*sigh* There's more to songs than the vocals. But in songs like Wild Thoughts the only thing that he contributes are his vocals. So you were there? My bet is that you have no idea what goes into building and recording a song.

What I mean is that the instrumental isn't even a sample. It's just a slight rework of "Maria Maria". Khaled heavily featured his pokemon cry on the track. It was a joke, doesn't matter that it was a s**tty one.

He barely contributes anything to his own songs at all, really. *sigh* There's more to songs than the vocals. Everything I've seen says he rarely does productions anymore either. And he surely doesn't DJ.

When do you think Redbone will make the top 10?

When do you think Redbone will make the top 10? Never. I'm in the minority, but I don't think the song will hit the Top 10. It'll barely scrape.

Songs to look out for: Cassie's Me & U. The 2006 track was just discounted on iTunes and has broken the Top 40 (It's currently sitting at #35), it's too early to see if it'll have enough momentum to re-enter the Hot 100. The R&B track peaked as high as #3 in it's original run over 11 years ago. My question: Why? I didn't know the song was that memorable, I mean, many Puff Daddy and Biggie tracks were discounted as well yet they haven't broken iTunes Top 40, and they were arguably bigger stars in their day than Cassie. It's #28 now :o Well it was a hit song, it doesn't matter if Cassie is no longer a star. Are there any hit Puff Daddy/Biggie songs discounted? If not then no wonder they're not charting. And iTunes crowd is usually pop leaning anyway

^ It is quite an oddity though. Me & U was a hit, but not a huge cultural event or anything. It was just kind of an obscure one-hit-wonder back in 2006, and wasn't even a big digital seller then.

I really doubt "Me & U" will make it if "One Last Time" couldn't after One Love Manchester.

I guess the song is beloved or hit some nostalgic chord ;) I just noticed Puff Daddy & Faith Evans' I'll Be Missing You is #39 now.

Obscure hit???? Not here on "Pulse". Cassie is a near legend here. Even when she's not putting out new music her thread still gets a lot of action. More than Whitney, Celine and sometimes Madonna. I also see people on here still talk about the trendsetting "Me & U" like it was the song of the year. People have not forgotten the paperthin ice princess vocals that she supplied on that song. Where have you been???? LOL!!!!! (total sarcasm)

What's going on with radio updates? I can't see any on kworb and it's time for new thread I've seen this question in a few places; and I think it would be beneficial for Pulse at large to learn that Kworb is heavily dependent on AllAccess, whose own script for acquiring radio data from Mediabase is not currently functional. In short, the chain works like this: Mediabase > AllAccess > Kworb

Redbone momentum is seriously stalling. I can easily see it beating BLAB or Issues, but it needs SJLT, stay, and mask off to die before it can make the top 10.

I think Unforgettable's more likely to reach top 10 next week, since it's gaining in all metrics.

I think "Redbone" can make the Top 10...it will overtake "Stay", "XO Tour Llif3', and "Something Just Like This". It will likely leapfrog "Body Like A Backroad" too, which will put it in the Top 10.

I don't really think Madonna was on top during the Bedtime Stories era. Actually, Madonna seemed to struggle through most of the 90s, isn't it so? No. She had 15 top ten hits and multiple multi-platinum albums during the 90s. Not just Take A Bow, but Vogue, Justify My Love, Ray of Light, etc. Starting in the 2000s however you would have a point, so even Madonna hasn't lasted forever. But it's too bad Rihanna is taking most of the press from this song, because I think it's amazing that DJ Khaled is reaching the pinnacle of his success after age 40, which is very rare for either gender. Vogue and Justify My Love are from the very beginning of the decade, Ray of Light was almost at the end. In between she struggled a lot to stay relevant, didn't she? From Erotica on, she just couldn't compete with the success of Janet, Mariah or other contemporaries - and she couldn't compete with her 80s self either. Erotica and Bedtime Stories sold less than half of her previous albums. It was only with Ray of Light that her career took an upward turn.

Madonna still had big hits with "I'll Remember", "Take A Bow", "Secret" and other top ten hits in between.

Her sales may have dipped in a relative sense, but Madonna was still putting out hit singles and albums. She was still relevant. And, really, in terms of how the singles did, Ray of Light was a dip from Bedtime Stories.

Dj khalid produced only half the songs on his album, the only thing he contributes to the other half is being a narsistic pokemon and getting the people with "talent" toghether.

As much as she was still able to get some top 10 hits circa 1995, I don't agree that compared to her peak in the 80s (or even she success she would later have in the 00s). I think Rihanna's current status is comparable with that she had during the Umbrella days, possibly greater. Maybe you guys can help me with this, specially since I'm not American and we're specifically taking about US success, but it's always seemed to me that after Erotica Madonna lost a lot of her relevance, and if we're talking about her 90s hits - Take a Bow, I'll Remember, You'll See, Don't Cry For me Argentina - we're talking about ballads aimed at an older audience, not targeted at the MTV crowd Madonna had so famously been a part of, as if suddenly Madonna had lost her young appeal and turned into a staple of Adult Contemporary.

You are forgetting Secret, Ray of Light, and Music when you list her post-Erotica hits (i.e. those are not ballads). I forget where Beautiful Stranger peaked, but it was at least a modest hit for her.

Let's put it this way, you are right in that Madonna wasn't as big in the 90s as she was in the 80s, but she was definitely still big. Whereas she was maybe the #1 or #2 pop star during the 80s, She was still #6 on Billboard's Top Arists of the 90s list.

CHR radio was always behind a new Madonna project straight through American Life in 2003. Those first singles were always treated like events well before the days of iHeart hourly premieres.
There was a slight backlash in 1993 but she came back pretty well with Secret and Take a Bow. Even chart stiffs like You Must Love Me and American Pie started off huge their first weeks at radio.

I mentioned earlier Ray of Light was a turning point for her, the moment she seemed to be cool and relevant again, the moment when she was all over MTV again and not just making AC pop ballads anymore. And also the moment her album sales doubled.
