I just LOVE my top 20. Ranking those incredible artists was really hard because #16 (for example) seems way too low for an act you love. My #1 isn't that surprising but I'm still in shock. If you told me three years ago that in June 2017 I'd have this act at the top of my Canadian artists chart, I'd probably laugh at you.

 It's time for the Top 50 Canadian Artists of all time as decided by you! Thank you all for submitting lists for this. As I might have mentioned before, I'm VERY excited about this! Even in my earliest days as a music fan, I was always drawn to music by Canadian artists. I'm not really sure why and I still don't know but my music collection has a large amount of CanCon and many of my favourites are from here so I had a lot of fun putting this list together as Pulse's contribution to the commemoration of Canada's 150th! Before I start the actual list, I'm going to start with some fun facts about Canada for those of who you might not know.  The Dominion of Canada was established on July 1, 1867 starting with four provinces, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. Here's a graphic that displays the map of Canada over the years.  Canada is the second largest country by area (fourth largest by land area) Canada’s population is just over 35 million (38th largest) 1/3 of Canada’s population lives in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver 20% of Canadians were born in another country. Canada removed the final ties of legal dependence on Britisn in 1982 when it received full sovereignty. Canada has two official languages, though New Brunswick is the only province to have two official languages. The first people to inhabit Canada did so about 15,000 years ago. The first Europeans to come to Canada came around 1000AD and landed at the northern tip of Newfoundland. Canada is the most educated country in the world with the highest percentage of its population having post-secondary education. Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined. Canada is 30% forest. It’s legal to sell sex in Canada but not legal to buy it. (Prostitution is legal) The longest street in the world is Yonge St, 1896km long. Canada fought and won against America in two wars in 1775 and 1812. Alberta doesn’t have rats (the animal anyway) and hasn’t for over half a century. The world’s first UFO landing pad was built in Alberta in 1967. Marriage was legalized for all couples in 2005. Canadian inventions: telephone, light bulb, basketball, standard time, zipper, Superman. You’re welcome. Seems like "Alberta" is an ideal place to live Nah, it's always way too cold in the winter, and way too hot in the summer. Vancouver Island / Vancouver (BC) is the best place to live. Perfect climate, and beautiful views wherever you go. |

It’s legal to sell sex in Canada but not legal to buy it. (Prostitution is legal) How does this work? It caused a bit of an uproar with certain groups because it puts prostitutes at risk. I think the law was meant to help them by not giving them legal ramifications for selling sex but to put the onus on the people who buy it. |

Between 1973 to 1984, BTO released 9 studio albums.

In 2009, Randy and Fred Turner reunited but due to legal issues, they weren’t able to retain the use of the original bandname and instead go by Bachman & Turner. They released an album in 2010.
