That's how I found his version of 'Heartless'. Samantha Jade performed the song on 'The X Factor' when she was on it. Studio versions of performances were being released at that time; her version made it to #12 on the ARIA chart. Her performance of 'Heartless' is allegedly the turning point in the season where she became the favourite to win the season (which she did). I don't remember why I listened to Kris' version lol. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)

I think we can all just agree that the Kanye one is the best. End of discussion.

You probably saw someone mention his in a conversation about someone else's Heartless cover.

56 is Without Me by Eminem. 57 as Beno already pointed out, is Arms Race. I'm gonna guess 58 is You Were Meant For Me? No idea on 59. Only thing I could think of is that The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades song, but that's definitely not an option lol. I feel like this is far fetched, but is 60 Loverboy? All I can think of is that video where Mariah sang to the troops (different song), but that's the best I could come up with.

Yeah I thought 58 could be "Hanging By A Moment" based on the first clue for it, but I can't draw the connection between HBAM and the second clue...

At the rate we're going your 2000s Gold rankdown will be revealed and finished before this I'm trying not to shade too hard though b/c I totally understand the struggle of s**tty internetYeah, so this is happening, sigh. Something told me to hold off on giving Stacey a hard time ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif) Sorry I'm making you guys wait forever for this rankdown to unfold. I'm going to roll out 60-54 since i already had those posts drafted and pick up from there later. There's only so long I can hang out in this arctic-temperature Starbucks.

Oh yeah, 55 and 54 are the only two 'required' songs to miss the top 50.
55 wanted to be more than this, but it's just some little thing to you guys
I already gave you the hint for #54, if you read closely enough

Heathens, Twenty One Pilots Points: 733 | average rank: 16.417 | median rank: 16 | st. dev.: 8.046 Blocked by: Closer, Chainsmokers ft. Halsey (4 weeks)
OKay, y'all really ARE some damn heathens because this one was easy from the first clue alone! Obviously, a synonym for the song title. The second clue is a picture of 21 top gun pilots (plus two female staff members - the pic is from the '80s and I believe predates the first female top gun pilots). And I was so proud of myself for managing to find a pic with the correct number, lol.

I Knew You Were Trouble, Taylor Swift Points: 738 | average rank: 17.25 | median rank: 14.5 | st. dev.: 11.633 Blocked by: Locked Out of Heaven, Bruno Mars (1 week)
IKYWT was huge, but unfortunately Taylor got locked out of heaven the #1 spot by Bruno. She wrote this song about Harry Styles...I think. If I got the wrong ex then I totally screwed the first clue up but it's hard to keep track, okay? lol. But assuming I have it correct, the clues are 1) Harry Styles walking into a room and looking all kinds of suspect and up to something; and b) Shampoo is a duo who had this one song called Trouble. It was both on their debut album We Are Shampoo and in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie. Ugh, I probably should have hinted with a picture from the movie, shouldn't I? The song didn't make it on to any US chart but my sister made me watch the movie with her so many times that I swore up until now that it was a hit.

Hanging By a Moment, Lifehouse Points: 742 | average rank: 17.5 | median rank: 16.5 | st. dev.: 11.529 Blocked by: Lady Marmalade, Mya, P!nk, Lil' Kim, and Christina Aguilera (3 weeks); U Remind Me, Usher (1 week)
chartfanatic and Juan got this one, yay! Now I can feel better about how difficult it was for me to think of any decent clue that could hint at the title of this song or the name of the band. I settled on a reference to their other top 5 hit (You and Me), and the title of HBAM's parent album (No Name Face). I was pleasantly surprised to see this many people gravitate toward this pick.

This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race, Fall Out Boy Points: 756 | average rank: 22.786 | median rank: 23 | st. dev.: 6.548 Blocked by: Irreplaceable, Beyonce (2 weeks)
beno and Ginger got this correct, I believe - the first clue is Selena Gomez's first solo album - i.e. this ain't a Scene. The second clue is in reference to an 'arms race.' This song is fun. For some reason I never actively seek out FOB, so I always forget how much I enjoy them until one of their songs pops up. You guys didn't forget, though!

Without Me, Eminem Points: 883 | average rank: 18.067 | median rank: 21 | st. dev.: 9.074 Blocked by: Hot In Herre, Nelly (5 weeks)
Ginger got this correct as well - both clues were hinting at the title. The second single from Fantasia's album Side Effects of You was also titled Without Me, and the second pic was the artwork for U2's single With or Without You. I can never think of this song without instinctively bleating "nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah, nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah" like a fool lol

Crush, David Archuleta Points: 901 | average rank: 50.257 | median rank: 54 | st. dev.: 15.396 Blocked by: Disturbia, Rihanna (1 week)
aero the clue slayer is up to his old tricks again. The hint I gave above strung together lyrics from the choruses from two other, more classic songs with the same title - Paramore's crushcrushcrush ("let's be more than this") and Jennifer Paige's Crush ("it's just some little thing"). For anyone who isn't a fan of the 'free picks' system this song is your strongest argument by far lol. Crush benefited from being in a year that only had a couple of #2 peakers, but for the most part poor Archie's feelings are unrequited here. Only five people even saw fit to put it in their top 40, and it is one of only four required songs that no one ranked top 10. It has no business ranking higher than all the songs that have been revealed up to this point.

Apparently no one wanted to wait forever to see this song see its way out of this rankdown. Can't say I blame you.
